1. Filthborn
“Quincy Dungsworth, hahaha! Just like your name, you really are TRASH!” sneered a boy named Blake Morrow, stressing the word trash. He kicked a pile of cat dung straight toward Quincy. The skinny, ragged boy crouched down, shielding his head. Dirt and dust from the filth rained all over his body.Quincy’s strange name had an unusual origin. Years ago, a hunter named Ezekiel Jhu discovered a baby crying atop a heap of rotting leaves. In the infant’s tiny hand was a lump of cat dung. Then, out of nowhere, the baby’s hand glowed—and the dung vanished. Ezekiel thought the child had absorbed it. So he named him Quincy Dungsworth, the “Filthy Brat.”Before Ezekiel was killed by a wild beast on a hunt, he had managed to enroll the abandoned child into the Ironhart Institute, an elite academy for cultivation. At first, Quincy wasn’t qualified. The examiner declared his body empty—no inner energy, no sign of a Spiritual Core, even though he was nearly nine years old. By that age, human childre
2. King Jigo Staff of Light
On a vast continent ruled by an oligarchic system, three kinds of beings coexisted: humans, beastfolk, and demons. The land was known as the Hena Plains.Among the humans, there were seven great clans: the Fire Clan (Naar), Water Clan (Ma’), Wind Clan (Hawa), Land Clan (Ard), Light Clan (Nur), Darkness Clan (Dullam), and Plant Clan (Nabat). The beastfolk were governed by leaders of their own kind—such as the monkey tribe, once ruled by King Jigo, the great Monkey King. As for the demons, their forces were divided into three domains: the Red Demons, the Green Demons, and the Black Demons.Humans occupied the northern regions, beastfolk the southeast, and demons the southwest. At the far northern edge stood the Ironhart Institute, a basic academy for cultivation. Half of its grounds were surrounded by dense forest and the Blue Sea coast.---A faint glow appeared on Quincy Dungsworth’s right palm—the shape of a blazing sun. But the mark faded as quickly as it appeared, vanishing the mom
3. Wonder
The morning sun crept into the courtyard. Quincy Dungsworth stirred awake, only to see the very girl he had wept for last night bouncing beside him.“Quin-Ge! Quin-Ge!” Lila Liet shouted, shaking his shoulders with all her might.“Lila?” Quincy rubbed his eyes a few times before sitting up.It was strange. Just last night, Lila had been covered in blood and torn apart by wounds, on the verge of death. Yet now, in the span of one night, she looked perfectly fine—completely healed, without the faintest scar.“Quin-Ge, why are we sleeping in the courtyard? I thought the tiger had eaten me alive last night! Did you save me?” she asked with her usual chattiness.“I… I don’t know,” Quincy admitted. “I thought you were dying. But when I held you, my body suddenly felt weak—like you drained away all my energy. Then I blacked out.”“Me? I drained your energy? No way!”“I don’t understand it either,” Quincy smiled faintly. “But I’m just glad you’re back to your noisy self.”Lila beamed, her dim
4. Old hut
“Divine Staff!”Whooosh! Whooosh! Whooosh! From above, the wooden staff spun rapidly as it descended into Quincy’s hand.Snap! The boy caught it and began swinging with excitement.“I can show you a few basic techniques, if you wish,” the Divine Staff spoke.“Really? Of course I want to learn! Please, show me! I’m so excited!”“Sit. Close your eyes.”Quincy obeyed. He sat cross-legged, eyes shut. In his mind, a dark silhouette appeared, demonstrating a sequence of movements.Moments later, Quincy’s eyes flew open. His body moved instinctively, repeating the technique as if it had been carved directly into his memory. With surprising agility, he swung the staff again and again. Then, channeling all his energy, he unleashed the technique:The Rampaging Staff.Whooosh! Whooosh! Whooosh! The weapon spun vertically like a massive shuriken, slashing horizontally across the trunk of a giant tree. With a loud crack, the tree toppled, and the staff returned to Quincy’s grip—shredding the falle
5. The Locking Seal Formation
“Oh, forgive me, Young Master. I truly didn’t know,” said Gavin Wang, the librarian, bowing slightly. “But this is only the beginner’s level. Anyone is free to borrow and study these books—even if they are at the lowest realm of cultivation.”“Oh, Uncle Gu is right. This is only the beginner’s section.” Calder Flint crouched in front of Quincy Dungsworth, his eyes sharp with intimidation. He grabbed Quincy’s jaw with crushing force. “So, you got lucky surviving the burning trash heap. But don’t ever think you’ll amount to anything. Even if you memorize every book in this library, without spiritual power… you’re still just TRASH!”He shoved Quincy away and walked off, followed by his laughing cronies.Quincy remained buried under a pile of fallen books.Gavin Wang frowned. He knew the boy everyone called “Filthy Brat.” But to him, the library was sacred. Knowledge was for everyone. Even trash could stumble upon a miracle through learning. That was why the Headmaster had once chosen him
6. Cresty
