THE MANSION OF SECRET
Kyle’s jaw tightened. He was not sure if what he was going to say was going to make Arthur pissed but he needed to get it off his chest still. For a moment, nobody in the room spoke. The old man stood there with his thin shoulders squared, leaning slightly on his cane now instead of the wheelchair. His eyes, though aged, carried the weight of command. The kind that had built empires and buried enemies.Kyle hated that look. He knew everything he had was all thanks to the old man trying to find him but then, Alice's words echoed in his ears and for a brief moment, he doubted his grandfather's true intention for finding him. “I said I have my own house,” Kyle repeated, his voice colder this time. “You don’t get to decide where I live.”Kelly’s eyes widened. She has never seen Kyle talked back at Arthur. Adrian slowly placed the glass down and smirked. “Now this is getting interesting.”Arthur’s smile did not fade. “You have my blood. That means I decide more than you think.”Kyle too
KYLE ADAPTING
"Where would you like me to put this?" The man who had Kyle's things brought over said, staring at his face. Kyle looked around, his hand trailing the surface of the polished mahogany wooden shelf in front of him. "Who stayed here before?" he asked. The man kept quiet. The room went into an uncomfortable silence before Kyle turned to look at him. "Is there something my grandfather is hiding from me?" Kyle asked "Of course not, Mr. Kyle. I just think the old man…"He paused. Adjusted his neck tie and looked at Kyle. "I think your grandfather wants to bond with all of you," he replied, trying to keep his courtesy. Kyle noticed and walked closer to him. "Who do you work for? My grandfather or me?" My man looked at Kyle again, his gaze slightly furrowed. "Your grandfather employed me, Mr. Kyle. No matter what, I think I am…" Kyle stepped closer. "Answer my question. Do you think when he dies you get to keep your job if I don't need your services anymore?" The room went silent a
KYLE AND HIS OLD MAN
Kyle did not answer immediately. He simply stared at the old man standing before him.The hallway felt colder now. The servants had vanished, the guards were nowhere close, and for the first time since entering the mansion, Kyle realized Arthur never liked having witnesses when asking dangerous questions."I didn't say you made a mistake," Kyle said at last. "I said I need a life that belongs to me."Arthur's jaw tightened."A life?" he repeated slowly. "You lived in poverty. You were humiliated by your girlfriend. You worked like an animal for scraps. And now you speak to me about life?"Kyle's eyes hardened."Yes," he said. "Because even with all that, every choice was mine."The old man's cane struck the marble floor.Clack! His eyebrows furrowed slightly as he walked closer towards Kyle. "You are too young to understand what power means!" Arthur snapped. "Choice is an illusion for people without influence. Men like us do not choose what we want. We choose what preserves the fami
KYLE, OFFICIALLY UNVEILED AS PART OF THE FAMILY
Arthur watched as Kyle walked away. He knew it was going to take more than a few words to convince him of his plans, but still, he was certain that Kyle was the boy who gets to inherit everything he left behind. "Keep an eye on him, Hendrick." Arthur commanded the door open. Hendrick stared at him and smiled, "I have always had my eyes on him for a while." Meanwhile, the security immediately took Kyle to one of the most expensive boutiques to have his clothes changed. *"No. "Can I see another?" Kyle said, staring at the young girl in front of her. "Why don't you try the navy blue, Mr. Kyle? I am sure they are going to look nice on you," she said with a smile. Kyle stood up, his eyes scanning the suit she was holding. He grabbed it and walked to the front of the mirror. Kyle couldn't help but stare for a while. He remembered when he had nothing. When he had to face constant humiliation from everyone. He shut his eyes and remembered how Tara had humiliated him. The way she talk
THE FIGHT IS JUST BEGINNING
The chatter died. Each of them was trying to understand what Adrian meant by his words.Kyle didn’t move. He simply stood still, as if he were trying to look for the right words. For a second, it almost looked like he hadn’t heard it.Adrian smirked, tightening his arm around Beth’s shoulders as if he had just delivered the line of the night. Beth giggled softly, though there was a flicker of hesitation in her eyes when she glanced at Kyle.It was Beth's smile that made his stomach tighten. This was a lady who was ready to give him the very world, as now she was showing her true colors. Kyle remembered exactly what Tara did to him. It was almost as if fate were happening all over again, but this time, he was not going to be humiliated. The cameras kept flashing, but now the flashes felt different. They were not admiring but anticipating what was going to happen next. And everyone wanted front-row seats. Each of them was eager to see what the fuss was all about. Kyle slowly turned
