CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE Rufus lifted his brows the moment he heard the words from Noah, who slowly returned his gaze to him after making sure that no one was eavesdropping on them. “A secret library?”“Yes. A secret library, Rufus.” Noah nodded to affirm his words, and after shielding his mouth with his right hand, he continued. “I think it was built in the past, way before this school became existent. The books there are so old, but they contain so many secrets from the past and even predictions. There are books on teleportation, time-traveling, space, reincarnation, and even magic.” Noah shook his head in excitement, staring at Rufus, who struggled not to express the frenzy that lingered in his mind, ready to let itself out. “Sometimes, I hear voices when I am inside the library, but no one ever shows up. I was thinking that it could be some of the students in this college, but no one seems to know anything about it. I am sure that the school would have reported it to the government

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO Slowly, Rufus walked toward the Dean, who stood patiently waiting for him to get very close before he turned around and headed to his office, with Rufus following him behind. “Mr. Cassius? Is everything okay?”“Just come with me to my office, Me. Garfield. We need to have a word.” Michael said without turning to look at Rufus while he climbed up the stairs that led to his office. He walked into the room as soon as he unlocked the door, headed to his desk, and sat down in his seat. “Please, have a seat, Mr. Garfield .” Michael gestured to Rufus, who refused to sit even after he had glanced at the seat. “Thank you, but I would prefer to stand.” Rufus folded his arms while he waited to hear what the Dean was going to say. He already knew the reason why he summoned him and had already thought of a suitable response to give to him. From the look on the Dean’s face, it was certain that he was a bit nervous to speak to Rufus, who wasn’t like the other average student

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE Rufus descended the stairs and made his way toward the classroom block with so much anger boiling inside him. “That coward! He calls me a drug dealer and a drunkard! I should deal with them when the time is right, all of them!”“Relax, Rufus. Do not forget what lies ahead of you. All of these are distractions that can set you back from your path.”“Cyra? You are still here.”“Of course, Rufus. I am always here with you until my time is over.” Cyra responded at once while Rufus walked into the classroom block and sauntered through the hallway that led to one of the laboratories in the building. “Well, I thought you had left me. You suddenly became silent and refused to give me an answer to the question I asked.” “Focus, Warlord. You still have the ancient book to find, you still have a lot to learn.” Cyra caused Rufus to go into a period of thinking while he continued walking slowly toward the laboratory. “How long is this supposed to take? How long am I suppo

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR Circe turned to look at her maidens one after the other, and with a single motion of her hands, she instructed them to go after Rufus. “Grab him since he likes it the violent way,” Circe commanded with a smirk on her face, and the maidens rushed toward Rufus with signs that showed that they were waiting for that moment. “Okay, ladies, calm down. I am sure we can sort this out peacefully. No one needs to be violent.” Rufus smiled at the maidens who were getting closer to him, but they refused to reciprocate as they glared at him, ready to make use of the weapons they wielded. Rufus continued to move backward while Circe stood at a spot with her arms akimbo, looking at the maidens who increased the pace of their steps while they went after Rufus. “This is really gonna be difficult,” Rufus whispered, only to his hearing, while taking several steps backward, wary of the two angry ladies in front of him. He looked at the weapons they had in their hands, and he was

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE Rufus was forced to stop while Circe started to walk toward him with slow but steady steps. “I almost forgot about you.” Rufus sighed softly even though he got no relief from it. “I underestimated you, mortal,” Circe said with a smirk on her face. She turned toward the maidens who were still grunting in pain, and scoffed at them before returning her gaze to Rufus. At that moment, she became a bit wary of him and was cautious of not being attacked by him as she saw that he wielded more powers than she had imagined. “You may have been able to defeat my maidens, Rufus. But I will be back for you when the time is right. Clovis may have bestowed his powers on you, but that doesn’t mean that you will be half as the conqueror he was.” “You may be right, Circe. But that doesn’t mean that I will give up. You can try as much as you want, but I will never go back to your island with you.” Rufus stood on his unshaken resolve, looking at the Enchantress, who chuckled soft

