Chapter 11
“We have the doctor’s report about your wife.” The nurse who had invited Andrew to the reception informed him.“She is not my….” The woman quickly cut him off. “Her blood report showed that she is malnourished, please place her under strict dietary supervision.” She handed a paper to him, “This is the amount of nutrients she has to consume a day, please see that you hire a dietitian to follow this religiously."“Your wife is at a risk of getting really sick because she is barely getting all the nutrients she needs in.”There was no use trying to correct her because she already said what she wanted. Then she glared at him, "Even if you are not rich, work two or three jobs so you will be able to afford to hire one. Women are supposed to be spoiled regardless of your financial situation.” If she was his wife, she would not be that skinny, he would be sure to handle her meals by himself because a dietitian would not even do a better job compared to him.He painstakingly learned how t
Chapter 12
Andrew arrived at the Beecrofts’ manor. He had changed into his grandfather's old suit, which fit him like a glove. While he was growing up, he had a keen eye on business fashion, so he knew the ins and outs of his father’s closet. He didn't know that his father had preserved his grandfather's old clothes. The closet was filled with well-tailored suits from big luxury brands, both local and international, except for the one Lord Beecroft gave him which was from a lesser-known brand. It was as if his grandfather loved the suit a little too much because it was a gift from his friend who was struggling at the time. He had worn it in so many pictures. It made Andrew understand the sentiment behind the suit, so he wore it with pride.Andrew pressed the door bell. A middle-aged, stout man showed up. He sized Andrew up from head to toe. He saw that he was wearing a low quality tux that looked like it had been made decades ago. The young man standing before him did not seem like any of

For what felt like the hundredth time, Andrew blamed himself for forgetting the access card in the cab. He’d wanted to tuck it into his pocket instead of his wallet, but after picking it up from the mailbox, he’d foolishly convinced himself nothing could possibly go wrong. Now, his own carelessness had come back to bite him. He had to deal with it.He just wished the security guard wasn’t just pushing him against the wall. He sighed, rubbing his temple in frustration, his jaw tightening as if the tension might stop the rising irritation in his chest.“Even if I wanted a job here, I’d go through the normal process,” Andrew snapped, his voice sharp as his patience thinned. “Why would I need to go through you? Since when does a gatekeeper decide who gets hired in this household?”The guard laughed, folding his arms smugly. “Now you’ve revealed your real intentions. It’s that job you want. Stop pretending and hand me the five hundred dollars so I can let you in.”Andrew clenched his fis

Andrew entered the sophisticated hall with old architecture just like the one in his grandfather’s home. He understood the depth of their friendship from seeing the similarities between the construction of the Manor.Structures like that were rare to come by in the urban age where civilization had changed everything.“Please have your seat, sir. I will inform the Lord of your presence.” The butler had taken him at the entrance from the security guard, said to him. He was relieved to have left the side of that condescending man.“Do you need me to get you anything in the meantime?”“No, I am good. Thank you.” he said in a polite yet firm tone.“Okay, sir. I will take my leave now." The butler lowered his back then he disappeared down the hallway. Two minutes passed before the door opened, revealing an older man. His hair was completely white, and with one look, Andrew could easily tell he was the Lord of the house.Other people followed him, they included his children and presumabl

She didn't act surprised, as if she already knew or something. She maintained a stoic expression that clearly showed she didn't want to be there either. He wondered if he had not gone out to look for her, would the stranger have sexually assaulted her?Now that this was his business, he made a note to go back and investigate the club to find the man who had dared lay his hands on his wife to be.Andrew glanced at her one more time, and their eyes met. This time, he was certain that she did not recognize him or that she was really a good actress.“This is my first granddaughter, Olivia. If I knew Alexander had you around, I would have betrothed her to you when she was born but she is all yours now.” Lord Beecroft grinned widely.“You don't have to worry about the wedding details or funding, my family will cover it. Just let me know what you want us to do.”“I am fine with whatever arrangement my fiancee makes. It’s her big day too.” Andrew laughed uncomfortably.“Well said, I have a l

Lord George returned to his study after Andrew left to shop for his tuxedo. The old man was happy that Andrew did not turn down his request to buy him a tux, he had done the same for his old friend. He was glad that he could do that for his grandson too before he passed away.No one in the family except the butler, knew that Lord George was terminally ill and only had a few months left.Just as he settled in, a loud kick hit his door. He knew who was at the door from the knock.Only one of his family had the guts to knock on that door in such a manner.“The door is still standing there by sheer luck after all the years of knocking you have done, May.” he said loud enough for the person at the door to hear.“Can I come in, father?” “Yes.”She pushed the door open and walked in, Lord George pretended like he was reading some papers.“Father, that man doesn’t deserve our Olivia,” May said quietly.“Then who deserved to be with Olivia?’ he demanded. “This sensible old man has chosen wro

The Butler soon joined Andrew where he was waiting, “I am sorry for keeping you, sir. We had a hard time finding the perfect spot to park the car.” he apologized.“No, it is fine,” Andrew assured them. “Let’s go in now,”“Okay, sir.” The butler led him right into the shop. As he did, his phone rang. “Please go in, sir. I need to take this call from Lord Beecroft.”“I will join you in a few minutes."Andrew entered the store just to be met by someone he didn't want to lay his eyes upon.“You again?” Ben's forehead creased into a frown, “I clearly asked you not to follow me. Are you determined to cause a scene at the place of my work?”“I wasn't following you. I have no reason to.” Andrew said bluntly which hurt Ben’s feelings. But because of his pride, Ben was not able to accept that Andrew had not come for him.“You came here to cause a scene, so I will listen to you. Do you think my sister would like to hear that you came to my place of work to disturb me?” Ben demanded.“Of course

“You sent for me, Grandpa?” Olivia said quietly as she entered Lord Beecroft’s study, announcing her presence. It was rare for him to do this, asking to see her alone. Everyone in the main lounge was shocked when he rang the bell to see her.Her grandfather preferred to speak to her through her aunt or her mom.George looked up from the book he was reading, "Congratulations on your engagement." he said to her without a smile.Deep down he wanted to smile at her and hug her to reassure her that she had found a good man but the expression on her face stopped him from doing that. She looked as if he had announced that she should die.He gestured to the chair, signaling for her to have her seat then he got up to make them put cups of tea.Olivia saw that her grandpa was making tea for the two of them, she knew this was the best time to speak to him and get a response. He was in a good mood. The old man never made tea for anyone else aside from himself unless he was happy.Though she was

“I apologize for what happened today at that store.” Butler Lee bowed. “I called them beforehand but it seemed like they had changed their sales rep. Nevertheless, I should have asked their CEO to come to the store and wait for us.”“This happened because I wasn’t thorough enough. I am sorry, Mr Pierre.”“It is not your fault. The salesman is the one with no manners.”“I am sure he is being taught a lesson. Where do you want to go from here, sir?” Butler Lee asked Andrew.“I will head home now.”“Okay, sir. What is the address? The driver will take us there now.” Butler Lee offered.Andrew did not take the butler back to his base where he resided to maintain the base’s secrecy, and he didn't want to go back to his grandfather's house. “Butler Lee, thanks for today. I can manage myself just fine from here.”“Sir, Lord Beecroft would want me to take you home safely.”“Please send my greetings to the Lord. I still have to stop by somewhere.” He replied with the intention of going to s
