The envious breakfast
While Maverick was excited to start the day with the golden breakfast package, Ryan cs entered the same VIP section with awe in their faces. The rich youngsters might be in the same room as Maverick, but their tables were different. Maverick, enjoying the dishes served on the golden package table, looked elated as he savoured the grilled lobster on his plate. It irritated Ryan because he had only taken a silver package with the dishes he was familiar with. "Sh*t, the wrecked man really is beyond our prediction," Pablo swore. His eyes were green with envy. No wonder why he felt such a thing since all the time he stayed in the hotel, he only booked a silver breakfast packet, the same as Ryan. Then, Carla, Pablo's girlfriend, joined, "He is not wrecked financially. Perhaps, his appearance doesn't shout luxuries." Amy, Carla's best friend, shook her head slightly. She was a young woman with a stubborn and a bit immature character. Thus, she held a belief that rich men were born i
Another new skill
At 13.10, the class was over. Most of the students packed their things in the bacpack, yet Maverick was not included. Since he forgot to buy a new backpack, he only stepped out with a mini notebook in his right hand. Without any hesitation, he walked, passing people around him. However, his nice outfits were a distraction of all the eyes. Most of the time, in the university, Maverick never cut a dash. He simply wore a hoodie and jeans, and all of them were slightly outdated. Yet, that day, he was in a spotlight all of sudden. The students, who never put glances at him, spotted him in awe with the new outfits. Ella Coleman was one of them. Her eyes were locked to Maverick whom she just noticed as another good looking student in Sunny Drive University. As the campus' empress stared at Maverick deeply, Claire, as her best friend, observed it. She found something in Ella's eyes that were different at that time. That thing w
The granted wish
By flagging a taxi, Maverick hit the road. His smile gleamed with happiness and curiosity since he got a call from Sophia. He was sure it was all about a position in Hampton Corporation. Then, he began to imagine how his life would be once he had worked there. "I believe I can save more money by working as an employee in the big company. Slowly, I may buy my own house, just like a dream I always think of when I have fled from Uncle Marshall's house." Maverick spoke in his mind. Around thirty five minutes forward, he arrived at the company building. The receptionist assisted him by taking him to the fifth floor, the floor where Sophia's room was located. The moment he was about to knock on the wooden door, the old woman got out and smiled warmly. "Finally, you're here, Mr. Parker," She responded in a friendly way. "I try to be professional in this case, Ms." Maverick found another reason besides his desire to secure a good position in the high-end company. "Let's talk in
Asher's hatred
On the way to the hotel, Maverick took a glance on several skycrapers he passed with the taxi. The light blue combining with the warm sunlight was the best view he intended to see, especially before the sunset. At that moment, he realized his future was as bright as the sky. He widened his smile a bit when a past memory appeared on the surface of his mind. The memory was about his fear of getting outcast by Marshall and Louisa. He also ever thought of living as a beggar afterward. However, what had happened to him was like an unpredictable scene in a play of mystery genre. "What a twist," He muttered while enjoying the city view. In less than two minutes, the taxi stopped under the traffic light, aligning with other vehicles and motorists. His eyes were accidentally distracted by the view of stores, located at Free Fall residential buildings. Among one of them, it sold various types of bags. "It will be terribl
Get Defamed
"Do whatever you want to do, Asher. I could not be careless." Maverick gave a cold shoulder to Asher. He accidentally did not feed his cousin's ego. He really preferred peacefulness over unimportant war and drama. After defending himself, Maverick resolved to continue his steps. He went to upstairs, joining with other students for the upcoming class that would happen. While his cousin was focused with study, Asher thought of humiliating Maverick by defaming him. "Brad, you need to copy the photos I have shared in the chat." He ordered while sitting next to Bradley Scott, one of his best friends. "Then? what should I do next? Should I tell Cooper and others too?" Brad threw the questions in wonder. He mentioned those bullies since they always had troubles with Maverick. "Help me to spread the news about Maverick fooling out my parents. You may ask Cooper cs' helps. They despise him so much as far as I know." Asher extended the order. His rage to Maverick grew intensely. He i
