CHAPTER ELEVEN “Shiva, I need your strength, give me the power to see my friend one more time.” “Confirmed,” Shiva said as Marcus looked up, his facial expression had already changed from fear and regret to anger and composure. He placed his hands on Henry, looked behind, and signaled for healers, then took some steps forward. He unsheathed his sword, and as he dashed in, it was as if he vanished, next, he was seen close to the head of the manticore; he went in for a strike, but the manticore deflected with its hand and then attacked him with its stinger, which he dodged by jumping out of the way. “Take everyone to safety, I'll buy you some time,” Marcus said as he charged in again and this time towards the Chimera. This made the two beasts focus on him as he kept fighting them, and the close-range fights backed him up.Then it occurred to Henry that Ivan was nowhere to be found; he looked around and still couldn't find him. “Where's Iva…?” Before he could complete his questio

CHAPTER TWELVE Weapons began clashing as the battle between Marcus and Ivan went on for more than thirty minutes; both men were on the offense as they kept looking for an opening to deal a fatal blow to one another, but all to no avail. Henry, on the other hand, was shocked at how Ivan could keep up with the pace of Marcus, who was said to be an S-ranked; all he could see were flashes and blurry movements. He came to the conclusion that he couldn't follow their movements and he would only drag Marcus down if he decided to help, so he began putting effort into gathering the remaining survivors of the incident, and the remaining tankers kept their shields activated as the surviving healers tried to heal the injured. Helen, who survived with some minor injuries because she was close to Henry during the fall, had already taken potions that healed her completely, and after that, she began healing all the available injuries, starting from the critically injured. Henry took the less busy o

CHAPTER THIRTEEN “Great way of saying to hurry up or die, Shiva,” Marcus said as he charged towards Ivan, who was already turning into a beast-like human, he took out his right hand and legs, but before he could go in for another attack, they were already regenerated. Marcus went in again to deal more damage, but Ivan kept regenerating; for the fifth attack Marcus went in for, Ivan used his claw-like hand and hit him to the ground, picked him up, and threw him across the chamber, but that wasn't the end. Marcus got up and held his sword up, then the cloak of flames formed Phoenix wings behind him, and then he charged in. He kept dealing damages as Ivan regenerated, but the regeneration was getting slower over time because the Phoenix flames could burn anything down; this kept going as Marcus didn't want to back out in dealing the damages, and Ivan was already at the brink of death. With the last strike, Marcus looked him in the eyes and said, “This place will be your grave.”He sli

CHAPTER FOURTEEN After five days in the clinic, Marcus was discharged but was told to continue his visits to the clinic for check-ups, this was to keep his mana core in check, especially after a dungeon raid. Lora was happy that her brother was coming out of the clinic and she could give him the surprise that she had for him; they went for a little walk around the town square, and then they went to a restaurant to have a meal. They also headed to the guild association to claim his share of the raid price but they were summoned by the guild master on sight. At the guild master's office, Angus was seated at his table while Lora and Marcus stood at the front of the table, he looked at them and said, “Marcus, I take that you're recovered from the battle you had in the dungeon, so I'll cut right to the chase. You're being summoned by the king.” “News of the dungeon raid and the dungeon mishaps had gotten to the council of the king, and the king himself demanded that he meet the savior

CHAPTER FIFTEEN The king's envoy was already waiting for him when Marcus got to the guild; he woke up a bit late and had to listen to his friend's lectures on how to act nobly. It went on for some time as he got ready, and then he left after having his breakfast, which his friend also insisted that he did. “You're late,” Angus said as Marcus got into the carriage that was meant for them. Marcus, who looked like he was chased by a mad cow, sat opposite Angus, took a deep breath, and began explaining how his morning went with his friend and also apologized for his lateness. Angus who already understood smirked and said, “Well, that can't be helped. If I was Lora I would also be worried about you.” With much gratitude, Marcus thanked Angus as the envoy left the guild and rode towards the capital of the kingdom. They got to the palace the next day during the councilmen meeting with the king, a guard walked up to the king in the palace hall and told him in a whisper, “They're here, yo

