Neal stared, confused.“What do you mean I'm not allowed on this side of the-" The saleslady hissed, interrupting Neal. She turned to the man with an apologetic smile. “I'm sorry, sir. I'll be back now." She walked to Neal and gritted out quietly. "Will you quit staring and leave? I don't want him to get offended.”Neal sighed. "You don't understand. I just want to get some clothes. I have the”The girl hissed, “Leave or I'll call security. You'll be jailed for trespassing,” she gritted out the last threat. She dealt Neal one last glare, then turned back to the man and walked him around, giving him a tour of the boutique. She seemed to feel prouder the higher the prices of the clothes she called out. While Neal gaped after the saleslady and the man, another saleslady who had witnessed the scene while she arranged pairs of high-quality slacks on a rack quickly walked up to Neal.“Welcome to our store, sir," she smiled. Then she gestured toward the first saleslady, “I'm sorry about th

Neal dropped by at home. In his room, he took a quick shower and decided to put on one of the clothes he got. He paused for a moment to admire himself in the mirror, his tall, lean but muscular physique, the ease with which the dark blue shirt and jean pants fell fluidly on his body. The way the color complemented his skin color. The corners of his lips rose in a smirk. He finally understood why the girls at school were making such a fuss about him. At first, he'd been surprised by their attraction to him but he now understood. Even without the branded clothes and flashy endowments that would scream his estimated bank balance, he was still good-looking. Little wonder they were able to overlook his ‘poverty’ and still show interest in him.At the thought that they all believed that he was poor made a chuckle rumble up his throat. While some pitied him, most mocked and ridiculed him. If only they knew that he was worth much more than their fathers. He soon left for the restaurant. It

The room reminded Neal of the private section at the restaurant he had gone to with Amber. He expected to see the same unique space as that restaurant but he didn't. Though the interior decoration here was also stunning, it was minimal compared to the previous restaurant. Neal, Peter, and the rest all took their seats. As they waited for the rest to arrive, some people busied themselves with their phones while others chatted amongst themselves. And some of their whispered chats reach Neal. The more people arrived, the more the whispers increased.“Look! He’s actually here,” the girls signified to one another. Some of them shook their heads to straighten their hair while some brought out mirrors to adjust their makeup. One of the girls sighed, her dreamy gaze on Neal. “Even as a poor man, he's so good-looking. What if he were rich? He'd be gorgeous!”Another girl chipped in, “If he should agree to be with me, I'll polish him up so well he wouldn't recognize himself anymore,” she fini

Elsa's offer and condition angered Peter. If Neal should take the offer, there is a high chance that it would thwart his plans, and even if it doesn't, it would not have as much impact.Intent on ensuring that such does not happen, Peter cut in before Neal could give a response.“Neal has more dignity than you all think." Everyone's attention shifted to Peter. With a smirk, he looked from Elsa, who had her brows arched, to Neal, who was now looking at him with an impassive expression. He continued, “He couldn't possibly allow a woman to pay for him." He tutted, “That would be too shameful and degrading." "That'd be a shame to our gender,” some of the boys said as they glared at Neal."Why does a man have to be so poor? Goodness!”The ladies looked at Elsa and some of their gazes narrowed in suspicion. “Maybe that is Elsa's aim, to disgrace Neal." "That's true. I mean, we all know he's poor so obviously he'd accept the offer.”“Elsa is so cruel. Of all people, she chose to prey on p

Most of them burst into laughter at Neal's announcement. "What's with this guy? Does he think everything is a charity because he won a scholarship?" Another boy covered his mouth to hold back his laughter as he chewed his food. "Since we fund his fees through the scholarship, he must think we'll pay for his meals too.”Everyone laughed at that.“His confidence is just ridiculous and even embarrassing. He is a poor man, he should tone down his pride and act like the pauper that he is.”“Honestly, his pride won't get him anywhere." Peter swallowed the crab he had bitten into and looked up at Neal. Or has Neal forgotten he has to pay? That's laughable.“You can't leave, you have to pay before you can," Peter reminded."Maybe he's never been to a restaurant before?” Peter bit down on his lips at the comment to hold back his laughter.Someone from the crowd called out, "That's the thing, Neal. When you go to a restaurant, you order your meal, eat, and pay.”“Yes, just like that. Sorry

