CHAPTER ELEVEN “I am fully aware of that, General. I am also aware of the fact that we cannot belittle the vile nature of Lord Ivan who surely wants to get you out of the way.” Lucian said calmly, looking at the General who chuckled softly.“I am certain that I will be ready by the time he comes, Lucian. You should get going, the paths to your town are unsafe, and I am certain that you are tired from your encounter with the man you just killed.”Lucian sighed softly and after he had given the General one last look, he grabbed the lead rope from the soldier holding onto the horse, and then he effortlessly climbed on top of the horse while still holding onto the rope.“Goodbye, General Hector. I am looking forward to our next meeting.”“Goodnight, Lucian. My regards to your people, and I am certain that they will be happy to learn that I spared your life.”Lucian chuckled softly, looking at the General who had a smirk on his face while he clasped both of his hands behind him.“I will

CHAPTER TWELVE With every stomp, the horse made while it galloped along the path back into the capital city, Lucian bounced on its back, hoping to get to the General before things could get out of hand.He looked ahead of him, but the darkness that lingered couldn’t let him see much even with the rays from the moonlight.“Faster, horse! Go faster!” He kicked the horse harder, causing it to neigh while it increased its speed. Lucian held onto it tightly, and without being told, he knew that whatever he was going to face was going to be very deadly. Even his heartbeat became faster just like the gallops of the horse, and his breath seemed to be looking for a means to escape from him.“That way! Go that way!” Lucian dragged the lead rope he was holding in his hands to the left when he noticed that the horse was heading toward the right, leaving the straight path that it was running on. The horse refused to listen to Lucian, struggling with him to go to the right while Lucian dragged it

CHAPTER THIRTEEN “The General’s sword?” Lucian bent down slowly to pick up the sword, and at a close look, he could see that the edge of the sword had bloodstains all over it, and there were some parts of flesh all over it as well.Lucian was afraid that the General had been hurt even though that was his sword, and when he returned his eyes to the spot where he had picked up the sword, he could see blood trailing from the spot into the house.“The General could be hurt.” Lucian struggled between risking his life to rescue the General, or walking away while he still had the chance to. His heartbeat increased as he was faced with a very difficult and fatal situation.“What if I explode?” He thought to himself, staring at the flames that initially did not give him any reason to be afraid until he heard the warning from Forger who sounded very firm and serious.“Forger? Is there any other way I can get into the house without having to go through the fire?”“There is none, the entire ho

CHAPTER FOURTEENThe moment Lucian tried to take a step toward the exit of the house, another piece of wood fell from the roof, and even though it was smaller than the previous one, the sparks of fire that scattered all over the place from it burnt Lucian on his arm, causing him to grunt while he took two steps backward. He stared at the exit for a while, and when he looked up and saw that another piece of wood was getting ready to fall from the roof, he quickly dashed out of the house, ignoring the fire that burnt his clothes until he was far away from the house, and dropped the General on the ground before he lay on the floor and rolled from one corner to the other in an attempt to take off the fire that almost burnt him.Instantly, General Hector let out a heavy cough while he lay on the floor, and after a short while, he managed to push himself up with a loud gasp, panting while he continued coughing, attempting to get a grip on himself. He managed to keep his eyes open, looking a

CHAPTER FIFTEEN “Where am I supposed to find water, Lucian?” He returned his gaze to Lucian, but when he saw that Lucian was about to close his eyes while he continued wheezing, he carried him up immediately and placed him easily on his shoulder.“Hold on, Lucian! Hold on!” General Hector ran through the path in front of him as soon as he rose to his feet. Lucian bounced on his right shoulder while he moved forward with great speed, scouring the entire surroundings while he searched for water.“I can’t find water, Lucian! I don’t know where I am supposed to see water tonight!” General Hector was overwhelmed by the situation as he struggled with both exhaustion and a clog in his throat. He almost gave up his search for water until he saw a house close by with a burning flame from a lamp reflecting through one of the windows of the house.“I think I know what to do, Lucian. Don’t die yet, I still need you!” Lucian balanced Lucian well on his shoulder, and then he hurried toward the ho