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX The rest of the activities at the college took place as usual, with everyone going from one classroom to another and attending some other events ranging from sports training to rehearsals. Julius had been so embarrassed by all the things that took place in the school that he had to go home, abandoning his friends who searched all over for him without seeing him anywhere in the school. By the end of all the activities Rufus had in school, he headed to the parking lot where Andy was waiting for him beside the car. “Lord Rufus…” The Chauffeur bowed slowly. “Hello, Andy. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for so long.” “Not at all, Lord Rufus.” Andy grabbed the handle of the back door and opened it slowly, waiting for Rufus to get in before he shut it slowly. “Lord Rufus?” Andy looked at Rufus through the rearview mirror while he held onto the steering wheel with both hands. “Yes, Andy? Is there a problem?” “Mr. Damian instructed that I take you to the company st

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVENRufus eventually pushed himself up from the bed and headed to the bathroom to have a quick shower before putting on the gray suit, which fitted him perfectly.“She was right.” Rufus smiled while he admired his outfit, alongside the brown Clark shoes, which he got from the wardrobe. Certain that he looked like a young CEO, Rufus nodded in satisfaction, adjusted his jacket before he walked out of his Chambers, and headed for the exit of the Castle. “Lord Rufus? You are back.” A female voice called out to him while he was still in the hall, trying to get to the exit doors in front of him. Monica quickly hurried toward Rufus, who turned around to look at her as soon as she called out to him. “Hello, Monica. It’s you…” “Welcome, Lord Rufus. It appears that you are on your way out.” “Oh yes, Monica. I have an important meeting to attend.” “But you just got back from college. You must be really exhausted and famished. I already asked Olianna to prepare something r

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT Rufus kept his eyes on the lady who gave him a coy smile while she stood by the right-hand side of Damian, who was getting ready to make a formal introduction.“Lord Rufus? This is Mr. Nick Raven. Nick here is the Manager of your family’s company; he has been the one managing things for over ten years…” Damian said to Rufus, who nodded in response, and then he turned to look at Nick with a smile on his face. “Nick? This is Lord Rufus Garfield, the heir to the Garfield conglomerate.” “It’s such a pleasure finally meeting with you, Lord Rufus. I was hopeful that this day was going to come.” Nick extended his hands for a handshake while Rufus grabbed them slowly and shook him instantly. Nick’s face showed great gladness that he had set his eyes on Rufus, who was still trying to grasp meaning from everything that was happening so fast. Next, Damian turned to look at the young lady who was eager to meet Rufus, who wasn’t aware that she was still staring at him wi

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE Rufus stepped into the Conference hall a few seconds after Damian had gone in; his eyes went straight to look at the four men who were suited at the two corners of the long wooden table in the middle of the hall, two at both sides. They were clad in black suits and had some files lined up in front of them while they whispered some inaudible words amongst themselves. Three of the men were in their middle age, while the one who was seated in the first seat by the left looked very much older than the rest; his face showed signs of retirement as the wrinkles lined up on his forehead bore witness to the fact that he was supposed to be taking an eternal break. The moment the four men dressed in black suits saw Rufus walking into the Conference Hall, they stood up slowly to show their homage, while the oldest man among them seemed a bit reluctant to do what the others did. From his countenance, it was visible that he was forcing a smile on his face even though he ben

CHAPTER FORTY For a few seconds, no one said anything as Rufus stood in front of James, who maintained a smirk on his face, showcasing the wrinkles on his face that complemented the gray hairs that grew like patches on his partly black hair. “I think we should all get seated, Gentlemen.” Nick broke the silence that was lingering in the room, gesturing to everyone to sit down. Rufus was the first to grab a seat; he pulled the black seat at the end of the table meant for the position of the CEO and sat down slowly before he rested his hands on the table and sighed heavily. His uneasiness lingered, and so did his curiosity and the fact that he wasn’t sure of what he was doing. He looked at the four men who slowly sat down in their seats, and he could see the looks of displeasure that were written all over the faces of James and Silas, who reluctantly grabbed their seats and sat down. Silas brought out a brown cigar from his jacket, which he lit and took several puffs from without min
