Chapter 1
The wagon jolted against the street, and Kevin sat with his hands bound tightly behind his back, his heart throbbing against his chest ribs. The crowd lined both sides of the street, their faces twisted with pure hatred as they screamed at him. Rotten fruits and stones flew through the air, crashing against the wooden bars of his cage."Traitor!""Kill the bastard!" "He should rot in the deepest cell!"Kevin's teeth gnashed against each other and his jaw tightened. A rush of adrenaline poured throughout his body, but his eyes stayed cold as stared into every single face that wanted him dead. However, what caught his eyes and squeezed his chest wasn't the angry mob.It was her, the girl that claimed he loved him and would do anything for him, Chloe. The girl that he had given up everything for just to make sure that she was happy, even if it meant that his own happiness was trashed into a bin. Now, she stood at the edge of the crowd, wrapped tightly in someone else's arms, watching h
Chapter 2
That night, Kevin stayed in the cell when he heard cells and cries from other prisoners. Silent footsteps that could not be mistaken as those of assassins moved quickly and the sounds of agony gradually drew closer towards their direction. Kevin's eyes snapped open and his stomach churned, a cold chill crawling up his spine as he stared around him with heightened urgency arched into his brows. They were killing gradually, working their way through each cell one by one.And with his heart pushing hard against his chest, knew that they were there because of him, everyone else were just victims.Another scream echoed closer, then the sound of a body hitting the stone floor. His hands clenched into fists and his chest tightened. He turned toward the man chained beside him.The man was massive, even sitting against the wall and not minding the sounds just outside like it was nothing to him."Aren't scared of what's going on out there?" Kevin inquired and for the first time, the head of th
Chapter 3
A rush of cold chills poured throughout Kevin's body. He didn't have time to waste. The sounds of screams echoed through the prison, and he could hear the assassins getting closer, killing everyone one by one.Kevin quickly moved to the corner of the cell where he had seen something earlier. A small herb was growing from the crack in the wall, right where water had been leaking for months. He pulled it out carefully, then grabbed some of the dust that had been sitting on the floor near the general's feet.Kevin crushed the herb in his hands, mixing it with the dust until it turned into a small, dark ball. His heart beat hard against his chest as he worked fast. When he was done, he turned and held it out to the general. However, the general looked at it like Kevin had just handed him garbage.A thick frown cut through his face and his eyes narrowed."Are you sure you're not just trying to kill me faster?" the general asked, his voice thick with anger. "What's really your plan here? Th
Chapter 4
The general rolled his shoulders and turned his head toward Kevin."Seems it's time for me to keep my promise," he said. The general turned back to face the assassins and cracked his knuckles."I'm going to give you one chance," he said, his voice calm. "Turn around and run while you still can."The three men looked at each other. Then they burst out laughing.Their laughter filled the cell, filled with every hint of mockery."Run?" the leader said, shaking his head. "Old man, did months in prison make you lose your mind?"A thick frown cut through his face as he pointed his spear at the general."Your powers were suppressed for so long you can barely stand up straight. Even if you broke those cuffs somehow, there is no way you can take down every one of us."The second assassin looked at Kevin with pure disgust on his face."And this piece of trash," he said, his voice thick with hate. "This is supposed to be the genius that Lord Elias was worried about?"He scoffed loudly."He looks

The general wiped the blood off his hands and turned to Kevin, with a bow.“Thank you!” The once looks of disdain that had been targeted towards Kevin was now filled with so much reverence. “Now that we are free, what exactly do you intend to do?" he asked. Images of Elias standing on platforms while crowds cheered his name, images of Chloe wrapped in someone else's arms with that satisfied smirk on her lips, flashed through his eyes almost in an instant. His hands clenched into fists not minding the pain that made his blood to boil."I intend to reveal the truth about who Elias actually is," Kevin said with his voice hardening into a dark and cold resolve. "And I am going to get back everything that rightfully belongs to me and beat him in his dirty game.”The general raised nodded."He isn't the maker of all those things that they think he did," Kevin continued, his jaw tightening. "The medicines, the cures, the war strategies, the defensive layouts, none of it belongs to him."H
Chapter 6
The entire hall went silent for just a moment after Kevin's words dropped."If you want the Princess to live," he continued, his gaze fixed directly on the Emperor, "I am the only one who can do something about it."For a second, nobody moved and not a single word was heard. It was like everyone truly listened. Then laughter burst out from different corners of the hall like someone had just told the funniest joke in the world. It started as small snickers from the nobles, then spread like fire until the entire massive room was filled with mocking voices."Is this man insane?""A traitor walking into the Emperor's hall and talking like this?""He says he is the only one who can help the Princess?""Look at his clothes! He looks like he just crawled out of a sewer!""Someone drag this madman out of here immediately!"Their laughter clawed at Kevin without pity and even the grounds of the hall seemed to shake with their amusement. Nobles pointed at him with disgust on their faces, offic
Chapter 7
Elias turned away from the doors where Kevin had been dragged through like a dog and looked at the crystal bed where the Princess lay, his heart beating steadily against his chest. The hall was still buzzing with whispers about the crazy traitor who had just barged in and gotten hauled away in handcuffs. People were still throwing curses at the doors, calling Kevin a disgusting liar, a jealous fool, a slum rat who deserved everything coming to him.Elias could not help the scoff that came off his lips.A broad smirk cut through Elias's face as he reached into his robes and pulled out a small, worn book.Kevin's book. The pages were filled with Kevin's handwriting, years of research that Kevin had poured his life into before Elias stole it all. Elias flipped through the book without shame, his eyes scanning the instructions like he was reading a recipe. He found the page he needed and started preparing the medicine exactly as Kevin had written it.His hands moved carefully, mixing her

Elias tried more tricks from the book, hoping that one of Kevin's magic might just work."What is happening!" he thundered, his voice shaking the entire hall. His eyes snapped to Elias, burning with rage. "What did you do to my daughter!"Elias's body vibrated under its own weight and his hands shook uncontrollably. His face turned white and panic poured throughout his body. This was not supposed to happen. According to Kevin's notes, the medicine should have worked perfectly."I... I don't understand," Elias stuttered, his voice cracking. He grabbed Kevin's book from where it had fallen and flipped through the pages frantically, his eyes scanning the handwriting desperately. However, the more he searched, the more confused he became. The notes only showed the final steps, not the complex reactions between different herbs or what to do when something went wrong. The Emperor could see clearly that Elias had no idea what to do. The man who had been praised as their god sent savior was f