“At last… someone has come, after eight years of my imprisonment!”Inside the iron cage bound with golden chains, a middle-aged man with a ruined face rasped.“The voice… it was yours?” Quincy Dungsworth tightened his grip on the Divine Staff, approaching cautiously. When he reached out toward the bars, the man cried out:“Don’t touch it! The bars are coated with Fire Spiritual Energy. Bare skin will burn instantly!”Quincy jerked his hand back. “Who are you, really?”“I am the Headmaster of the Ironhart Institute—Neil Li. You may call me Neil.”Quincy’s eyes widened. “I-It can’t be!” Suspicion clouded his face. Trusting a stranger so easily was dangerous.Neil exhaled heavily. “I know… it’s not easy to believe.” His voice softened. “Eight years ago, I fought to defend the Central Lands against demons and beastfolk. I returned gravely wounded. On my way back to the Institute, I encountered Vice-Principal Benedict Kong. I never imagined… his treachery.”He paused, breath ragged, before
7. The Wretched Neil Li
“Follow me! Follow me!” squawked Cresty, the yellow-crested parrot. With its beak, it tugged at something inside a hole in the earthen wall. Suddenly, the wall rumbled and slid open, revealing a hidden passage.Neil Li’s eyes widened. How could a parrot know there was a hidden way here? He suspected Cresty had once been trained by someone—perhaps by whoever built this old hut and designed its underground prison. As Quincy and Cresty slipped into the tunnel, the entrance sealed itself behind them. Moments later, Benedict Kong stormed into the chamber where Neil was chained.“Who destroyed the barrier?” Benedict snarled, his sharp gaze drilling into Neil’s eyes. “How are you still alive in this place?”“Heh! Fortune still favors me. If you truly wanted me dead, why not kill me outright?” Neil smirked faintly despite his broken body.Benedict laughed cruelly. “Why kill you, when I can savor your suffering? Your agony is my delight! Perhaps I’ve been too merciful. Maybe it’s time I tighte
8. The Hidden Power
“Ka-kak-too-a! Benedict Kong stupid! Prisoner escaped!” Cresty finally revealed himself, flapping around the old hut in circles.Just a parrot? Hearing the noisy squawking, Benedict Kong realized he had been tricked. He rushed back into the chamber to check on Neil Li.Once again, the clever parrot had outwitted him. Cresty deliberately shouted that the prisoner had escaped, because he had seen Quincy Dungsworth already reaching the exit of the hidden passage. The bird perched on Quincy’s shoulder and chirped, “Ka-kak-too-a! Reward! Reward!”“Reward?” Quincy frowned in confusion. Then he realized—the parrot wanted payment for its hard work. Luckily, Quincy still had a handful of peanuts left from the day before. He handed them over.“Ka-kak-too-a loves peanuts! Thank you!” Cresty squawked happily, munching away.Together, they left the place behind, moving quickly before Benedict Kong could find them.---Without direction, Quincy wandered until the reached the Northern Coral Coast. T
9. Lila’s Sorrow
“What are you staring at!” snapped Lila Liet, glaring fiercely. She was already upset from not finding Quincy, and now these annoying students only fueled her anger. The group from Class 1A circled her like predators. At their center was Cynthia Kong, the beautiful young heiress of the prestigious Kong family, one of the noble lineages of the Fire Clan. She was the most gifted girl in Class 1 and admired by everyone. All the students of 1A bowed to her whims, eager for her favor.Cynthia grabbed Lila’s collar, lifting the smaller girl off the ground. “How dare you snap at me? Have you grown tired of living?”Lila’s teeth clenched. “Let me go!”“I will… if you kiss my feet,” Cynthia sneered.“Pah! Never!” Lila spat in her face.“You—!” Rage twisted Cynthia’s expression. She flung Lila to the ground, the child’s small body striking gravel painfully. Wiping the spit from her cheek with disgust, Cynthia’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “Such nerve you have.”She crouched, pinching Lila’s
10. The Struggle
“The old hut? I never saw any hut there! So all those voices were nothing but illusions,” said Mr. Liet in disbelief.“There was a barrier concealing it. No one could see the hut unless the barrier was destroyed,” explained Quincy Dungsworth. The teacher’s eyes narrowed, his brows knitting as he studied the boy before him. Something felt… different. He claims he saw the hut… but the barrier must be destroyed before it can be revealed. That means… Quincy destroyed it himself. He’s been hiding his strength all along!Mr. Liet’s heart pounded. So that’s why he was always so focused on watching others train instead of forming his own power. He pondered the boy’s motives but quickly dismissed suspicion. He knew Quincy was good at heart, a child he could trust. Best to simply observe.“And is the Headmaster still there?” he asked.“No. A parrot showed us a hidden way out. We moved him to a safer place,” Quincy replied.“Good. Keep this secret close to your chest.” Mr. Liet smiled warmly, ru
