Chapter One
"I'm sorry, Jace, we have to let you go", a middle-aged man said, his expression sympathetic. He didn't want to let Jace go, but the reviews from the customers weren't good, coupled with his colleagues' remarks about him, he had no choice.He had accepted the boy because he knew his father, a man he had worked with on a job a long time ago. The boy, however, spiralled into a web of sadness and depression, especially after his younger sister died from an overdose, looking like there was always a cloud of darkness wherever he went."But you can always come in for free meals on me, okay, Jace?" he called after the boy, who nodded and exited the office. Outside, Jace saw the way Darrell snickered and muttered something to a co-worker; they must have been the ones who reported him to the boss. Well, now he was fired, and he hoped they were happy.Packing what little stuff he came to work with, Jace left the restaurant, heading home with no real thought in his head.His world had been goin
Chapter Two
Opening his eyes, Jace could see the concerned look on the face of the girl that woke him...Sephora, his "Sister".Sephora had beady eyes; like she cried at every little thing. She had a small birthmark on her face below her right eye, a tiny dot.Those eyes were staring intently at him now."What happened?", her voice now was nothing compared to how it was earlier when she was yelling at him to wake up...she was scared.Deciding that it was probably best to hide the fact that he was not the Jace they knew, Jace cracked a little smile; no one would like to hear that their brother died in his sleep and another soul from somewhere far away somehow took over his body right?."I'm sorry Seph, my head just ached a little, but I'm okay now", he said as he was shocked at how smoothly the name came off his lips; it was almost natural. "Ached a little?, you were thrashing around like you were enchanted or something", Sephora replied, her voice a little softer now as she examined her brother;
Chapter Three
*Oasis System Bonding*.Seeing those words floating across his field of view, Jace put his hands up as he attempted to swipe the words away, but his hands didn't even meet any resistance like there was nothing there. *Bonding Complete...Initializing...*The voice spoke out again as Jace watched word after word pop into his field of view. *Welcome to the Oasis System, host.You have been selected by a Supreme Being to inherit his Life's work.You have been granted this system after your will to get stronger was seen*. The words were on the semi transparent screen, and he could also hear the words being spoken to him too.Who was this Supreme being though?, were they the reason he transmigrated?. Was his every move being watched?. For a split second, Jace felt bitter; if the Supreme being had been watching him since he was on Earth, why couldn't they somehow stop the accident?. It was only for a split second though as he had no idea what the Supreme Being was or if it could even inf
Chapter Four
Stepping outside, Jace looked up at one other strange thing he had grasped from his new memories; there were two suns in the sky.What was weird though was that; even though the two suns were shining really brightly, it was strangely cold and damp.Shrugging, he deftly avoided a shoe that flew across his field of view. He went through his memories...it was Mrs Vinta and her troublesome son again. "Morning Jace, sorry about the shoe. Where are you off to?", Mrs Vinta asked as she glared at her son across the street. Mrs Vinta was a single mother that lived across the street from them; her husband was just like his dad, he worked under the Chief as a Treasury Guard. Although they didn't have magical talents, they could work fairly mundane jobs like that and although the pay was just slightly above the minimum wage, sitting at three mana stones per week, it was something anyway.But her husband had volunteered for an extra mana stone as a Royal Guard when the demonic beast came into th
Chapter Five
Walking along the white, brightly lit hallways, Jace noted how sophisticated everything was, they even had elevators here.Walking past a door, Jace noticed how cold it suddenly felt and out of curiosity, he peeked into the room.The room was larger inside than it looked from the outside, probably the work of a powerful Awakened who had the Space element. Inside the room, there were a few odd looking equipments, some mannequins packed into a corner and there were some strange floating stones.What caught his attention though, were the people he saw in the room.A boy was facing the opposite wall, a mannequin in front of him and in his hands, there seemed to be a snake coiling around his arms forming a ball in his palm. Looking closer though, Jace was shocked as he realised it wasn't a snake, but a lightning arc. The boy suddenly grunted as he stretched out his right arm, the arm with the lightning arc and everything suddenly seemed to go quiet. The next second though, there was a deaf

Chapter Seven
The walk back home was a little quiet and full of self-reflection as Jace thought back to his old world. Looking back, he felt bad; he shouldn't have given up on life and himself that easily. The death of his sister was what destroyed his will to live though.Shaking his head, Jace refused to let his thoughts meddle with his new life; he had a new family now and he was going to make sure they were protected. On earth, he was a helpless kid, but here, he was an Awakened and he was going to make it count. The sight of the oddly familiar neighborhood brought a surreal feeling to Jace's mind; he was now an Awakened, and if he made it through to Thereon Academy, just the fact that he was a student alone would be enough to grant him the ability to influence matters in the town. He thought of Mrs Vinta and her boy, of the friends he had in the neighborhood...the thought of being able to finally help them live a better and comfortable life improved his mood even further."Jace?".He was jus

Finally back in his room, Jace couldn't stop the smile from creeping onto his face. He could feel the acceptance from his mom, his sister looked at him with pride, something he couldn't explain but felt wonderful and Dorian was happy that at least one of them had the talent and was going to be an Awakened. He also couldn't wait for his father, Lucuen to get back from work. From his memories, he saw that the old Jace adored his father.Although he asked Dorian to come to his place with Kael later tonight; he wanted to go explore the cave Dorian mentioned earlier; he was curious. And even if he wasn't curious enough, the system had it's own plans. When Dorian mentioned the cave earlier, he had heard a ding from the system but he didn't check it at the time.However, checking it later, he found out he had triggered the conditions for a "Hidden Quest" ***Host has completed the conditions required for a hidden quest. Now assigning the following quest :●"Cave Explorer"Quest Details : A

Opening his eyes finally, Jace smiled as he stood up and shook his body. He felt lighter, almost like he could just jump and fly out of the house. He could also feel the mana in the atmosphere easily. It also felt slightly cooler than it was earlier. Raising his right hand, Jace clenched his fist as lightning crackled on the edge of his eyes, he felt stronger too, and he could feel the lightning flowing through his body; it felt like he could call upon lightning at any moment.*Ding****After a successful meditation session, host has broken through and is now a Middle Rank 1 Awakened. Congratulations.***The notification from the system confirmed his suspicions; although it was just a minor breakthrough, he had indeed broken through and is now stronger.He thought back to the reward he got from awakening the Lightning Elemental Attribute; the 10 stat points and the new skills he got from the book too.Sitting down once more, he pulled up the system interface.