Neal was stunned. He didn’t expect the information that the waiter had just relayed to him. Amber never mentioned this to him. Or even say anything about making him a VIP anywhere. How could she keep something this big from him? Perhaps she forgot. It was unlike Amber to not relay important matters to him. Maybe she just didn't consider it important.Perhaps, it was normal for him to be VIP everywhere.“Alright then." He smiled at the waiter as he turned his card to his wallet. So he wasn't going to pay. After all the fuss the group was disappointed was even better than the surprise of having enough to pay.The people were still shocked. They looked between Neal and the waiter who waited before Neal like he was awaiting instructions. They still couldn't comprehend what was happening. How is it possible?" Some of them whispered. While some wiped their faces over and over again, wondering if they had too much wine and were hallucinating. One of Peter's friends shook his head, “There'

They briefly remembered every indulgent purchase they had made so as not to lose face and how they agreed to the ones that Peter had suggested. Instead of taking responsibility, they turned on Peter. Afterall, they mostly followed his lead.“What the heck, Peter?" One of the boys faced Peter. “Why did you choose a restaurant that's so expensive?" “You didn't even consult with us!" "Are they real right now?” Peter erupted back. "You all agreed to go with my choice!”"Because we thought you'd make a sensible choice!” One of the girls shouted back, horrified that she might have to strip."Bullshit!" Peter fired back. “Fucking take responsibility and fuck out of my face!” With that, he walked away, his fingers gripping his hair.He collapsed into a chair away from his coursemates that wouldn't stop blaming him. “How the fuck am I supposed to pay a $500 000 bill when I don't even have up to that?” He muttered to himself as he further gripped his hair. What the heck had he gotten himself

Relieved gasps and cries from the girls filled the room. "Thank you so much, Neal. Thank you," they cried as they calmed themselves down. Then they hurried to Neal, without shame or hesitation.“We're so sorry," they reverently apologized to him, feeling so grateful. They regretted that they had looked down on him just because of his appearance. As some apologized, relieved that they won't have to strip, a few hastened to fix their hair and makeup. Then they began to flirt with Neal again, strongly hoping to get his attention now that they knew he wasn't poor.Neal ignored them completely. They would never learn, he thought. He just let them be because they had apologized like he'd asked. Otherwise, he'd have taught them a new lesson.Neal acknowledged their apologies when they came. He suddenly felt an itch on his temple. He turned to his side and saw Elsa looking at him with a thunderous glare. Her fist tightened around her phone.Elsa was furious. She felt an immense amount of st

“What the heck!" One of the students of Emperors Management Academy blurted as she cupped her open mouth.“Girl! Who is that on your screen?”The girl holding the phone, leaned against the locker and widened her smirk. "Who do you think it is?”"Damn! It's Peter!" The girl yelled. She turned to her friend, “What happened?" She paused, placing her hand on the girl's shoulders. "Wait. The group dinner!" Her eyes widened again and she rushed to check the date on the video. “That was last night." "Correct!”She frowned. "Girl! Fill me in! What happened? I'm confused right now. What is going on?” She finally glanced around her and saw that everyone was on their phone. There was a mix of shock and amusement on their faces as they whispered amongst one another.“I think it's a dare. You know Peter likes to boast," some of them muttered.“No. This is more like something Peter will make someone do. Maybe it's a commercial. They might be getting paid for it." Someone burst out laughing at the

Vanessa leaned against her locker and frowned at her screen. She no longer assimilated the content on her screen. Her mind was somewhere else. She had arrived at school that morning to see everyone huddled together, gossiping, their faces glued to their screens. Her interest at first was piqued but then, when were they not gossiping? So she paid no heed to them. Now, as she waited for the next class, the whispers of her schoolmates reached her but she didn't listen. Not until she happened to hear that Peter was involved.“Peter did this to himself. He shouldn't have made the rule up. Neal-”She abruptly turned to the group of two boys and a girl. "Peter made what happened? What happened to Neal? Which dinner?”"The group dinner, of course," one of the boys supplied.“Didn't Peter invite you?” One of the girls asked.“I was too occupied to attend,” Vanessa shrugged. Though she wished she was able to attend solely because it would have been an opportunity to spend more time with Neal.T