ARTHUR'S REVELATION
The loud music did nothing to stop the clapping of the guests immediately after Arthur entered the large decorated hall. All the guests stood up and cheered with a bit of a smile on their faces. Arthur, with the air of Hendrick by his side, walked onto the podium and stood in front of the guest. The music came to a halt the moment he grabbed the microphone. Silence. A deafening silence fell. No one spoke. All of them were eager to hear what Arthur had to say or probably shed more light on who Kyle really was. "Do you think he is going to say something intriguing?" "Arthur is known for such." "Maybe we are going to know why we have two heirs in the house." Arthur let the silence stretch just long enough to command every ounce of attention in the room. His sharp gaze swept across the crowd, lingering on familiar faces, allies, rivals, and those who were neither. Then, slowly, a smile touched his lips. “Tonight,” he began, his voice calm yet carrying effortlessly acr
THE FIGHT TO CLAIM IT ALL
Belinda stared at Kyle. "Are you going to go in there, or are you going to make a mockery of him?" Kyle stood still for a moment; he could remember Alice's last words. He clenched the chain that was supposedly his mother's. He also remembered Arthur's words. He was going to lose all in a bit if he refused to dance to his tune. "I guess this is it," he murmured under his breath. Kyle was sure of one thing though; he became a mortal enemy to Adrian and, of course, to whoever Arthur was talking about. Belinda walked closer to him as if she understood what was going through his mind. "You don't need to think too much about this, Kyle. This is your birthright, and if taking it means gaining more popularity and power, then I don't see any reason why you should say no to it." Kyle smiled, "Thank you for coming. I am really glad that you are here," he said, grabbing her hands. Belinda nodded. The two of them walked hand in hand as they climbed the stairs into the hallway.Kyle inhal
ARTHUR'S DEATH
Kyle froze for a moment. The loud sound of the gun was more than enough to send everyone flying out of the building. Everyone, but of course Arthur and the rest of the family. Kyle's gaze furrowed a bit. He looked at the man who gently took a glass cup of champagne and drank from it. "And who is he again?" Kyle asked, his gaze landing on Arthur's."Adrian's father," Arthur replied. Kelly stood by a corner with fear clearly shown on her face. It was quite obvious that she was scared. Meanwhile, Arthur's men were already lined up right behind his back. Hendrick moved closer to Artur, whispering something into his ears. "Whatever happens today, you take Kyle and disappear," Arthur said immediately. "I am not going anywhere, old man. If this is truly my birthright like you claimed, then I am going to fight for what is mine," Kyle said, his fist clenched. The man laughed so hard his voice rang through the empty hall. "Wow! You are truly the son of your father," he said, walking to
THE GUNSHOT
Arthur laughed hysterically. He looked at Frank and back at Adrian. "So you are going to shoot me?" he said mockingly. "If that is what it takes to get what I want, old man. I am going to shoot you." Adrian said with sweat glistening around his face. Kyle looked at the paper as the countdown began. His eyes went to Adrian, who seemed to be unstable, and back at Frank, who was pleased to see that his son was doing exactly what he wanted. "Sign the paper, boy. Walk away from all of this," Frank said again. Kyle shut his eyes. He could remember what Alice said. He needed to find the truth behind the death of his mother and why his father was killed too. "No! I am not signing this." Kyle said, dropping the pen.Frank's face turned pale. He ran his hands through his hair. "Really, kid? Didn't you see the money? I am giving you more than enough to start your life. You can live in any city and be whatever you want. Why are you trying to make me shoot you?" But it was too late. Adrian'
A NEW LIFE IN BOUND
Kyle wasn't alright as they drove into the late night. The drive was awfully empty. His face drained of color as he kept on repeating the scene all over and over again. The thought of the old man dead was painful and also scary in a sort of way. It means one thing. He was back to where he started from. Back on the street, he was trying to hustle out a life for himself. "Are you alright back there, Mr. Kyle?" the guard asked. He occasionally checks the rear mirror to make sure Kyle is alright. But Kyle, he said nothing. His gaze darkened with anger swelling inside of him. "Where are we going to?" he asked, lifting up his eyes. "Somewhere Mr. Hendrick would have wanted me to take you, sir," he replied. Silence. Kyle's phone rang again, and he saw it was Belinda."Are you alright?" she typed. Kyle stared at his phone for quite a moment. He was not sure if telling her what just happened was the right thing to do. "You don't think the gunshot killed him, do you?" Kyle leaps a
