“Master Marcus?” Duke called out, turning to him as soon as he saw the anger glittering in his eyes.“Is everything alright?” He asked, but there was no response.Marcus didn’t even bother to look at him, causing his bemusement to increase. The old man was forced to inch closer to the young heir, and after a few seconds, he shifted his gaze to the men who were approaching with quick steps. He could tell from the reaction of the middle-aged man in front that he was the one Marcus was staring at, but it took him a while before he could make up his mind on the question he was meant to ask. “What is going on here, Mr. Elson?” He asked, sensing that it was easier to ask the man than Marcus who was both angry and pained at the same time. Silas Elson was one of the major board members in the company. Not only did he take some of the major decisions in Cent Cooperation, but his influence was so paramount that everyone in the City knew him in the business world. He controlled most of the r

Silas was left speechless while he looked at Marcus, his anger triggered by his utterance. Again, he looked at the rest of the people standing all around Marcus, and he couldn’t understand why none of them had said anything to defend him. He groaned in annoyance, lowering his finger which had suddenly grown tired of pointing at Marcus in the face.“Are you guys just going to stand there and watch this boy insult me? Even my son would never say such to me!” He snarled, returning his gaze to Marcus who refused to let go of his smirk.Marcus scoffed, and then he turned to Duke, still insisting that he said nothing. “I am not your son, Mr. Elson. I don’t even pray to be your son because I am sure that you are going to be a very terrible father…” Silas gasped, and again, he turned to Duke just to be sure that he heard exactly what he heard Marcus say to him. Realizing that the old man was not going to do anythi

“Don’t tell me that you are trying to pamper this little brat!” Silas snapped, his voice laced with so much annoyance. “He is just an ordinary boy, and you don’t have to explain things to him! Just get him fired and send him away!” He grunted, glaring at Marcus. When he returned his gaze to Queen, he saw the reluctance written all over her face, and that left him speechless. For more than ten seconds, it seemed as though Marcus was totally unbothered about everything that Queen said to him, but he soon decided to ask questions. Turning to Duke, he took a deep breath, waiting until the old man was ready to listen to him. “How is this true, Mr. Duke? How much shares does this man have in this company?” He waited impatiently, thinking of the many things he could do, depending on the outcome of the question he asked. The old man took a deep breath, and then he glanced at Silas while he was still gathering the right words to say in response to what Marcus said to him. The

“I didn’t realize that you thought that I was joking, Silas,” Marcus remarked after a while, looking him in the face. Silas remained silent, sensing that he was not done talking. “I was not joking about what I said, Silas. I own this company, and I don’t think that you should be a part of us any longer. We don’t need people like you who judge others based on past experiences.” Silas took a deep breath, and then he turned to Duke, staring at him with a smirk all over his face. “Mr. Duke? Could you please find a better way to explain to Silas here that he is looking at the owner of the Company he has a meager share in?” “Gladly...” Duke nodded, and then he turned to face Silas who was as confused as he could ever be. “What the Young Master said is the truth, Silas.” He paused for a few seconds while allowing Silas to dilute what he said earlier. “This is Marcus Trevor. He is the new CEO of this Company.” The old man pointed, causing the middle-aged man to gasp while he t

His utterance made Marcus’s expression to drop, but he was still insisting on what he said, looking him in the face.Marcus took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat, holding onto his wry smile. “Why is that, Mr. Duke?” He asked with arched brows, and then he took a deep breath. “Why do I have to go through the rest of the board members? I thought I am the sole owner of this company. That gives me the veto power to kick out anyone I want.” Duke nodded, and while he was silent, he thought about the most suitable words to use at that moment when it was very obvious that he was going to need to say something very meaningful to make his point.“What I am trying to say is that it has always been that way, Young Master. The rules were made by the previous Manager of this company who was managing it before we found you. Your father asked him not to continue any longer.” “I see.” Marcus nodded, holding onto his wry smile. When he turned to look at Silas, he could finally see the

