Prologue—The Fallen Emperor
A treacherous storm descended upon the shadowy landscape of the vampire kingdom. Locals sought shelter within makeshift enclosures, doors and windows sealed to keep the growing waters from seeping into their homes. Lesser nocturnal creatures traversed the dampened plains, unperturbed by the hefty downpour.Within the grand central city, a collosal structure loomed above the empire. The royal castle remained a treasured part of the vampire's history—their fear and reverence towards the red emperor. At the front entrance, a squad of high-class vampires remained stationed, their sharp pupils piercing through the darkness. Their bodies were adorned with specially crafted silver armour, with distinct designs running across them from top to bottom. They stood defiant before the undulating storm, unaffected by the prickling cold.Numerous chambers existed within the prestigious monument. The proud Darkhaven family inhabited these chambers, many of whom were feared by the populace. In one of

Tyler immediately rushed in, channeling his blood magic through his hands. They crackled with power, crimson beams shooting out towards Kael. Kael quickly moved aside, dodging the attack, but the next moment, the crimson beam altered its trajectory and continued pursuing him. The match arrived at a despicable conclusion, many of the Darkhaven folks raining insidious curses at the ominous prince.Kael's features returned to a neutral state as walked away from the arena, uncaring for what the others had to say.A few wished
Prologue—Deluge
"For someone of noble blood, you have quite the barbaric way of coordinating yourself. If I didn't know better, I'd have assumed you to be one of the beasts wandering this moonlit world," Roman retorted, his expression cold."Trying to appear dignified on the battlefield? Or are you simply trying to conceal your fear?" Kael asked, stretching his hand forward. The luminescent blade returned, its pointed edge facing the composed legacy. "I can smell it—that feeling of being utterly outmatched—oozing from your frightened self."A few moments past, the atmosphere void of vocal disturbance."Enough with these pointless exchanges. Let's do this," Roman said, shifting forward. His movements were rapid and timed, covering the distance to his opponent. A massive wave of crimson lightning sprouted from the limbs of the calm legacy, spreading all across within moments. Kael used blood hardening, protecting his arms with the condensed effect of blood magic. Blood coat shrouded the rest of his b
Chapter 1: The Slums
Ten years later...The acrid odour of rotting meat permeated the atmosphere, drawing in miniscule scavengers from the nooks and crannies of the lesser settlements. Locals went about their arduous daily activities, pushing against inconsiderate odds to make a living within such harsh conditions.Boisterous chatter traversed the fallen plains, robbing the dejected terrain of peace and tranquility. Within the Western region of the empire, in a minor town located around its centre, a young man strived daily to sustain himself.Darkened garments adorned the sickly body of the youngster, his black hair hazy, infested with dirt. An older gentleman worked close to him, his clothes a similar sight. Sweat covered his wrinkled face as he worked tirelessly, moving his tools with the skill and diligence of a seasoned worker.Ezeikel was an eighteen-year-old vampire with bothersome responsibilities. Stricken by poverty, he and his father worked tireless hours just to get by.Kennedy worked as an em
Chapter 2: The Rumbling
His clothes were jet black, weaved from thick leather and strong fabric that covered him from head to toe.He stood right before the group of dead, gazing down at them. His eyes shifted past the corpses, falling upon that which seemed to belong to a female. His vision swayed as he clenched his jaw, hands balling into fists as his brows furrowed."Who's responsible for this," his voice was low, even—yet exuded a force that brought them all to their knees, begging for mercy."Darion, please, we know not how such a thing could happen! We beg of you, spare our li-" his sentence was cut short, a sharp wave of crimson light slashing through his neck, decapitating him.Blood gushed out from the open wound, his body convulsing as it fell against the ground, into a pool of his own blood. The crowd remained kneeling on the floor, barely moving. Some threw nervous glances at the beheaded vampire, their breaths withheld."I won't tolerate any excuses. Now tell me, who is responsible for this?" N
Chapter 3: Crimson
Kennedy and Ezeikel ran away from the carpentry shop, rushing beyond their home. The old man's movements never decelerated for even an instant, his eyes utterly fixated on the road before him.He no longer gripped Ezeikel's hand, allowing them both to run freely, away from danger."We'll get as far away from The Rumbling as we can, entering into another town if we have to!" Kennedy declared in-between audible gasps."But dad, wouldn't that cause more problems for us? The gang that rules Wilston, won't they just slaughter us for trying to jump town?""Who told you that?! As a matter of fact, those people would welcome anyone into their town, as long as you have something to offer them."'That's even more unsettling,' Ezeikel thought."Remember, we don't necessarily need to enter Wilston—that's our last resort. As long as the Rumbling doesn't reach this far, then we're safe," Kennedy's words of reassurance failed to calm his restless son.Their race against time persisted, aching legs
Chapter 4: Dark
"Darion! Please, spare my husband! I understand that you are angry because we are unable to meet with this month's tribute, but please, spare us!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. While all of this transpired, the others simply went about their business, as though an altercation wasn't taking place right before their very eyes.Well, it wasn't like they had the power to change anything. They would simply be throwing their lives away by choosing to interfere."If that doesn't satisfy you, then you are free to take whatever you want from the stall. If fact, you can have it all. My family and I will simply live on the streets. Please just spare us!"Darion remained motionless as he took it all in, his lips curling into a malevolent grin as he swung his hand out.A line of bloor aura shot out, heading straight for the pleading woman. What followed was to be expected—a disturbingly massive splashing of blood that stained the fabrics all around, her head swinging away from her shoulders,
Chapter 5: Daze
'No.. This can't be happening...' Kennedy's thoughts grew heavy, the gravity of the situation pushing down against him with callous force. He pressed his wrinkled hands against his head, feeling a seering pain scorching his skull. His wavering eyes fell upon Ezeikel, whose body remained kneeled, bowing on the floor, his gaze staring towards the ground, unshifting.'I... have to protect him... no matter what!' His body shifted the next moment, appearing right in front of the terrified youth. Ezeikel's gaze elevated, staring at the lean behind of his weakly father. He outstretched his unstable hand, grasping Kennedy's."Father, what are you doing?!" His voice was shallow, yet articulated his flickering emotions with utmost clearance. "Move! Or else... Or else...!""Silence!" Kennedy sneered, not turning back for even a brief moment. "Even if we loose our lives today, that bastard would have to kill me before he can even think of laying a hand on you!"Darion's eyes fell upon the sickl
Chapter 6: Order
Ezeikel's eyes, as distant as they were, scanned their distasteful surroundings. He spotted a pile of dirty clothes sprawled across the floor in one section, a faint pile of rotting flesh and a single narrow jug of bioluminescent liquid placed in another. He saw the engravings he usually drew on the walls as a kid, as well as some of the items he used to enjoy playing with in the past. Though they were not exactly toys, back then, they might as well have been, filling him with mirthful bliss, sheltering him from the horrors that plagued the world they lived in.Then, his gaze moved back to the man seated in front of him, his eyes not straying from his meal, as they usually would.'Hard to believe all of that really happened... It's insane,' he thought, recounting the events that took place after the Rumbling begun—the owner of the tailor shop rushing in, drenched in sweat, ordering them to flee for their lives, him and his father running away from Darion, and the part when Raphael ap
