THE SILLY NO-BRAINED BROTHER
Amelia was engrossed in a conversation with Lucian when someone came to whisper something into her ears. "Oh, Luciano, I have some business to attend to so I have to leave now but I'll be back in a bit," she told Lucian He smiled with a nod. "Sure. Take your time, country girl." Amelia chuckled loudly before walking away. Tracy heaved a sigh of relief watching her leave. Finally! The nickname Lucian called the annoyingly pretty lady irked her. What was that about? Her heart thumped loudly in her chest as she decided to approach Lucian. She had no clue what she was going to tell him but she was going to approach him either way. Lucian was enjoying the event. He sipped the glass of drink he had collected earlier, ignoring the loud whispers and glares from Amelia's admirers. "H-Hi, Lucian," Tracy mumbled in a low voice once she got to his table. But he wasn't looking in her direction as he was paying keen attention to what the host was saying. She cleared her throat
A POISONOUS PLAN IN MOTION
Lucian strolled further down the hall to clear his head. His conversation with Tracy replayed in his mind, and he wondered why she suddenly seemed so sober around him. Some guests turned to look at him as he walked past them, still murmuring and whispering. But Lucian couldn't care less about them.Someone whispered loudly, "Look at him. He's quite shameless. How can he still be trying to force himself back into Tracy's life?"A woman added, "He thinks because he has a fancy suit, he is worth as much as Tracy and Blake."Someone laughed. "A dog in a suit will always be a dog.""He should be glad Tracy even gave him a minute of her attention," another person said. The words were not new to Lucian. As much as they cut him, he blocked them out mentally. He stood by the bar, scrolling through his phone to pass the time.As he stood, he responded to messages from Aurora and some of his previous connections. It seemed a number of people were aware that he had come out to the public. There w
AN URBAN GRANDMASTER DOESN'T MAKE MISTAKES!
Before Lucian could respond or Tracy could understand the situation, Blake jumped to his feet. His anger was clearly written on his face.He wondered why he couldn't just get rid of the annoying Lucian and why the latter always appeared wherever he was. He was irritated by his presence."Are you out of your mind?! What did you do that for?" he yelled, causing the heads of almost all the guests to turn in their direction again.Seeing that the attention of the guests was on them, Blake barely let Lucian speak before shouting more."You just keep following my sister around. Why can't you understand that she is over you?! She wants nothing to do with you!"Lucian felt a tinge of embarrassment as murmurs sparked up among the crowd again.Tracy tugged at Blake's sleeves, wanting him to lower his voice. She knew there had to be a reason for Lucian's actions. However, Blake wasn't hearing her out. He shook her hands off him, wanting to embarrass Lucian as much as possible."I know what I'll
PROVING THE TRUTH
Lucian used his strongest willpower to remain calm and unfazed despite Blake's accusations. But he couldn't shake off the amazement and shock he felt. The eyes of almost all the guests were on him now, Blake's accusations hanging in the air over him.Their murmurs were getting so loud he couldn't block them out anymore."He should be arrested and locked up for this.""Oh my God, he even looks like a criminal.""How wicked can he be to spike her drink just to be a hero? What if she had drunk it?""Of course she wouldn't have drunk it. Can't you see that the point is for him to be her hero?"Their words made Lucian boil. How did the tables flip on him?It would have really been better to have minded his business. But would he let Tracy die?He remained silent. Disbelief would not let him find the words.Tracy stood at the center of the scene, confused and hurt. She didn't want to believe that her brother was right, but Lucian's silence said otherwise."Lucian, tell me, did you really sp
AN URBAN GRANDMASTER WOULD NEVER STOOP SO LOW
The clock seemed to be ticking very fast. One minute passed. Then two, and three, and five, and seven minutes passed.Blake's face had transformed into a smug grin. The guests were beginning to murmur loudly about Lucian being a liar and a fraud.Amelia's brow remained raised. She was confident that Lucian was innocent. When ten minutes passed, Blake clapped his hands."We've watched him for ten minutes but nothing has happened. How long was the corn supposed to take before transforming?" he asked, his grin wide. The servant who brought the corn responded, "Five minutes, sir."Blake laughed scornfully. "You hear that?" he asked Lucian. "Five minutes. It's been double the time and yet nothing happened."Lucian was silent as he tried to regain calmness. He didn't care what the corn said. He knew what he saw."Miss Amelia," Blake continued, turning to Amelia who was silent in confusion."I believe we had a deal. Either the corn changes colour or Lucian is thrown out."Amelia turned to Lu
DO NOT OFFEND THE URBAN GRANDMASTER!
"Mr. Henry sent me!"The loud gasps of the guests echoed in the hall.Lucian watched with hooded eyes, taken aback but not in disbelief.Blake's face was laughable. His mouth hung open and his eyes were wide.Tracy was numb from shock. She wasn't too surprised that Henry hated her. She just didn't know what she had done to deserve being poisoned.Everyone turned to Henry, whose face had turned pale. Realizing that he had been caught, he knew he had to act fast or his reputation would be ruined. He fumed, rushing over to the center of the drama. He grabbed the servant bound on the floor by the collar. "Are you out of your mind?! How dare you accuse me of something I know nothing about?!"The man trembled from the intensity of Henry's glare, but he didn't renounce his claim. "Yes, you sent me to spike her drink. There's no point in denying it. I have no need to lie against you."Henry dealt him a fatal punch to the jaw. The impact sent the servant stumbling backwards."Will you shut up?
THE URBAN GRANDMASTER REMAINS AT THE TOP
Everywhere settled back to normal once Henry had left. Some of the guests had remorseful expressions on their faces toward Lucian, but others still held grudges in their hearts for reasons best known to them.Lucian turned to Amelia once everyone had gone back to their seats."Thank you so much for all you did for me back there, Amelia."She rolled her eyes with a smile. "I'd do it and even more. I owe you one, remember?"Seeing Lucian's quizzical expression, she explained, "You helped me back then, ten years ago. When my dad fell ill and almost died?"Lucian’s face lit with remembrance. He heaved a sigh, slightly embarrassed at being reminded of his old good works."That's what friends do, country girl."She shot him a grin before excusing herself. As much as Lucian was relieved to be free from the scene earlier, a part of him wanted to call his driver and leave the event. But he didn’t want to disappoint Amelia. The attention of half the guests was still fixed on him, even though it