Denying the fake news
As the door creaked and opened, Maverick stepped with uneasy movements. The tension in his nerves was mixed with confusion. He could not find a trace of how to handle the instant fake news that tarnished his good image as a scholarship student. "Please have a seat." The woman in her slightly wrinkled face ordered sternly. Her classic beauty exuded firmness and softness by the time everybody stared at her, including Maverick. Maverick sighed heavily. He obeyed the vice dean's instructions. Glancing shortly at her, he gently uttered, "Regarding the news spread, I'm truly sorry about it, Mrs. Harper." The regretful tone in his saying surprisingly did not bother Mrs. Harper. The woman, with long brown wavy hair and dark green orbs, stared at him coldly. After sighing a few times, she inquired, "Are those things true?" "No, Mrs. Harper. Those things are fake. I don't steal my uncle's money. It is my sav
Gathering the proofs
After the lunch break had finished, Maverick returned to his room to continue the training session with Gregory. With the relaxed and fun atmosphere, Maverick began learning and understanding the essence of the managerial role within the company. Moreover, Gregory gave him practice in making simple financial reports. It involved other vital skills, such as typing and counting. For Maverick, it was challenging since he initially knew based on theories and trivia. Yet, having a practice during the day of working was epic. It might be considered as a direct evaluation of his understanding, from the morning until the next hours. When the evening came, Maverick received the proof of early salary payment and the confirmation letter from Dorris. "Thank you, Ms." Maverick thanked her in a relieved tone. The tension in himself became lighter all at once. Dorris nodded and beamed. She understood the trouble faced by the young man. "My pleasure. Hopefully, your trouble can end soon,"
Turning the table
For the next day, Maverick resolved to check out of the hotel before he headed to the campus. He did it because he planned to move into a penthouse with exclusive facilities. Besides that, he attempted to do the next mission assigned by the system. When the time was about 08.25AM, he stepped out from the taxi with a bright smile and better hopes. Though he noticed some students darted death glares at him, he chose to be unbothered. In his mind, he held a belief that he was on campus to study, not to fulfil everybody's ego. To him, being a people pleaser was no good for life. It only caused him to be misused. Furthermore, as he entered the elevator, Elena, Sam, and Claire joined. As the elevator's doors closed, Maverick pressed the fifth floor since the morning quiz was held there, the same as Elena, who was in the same Business major. However, Claire and Sam chose the seventh floor since they were from different majors.

Meeting Jacob Green
Around fifteen minutes later, Maverick and Asher stayed in Mrs. Harper's room. The stiffness and silence vibes were mixed in the wide room that was dominated by bookshelves and study desks. "So, since I have received the proofs from Maverick, it means your accusation towards him is totally wrong, Mr. Parker," Mrs. Harper sternly uttered the words to Asher. She locked her focus on the men standing in front of her. Asher, with his head down, did not dare to defend himself. He had been defeated mercilessly since Maverick submitted the proofs of transaction details to the vice dean. However; the fury of rage in his heart still existed. He would not back down easily after that. Then, Mrs. Harper added another statement, "For you, Maverick, you are free from this matter. You can return to your class and activity. I still have some words to say to Asher." "Thank you, Mrs. Harper. Excuse me," Maverick smiled with a gleam of joy. He then exited the room with light steps. Meanwhil
Chasing the thugs
With the ecstatic feeling in himself, Maverick was willing to get upstairs, joining the female staff. Just like what had been planned, the staff revealed several rooms on the second floor. While the first floor was spacious with a few open rooms, the second floor showed the same spacious area. However, it contained two study rooms and five bedrooms. Some expensive furniture also existed on the floor and in the rooms. "On this floor, you can work or read books in the study room." The staff continued presenting. They entered one of the study rooms which exuded a relaxing, luxurious theme. It contained two large wooden tables with personal computers on each of them. Behind the wooden tables, there was a large window covered by a pair of dark brown curtains. On both sides, there were giant bookshelves, yet not all of them were filled with books. The shelf on the right was full of random things, such as stationery, a mini soldier st
