“I think you should look at him before I have him punished. This won’t be the way I will return him to you.” Marcus inched closer to Alfred just to make sure that his father saw him properly. Thiago’s eyes sparked with annoyance, and he growled even though he couldn’t see Marcus.“Don’t lay your filthy hands on my son! You don’t want to know what I am capable of!” He threatened, but that didn’t seem like it was enough to deter Marcus. “I am warning you! Don’t touch my son! I will kill you!” he barked again, but Marcus scoffed, turning to the two guards who were holding Alfred down. “I want you to lay him down and flog him until I tell you to stop.” He ordered, causing the guards to arch their brows while their mouths were agape. They turned to Duke, but the old man seemed like he was also as surprised as they were as he was not expecting to get such an order from Marcus. Alfred struggled to break free, and he almost succeeded if not for the fact that the guards got a grip on them

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO “I would love to watch you try, Mr. Khan.” Marcus gave a response that the old man never expected, throwing him off balance at once. “Your son is in the Elrond Shopping Mall. That’s where you will find him.” Marcus said, and then he waved at the old man without getting rid of his wry smile. “Hurry up before your enemies find him and take him away. Bye, Mr. Khan.” He ended the call, and then he tossed the phone very close to Alfred, causing it to drop to the ground. “I think we should leave this place.” He said to Duke, and that seemed like exactly what everyone in the small room wanted to hear. Aria was the first to make a move, and then Queen followed at once. Duke didn’t seem like he was in a hurry, his eyes staring down at Alfred. “I am not sure Mr. Trevor is going to like this.” He muttered, his heart beating very fast. “Are you not leaving with us?” Marcus interrupted his thoughts, causing him to look at him at once.“I will be right behind you, Young M

“Our new home?” Aria muttered, turning to her brother for an explanation.“Yes, Miss Aria. Your new home.” Duke affirmed his words with a nod while his smile was still intact. “We should go see the inside.” He urged, taking the first step.Aria and Marcus followed reluctantly, and they couldn’t stop admiring the premises as they climbed the step that led to the main entrance. Duke moved ahead of them and the moment he pushed the doors open, he left them in awe their eyes widening in disbelief. “This is heaven!” Aria gasped, and moved by intense curiosity, she went further into the mansion, unable to concentrate between everything that made the interior of the mansion a wonder. Marcus was dumbfounded, his steps slower than his sister’s as he moved, his eyes moving from one corner to the other. It was very hard for him to concentrate on any particular part of the building. He wasn’t sure if he was to look at the rare and expensive paintings hanging on the walls, the luxurious curtai

“I don’t even know what to say,” Marcus muttered, and then he sighed for the umpteenth time. He thought that he was going to be able to get a grip on himself, but that seemed like a herculean task that was before the other cumbersome task ahead of him. “Don’t worry…” Queen broke the silence, holding onto her smile. “I am going to put you through every step of the way. You have absolutely nothing to be worried about.” She assured, nodding in affirmation. Marcus cleared his throat. “Fine.” He accepted, but it didn’t seem or sound like he did that willingly. However, the old man and the lady didn’t bother about his countenance. They had expected it, and that didn’t deter them from doing what they wanted. “Good. We should get you something nice to wear for this meeting.” Duke said excitedly, staring at Marcus. “Luckily, I have the best person for the job.” He clapped his hands, turning to the right corner with an anticipatory expression. A few seconds later, a man appeare

Marcus was surprisingly silent, but it also appeared that he had plans for Philip, holding onto his deadpan and unreadable expression.Duke was visibly pissed off at Philip’s demeanor, but it seemed like it was already too late to call someone else. He looked at the time on his wristwatch, and that made him grunt. “One more insolent word from you and I will have these men whip you like an animal.” He warned, pointing Philip in the face. The arrogant fellow was forced into silence, his eyes wide with fear. Again, he looked at Marcus, and even though he couldn’t see anything that showed that he was the heir just like everyone said, he had no choice but to believe. “Why is he looking like a mere servant?” He whispered, but he had forgotten that he still had a loud voice. He swallowed hard, staggering backward and wary of the guards who heard him and seemed very pissed. “I am so sorry, Young Master!” Philip apologized the moment he was able to get a grip on himself, looking Marcus i