No one said even a word, but their expressions was enough to tell Marcus that they had become nervous after they heard everything he said.None of them said anything to Marcus, they just looked at each other before they turned to look at him. Duke decided to break the silence, and that was after he had cleared his throat, looking at Marcus while he waited to get his attention. “I am so sorry about what I said, Young Master,” He bowed, and only lifted his face when he was convinced that it was the right time for him to do so. “I will do as you have instructed at once.” He said with a convincing tone, and then he turned to Queen, carefully avoiding any form of eye contact with Silas.“You heard what Master Marcus said, Queen. I think you should get on it at once.” Queen’s lips parted, and even though she had already thought about what she wanted to say, it had become almost impossible for her to break her silence. Duke waited for her to make a move, but when it became obvious that

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN Marcus nodded in satisfaction, watching as Queen struggled with the cringe that gripped her while she stood before Silas, waiting for him to grab the envelope containing his termination letter. “You are wasting the lady’s time, Silas,” Marcus said with a smirk all over his face, causing Silas to turn to him, gnashing his teeth in annoyance.Marcus grunted, totally unperturbed by the annoyance that he saw written all over his face, the demeanor that made the rest of the board members wary of Silas, reminded of what he was capable of. At that moment, silence had already taken over, but the heat in the space was loud enough to announce its presence, causing the stillness to linger.Silas finally grabbed the tip of the envelope from Queen, causing her to sigh heavily. At the same time, she moved backward, having accomplished her task and hoping not to be given another regarding that situation. After Silas gave her one long look, he looked at the envelope and was a

Everyone in school had not stopped talking about the encounter between Marcus and the school’s popular kid. Fred had been hiding for a while, afraid to be seen in any public part of the school premises. That afternoon, he was putting on a pair of sun glasses inside the school library even though he didn’t need to no matter where he was, indoors or outdoors. “There is really nothing to do here.” He hissed, expressing his frustration alongside the anger that was brewing inside him.“There is no way I am going to let that brat get away with what he did to me!” He swore, banging his hand hard on the desk. This distracted the junior students reading across the desk, and when they turned to lay a complaint to Fred, they suddenly let go of the idea, realizing that they were going to be wasting their time. One after the other, they stood up and relocated to other desks, murmuring among themselves while they looked at him with side eyes. Fred grunted while looking at the junior students,

“I never knew that you had this in you, Jane!” Fred sniggered, nodding in satisfaction. “If this crazy plan of yours pulls through, then we will be able to make that scoundrel pay for what he did to me.” He grunted, but when he noticed that Jane’s attention was divided, he cleared his throat, wondering why she seemed not to be paying keen attention. “What are you looking at?” He asked with a frown, forced to look toward the direction her eyes had gone. Fred’s eyes widened when he saw the student standing in front of him, arms folded and eyes glaring down at him. “You?” He cleared his throat, and then he looked around as though he was trying to figure out if there was anyone else bold enough to stand up to him. When he returned his gaze to Thiago, he looked at him from hair to the sole of his shoes, as though he was looking for something to mock him with. “How long have you been standing there?” “Long enough to know that you are a piece of trash who thinks he can do as

“I can’t believe it myself.” Another student added, staring at Marcus with her mouth agape.“He looks so handsome and rich!” She exclaimed, laying more emphasis on the last word. “I thought it was a joke when I heard that Marcus had changed.” Another student whispered from a corner, almost dropping the book he had picked up from the shelf in front of him. Marcus walked majestically, marching toward Fred whose hand had been hanging in the air until he finally decided to lower it, feeling the fatigue from keeping it in the air for so long.Mixed feelings swept into the library as everyone thought about the emergence of the new heir. While some thought that Marcus ad ruined a special moment when they were meant to see the fight between Fred and Thiago, some others were convinced that things were about to get spiced up between the two greatest rivals in the school at that moment. While Fred glared at Marcus for showing up at what looked like the wrong time, Jane was busy trying to hide