CHAPTER SIXTEEN “Ohh, he's waking up,” a voice said as they poured Marcus a bucket of water. Regaining his consciousness, Marcus tried to get up but was tied to a chair; he looked up and saw a sketchy-looking man standing beside Angus. Marcus was surprised as he asked, “Angus, what are you doing here? I thought you were with the king?”With a mild chuckle, Angus placed his hand on Marcus's head bent it backward, and said, “This is where I want to be. Anyways, we'll start with questions.”The sketchy-looking man walked up to Marcus and asked, “How did you find this basement side of the palace? Who told you about it? Who are you working for?”Marcus, who was perplexed by the question, kept telling them he knew nothing about what they were asking and they kept torturing him. They broke his fingers one after the other as they asked and broke his toenails one by one also. As they went to get another torture equipment Shilla said, “Notice, Do you wish to automatically heal from the in

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN With that, he kicked the man hard enough that he fell into the underground world and ran out, augmented by Shilla. He went fast to the king's palace, but there was already a commotion, and he had to change direction. He ran into an alley that was filled with beggars, and his pursuers went past as he hid in one of the beggar's positions and covered himself with rags. He got up and thanked the beggars for their aid and walked towards an inn that looked shabby. “If I want to survive for today, I need to hide. This would be a good spot to hide,” Marcus said to himself as he got into the inn and saw that it was more shabby on the inside. He walked up to the counter, met the man there, and asked for a room which he was given. “Good thing I accepted the money Lora gave me as an emergency. Lora, you're a lifesaver,” Marcus said to himself. He got into the room, sat down, then looked out the window, The guards were at the entrance of the inn, and he saw them ransack eve

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Marcus stared at the man while he struggled to find his words, but he needed no one to tell him at that time that there was trouble, and he couldn’t trust anyone, not even himself at that moment as his body seemed to be frozen still, and his hands began to tremble. “Are you okay, Sir?” Asked the first guy who was seated at the table with his companions, but Marcus was short of words. He looked at the three of them one after the other, and with a slight nod, he attempted to tell them that he was fine. Apparently, his words were not enough, and it became very obvious that they were waiting for him to speak. “I am fine, I was just not expecting to hear such terrible news. How did this happen?” “They said it was a young man who was invited to the palace. He led am attack on the king and stabbed him with a dark blade after he had killed his royal guards.” “Yes, they said he is more powerful than even the greatest S-rankers in history, he is more powerful than Henry!”

CHAPTER NINETEEN “You needed to see your face, man. You looked like you were about to cry!” Randolf said, and then he burst out into another uproar of laughter which he sustained even when his friends signaled to him to stop. “That’s enough, Randolf! You are keeping the young man uncomfortable. Can’t you read the look on his face!” The first man who seemed to be older rebuked him at once just before he turned to look at Marcus with a smile. “We didn’t get your name. I am Borius by the way…” The first man extended his right hand toward Marcus for a handshake while he maintained a smile on his face, but Marcus remained silent. When Borius was done shaking him, the second man extended his own hand to shake him as well while he gazed at Marcus with a smile on his face. “I am called Vinicius the Great, but you can call me Vinicius, just Vinicius.” “You already know my name, everyone knows my name. But I will tell you just in case youmay have forgotten. My name is Raondolf, and I like

CHAPTER TWENTY Marcus hid behind one of the huge pillars in the corridor close to the diner where he ran out. He remained there silently, peeping from the little space between him and the way just to be certain that no one was around. “He certainly isn't going to give up anytime soon. I wonder why they think I killed the King,” he whispered in thought while he attempted to control his heartbeat which suddenly became faster than usual as though it was racing to an unknown destination. He could hear the imperative utterances of Lord Stephan from the moment he walked into the diner till he began to address the people in the hall before leaving with his soldiers. “A man poisoned the King, and we must find him! He must pay for his actions! While the Artist is still preparing a sketch of him, we would love to inform you of the need to report every form of suspicious movement, especially by any individual whom you think is suspicious. The individual responsible for this hideous should ne