Philip wished that he didn’t have to obey Marcus, but there was no other option for him.He nodded reluctantly, and swallowing his pride, he adjusted the outfit he was holding, inching closer to Marcus. While Lailah watched him, she prayed silently that it was not going to be the last day she was going to be employed, and the only reason why she was silent was that she knew it was futile to speak. “All done.” Philip nodded as soon as he was done, staring at Marcus just to be sure that he had done well. Marcus looked at himself in the mirror that one of the guards had placed in front of him, and for the first time, he looked like a proper gentleman. He couldn’t hide his smile even if he wanted to, his eyes looking particularly at the jacket that seemed like it had been tailored particularly for him, using his measurements. He chuckled softly, turning to Philip who sighed for the umpteenth time, but the moment Marcus switched into a glare, he was forced to get rid of his smile. “Is

Duke’s voice was very low, but it was enough to convince Marcus who was instantly reminded of what was at hand. He took a deep breath, his gaze switching back to his sister. He said nothing at first, but the old man was able to see through his worrisome stare. “Don’t worry, Young Master. She will be well protected. We also have stewards who will make sure that she gets whatever she desires.” He assured, causing Marcus to nod in satisfaction. “Take care of yourself, Aria.” He said as soon as he returned his gaze to his sister, holding onto his smile. Shifting his gaze to Philip, he gave him a warning with his eyes, causing him to look away at once. “Let’s go.” Marcus walked away, and Duke wasted no time in following him at once. Queen staggered through her first two steps because she was in a hurry to catch up with them, and before long they were already inside the two cars they left in. Marcus felt the uneasiness that gripped him, and because it was too hard for

The ding sound in the elevator finally resounded, and Duke was the first to step out while he waited for Marcus who was taking his time. The ambiance of the place was marvelous, but there was no time to admire it.Marcus was still unprepared for that moment, and as they marched to one of the halls in the building, his heart beat louder and faster like racing horses during the Olympics. The old man hastened his steps when he got close to the wooden doors, and just when he was about to push them open, Marcus took a deep breath, hoping to get a grip on himself. Finally, they were inside the hall, and Marcus’s expression dropped when he saw the two young ladies and the young man seated alongside them at the table. Queen appeared from a corner, holding onto a black folder that contained some documents which she placed in front of the head chair, gesturing to Marcus to take a seat. Gradually, Marcus walked toward the seat, and while he was still on his way, the two ladies and the young

Marcus nodded, and after a few seconds, he turned to Dennis, looking him in the eyes. “I think I will have to go through this when I can, Mr. Ansel.” That didn’t seem like what Dennis and his sisters wanted to hear, their eyes stared widely at the young heir. It was hard for them to get rid of the patches of disappointment that was strained all over their faces, their lips parting slowly while they tried to find their words. “Young…” Dennis stuttered, and then he turned to his sisters, hoping that one of them was going to help him at that moment, but none of them could say a word. They both shared the same bemusement as he, taking glances at each other before they finally returned their gazes to Marcus, hoping that he was going to change his mind. “But this is a very good deal, Young Master.” Dennis finally pushed the words out, staring at Marcus with wide eyes. “I promise you, you will not regret doing business with us.” His voice had become a little bit desperate,

Marcus swallowed hard again, and it seemed like his blood was boiling frantically. His chest tightened while struggling to contain his beating heartbeat. The more he tried to speak, the more it was totally impossible for him to find his words. So he remained silent, acting as though he didn’t hear what the fine lady standing in front of him said. “You still haven’t given me any response, Mr. Trevor.” Trisha broke the silence, insistent on her demand. Marcus sighed heavily, and after scouring the entire place while he tried as much as he could to avoid any form of eye contact with the other people in the room, he cleared his throat, returning his gaze to Trisha. “I guess I will think about it as well, Miss Ansel.” Scoff! “Please!” Trisha waved at him with a smirk all over her face. “Call me Trisha.” She said, replacing her smirk with an alluring smile. “That sounds better, Mr. Trevor.” Marcus nodded with a wry smile, and then he took a deep breath while his eyes were s