CHAPTER SIXTEEN Lucian took one last look at the couple who were still wary of him while they continued staring at each other. They refused to say even a word even though they had several thoughts running through their minds while they struggled with the nervousness that engulfed them.“Thank you for the water!” Lucian said with a smile on his face, and then he waved at them before he turned slowly and walked out of the house. He looked at the door the General had kicked open, and then he sighed heavily.“Your body has returned to a normal temperature, but do well to ensure that you stay away from any form of heat, or you may not be able to survive the next breakdown,” Forger warned while Lucian was forced to stop instantly in front of the house, looking down with a look of despair cemented all over his face.“I guess I might as well be preparing myself for the worst thing that could happen, Forger . I just have a lot of things to take care of, and there is no way I can abandon the

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN “The tunnel?” Lucian asked at once while the General nodded in response with a smile on his face.“You are correct, Lucian Gale. That is the only way we can go into the palace without being seen. We are going to take down the men one after the other, and I hope that they haven’t done much damage before we get there.”“Is there any other person in the palace apart from the Emperor andthe Soldiers?” Lucian asked, looking at the General who gave his question a quick thought before giving him a response while they drew closer to the Palace gates.“The King’s son went on a journey to the land of warriors to train for battle, while his mother was sent to a secret location the moment the Emperor fell ill, we were afraid that they were going to come after her as well. There are only a few servants in the palace, including the soldiers.”“G

CHAPTER EIGHTEENEven though he was silent and patient at the same time, General Hector anticipated what he planned to do to the mercenary who had caused him so much pain. He continued waiting patiently until he was very close to him, and when he peeped from the back of the pillar to ascertain that he was close to him, he made his move at once, grabbed the brawny man from the back. While he held onto his neck tightly with his left hand, he plunged his sword into his side, pushing deeper and deeper until there was almost nothing left.“Look at me! Look at me!” General Hector turned to the mercenary, who grunted and whimpered in so much pain while blood freely gushed out from both his side and his mouth.“Do you remember me? Do you remember this face, huh? Look at me!” General Titis lifted the face of the mercenary, who was shocked as soon as he recognized him from their previous encounter before they set the small house ablaze.“I want to see the look on your face when you die! You sho

CHAPTER NINETEEN“They are all yours! You can have them!” Lucian nodded in response to what the General said, a smirk on his face, then took three steps backward, which led him to the wall, where he leaned back and watched the scene unfolding in front of him.“This is really going to be exciting,” Lucian said in a whisper while he glued his eyes on the General, who exuded an overwhelming confidence that made him feel deeply concerned for him, aware of the reputation of ninjas, which he had heard for a long time.“Are you afraid? Come on!” The General urged the ninjas who seemed to be taking their time before attacking. He thought that they were probably afraid of him, but they were only calculating the best way to attack him, and when they were able to unanimously conclude, they moved further apart from each other and continued walking slowly toward the General. After a short while, the ninja by the left attacked first with his two katana swords, moving swiftly while the General conti

CHAPTER TWENTYLucian looked at the ninjas with a glare on his face, and as soon as the General walked up to him, he turned to look at him without saying a word.“There is no way I am letting you have all the fun, Lucian Gale.”“Well, do you think you are up for it?” Lucian said with a whisper, looking at the General, who nodded in response, even though the look on his face showed that he was in so much pain.“I hope you don’t give him a chance to kill you. Kill him before he does.”“Gladly, Ian.” General Hector nodded in response, and then he started moving toward the ninja in front of him while Lucian took the other one. Before another blink of an eyelid, the ninjas had already started moving toward them with so much speed. It seemed like they were not the only ones eager to engage in combat as the ninjas bent in a combat posture, holding onto their katana swords before they made the first move.“This is going to take a while,” Lucian said based on what he saw in front of him.
