The general rolled his shoulders and turned his head toward Kevin.

"Seems it's time for me to keep my promise," he said.

The general turned back to face the assassins and cracked his knuckles.

"I'm going to give you one chance," he said, his voice calm. "Turn around and run while you still can."

The three men looked at each other.

Then they burst out laughing.

Their laughter filled the cell, filled with every hint of mockery.

"Run?" the leader said, shaking his head. "Old man, did months in prison make you lose your mind?"

A thick frown cut through his face as he pointed his spear at the general.

"Your powers were suppressed for so long you can barely stand up straight. Even if you broke those cuffs somehow, there is no way you can take down every one of us."

The second assassin looked at Kevin with pure disgust on his face.

"And this piece of trash," he said, his voice thick with hate. "This is supposed to be the genius that Lord Elias was worried about?"

He scoffed loudly.

"He looks like something that crawled out of a gutter."

Kevin's hands clenched into fists behind his back, but his face stayed cold.

The third assassin stepped closer, his chest puffed up with pride.

"We know all about you, General Kaelen," he said. "The man who couldn't accept that his time was over, so he started telling lies to everyone."

His eyes flashed with amusement.

"You went around saying you were responsible for Lord Elias's success. That everything good that happened came from you." He laughed again. "Do you know how many failed losers say things like that?"

He jerked his head toward Kevin without even looking at him.

"You told this slum rat the same lies, didn't you? Promised him that Lord Elias stole everything from you?"

The leader's smirk got even darker.

"Both of you are just two pathetic failures, sharing one big lie."

The general stared at them, his expression flat and unbothered.

"He just might be telling the truth," the general said.

The assassins scoffed even harder.

"Listen to him!" one of them yelled. "Still not ashamed!"

"Old dog doesn't know when to shut up!"

However, the general's eyes turned cold, and something dangerous filled the air around him.

"But I'm not just that," he said quietly.

The leader rolled his eyes.

"Oh? Then what are you? Another fake hero trying to sound important?"

The general's stared at them with a strange calm that made the air to flinch.

"I'm the king of death that the world tried to hide."

The assassins laughed even louder than before, like someone had just told them the best joke they ever heard.

"The king of death?" The leader wiped fake tears from his eyes. "Old man, that might work on drunk villagers, but not on us."

He swung his spear once, warming up his arms.

"Enough talking," he commanded the others. "Kill him first. We'll deal with the rat after."

They launched at the general their movements were fast and sharp. These weren't street thugs or city guards. These were trained killers who had taken more lives than they could count.

However, the general moved faster.

He didn't even move fron where his stood, his hands crashed into their faces, tearing them through the air like paper.

Soon, cries of pain and the metallic scent of blood filled the air and only their leader was left.

All the arrogance that had been on his face disappeared instantly. His legs shook and fear climbed up his spine like ice water.

He pressed his back against the wall, his spear trembling in his hands.

"Who... who are you?" he stuttered, his voice cracking.

The general turned his head slowly to look at him.

"I told you already," he replied. "The king of death that the world tried to hide."

The leader's whole body shivered, and his spear clattered to the floor.

However, panic didn't stay on his face for long.

Suddenly, something else flashed in his eyes. His back straightened, and that familiar arrogance crawled back onto his face like a rat trying to climb out of a hole.

"Wait," he said quickly, trying to make his voice sound steady. "Do you know who I am?"

The general said nothing.

"My family is the biggest assassin family on the entire continent," the man said, his chest puffing up with pride again. "The Black Fang family."

His eyes lit up as he spoke the name, like it was supposed to make everyone bow down.

"We have killed kings. We have destroyed entire clans. One word from us and cities burn to the ground."

He pointed a shaky finger at the general.

"If you lay a hand on me, they will hunt you down. They will not stop until they find you and tear you apart. Not just you, but anyone who helps you."

His voice got stronger as he talked, like he was remembering how important he was.

"But," he continued, "if you help me right now, it can be different."

His gaze slid to Kevin, and his eyes turned cold.

"Kill that slum rat," he said, pointing at Kevin like he was pointing at garbage. "Finish him off for Lord Elias. Then get me out of here alive."

He lifted his chin like he was doing the general the biggest favor in the world.

"If you do that, I can talk to my family. I can make sure they don't kill you too painfully. At most, you'll just have to serve a few years for daring to touch me tonight."

However, the general's face turned icy, causing the temperature in the room to drop almost immediately.

"For someone like you, that's already more mercy than you deserve."

In that instant, the leader's eyes sank into his socket

There was no fear in his eyes. It was something that looked almost like pity.

"Sadly for you," the general said slowly, his voice carrying a hint of regret, "I don't break promises."

The leader blinked in confusion.

"And also,I don't even fear fear." The general added, his gaze turning darker,

His lips pulled into a cold, deadly smile.

"So tell your family to come find me. I'll be waiting for them."

The leader's face froze. Confusion and rage flashed through his eyes at the same time.

"You—"

Before he could finish, the general's large hands grabbed the man's head and slammed it down against the stone floor with brutal force.

The sound echoed through the entire cell. Blood exploded across the ground, splashing onto the general's legs and the walls.

The man's body twitched once.

Then it went completely still and lifeless
