"Swordsmanship, A ranked combat class!" The announcer exclaimed, vibrating under the weight of the news.

The crowd that had come over to watch the awakening ceremony erupted from their seats, guild masters rushed forward like little children scrambling over candy.

"We will have him, no, we will have him!" They quarreled amongst themselves while Henry Cave watched them with a smirk on his face.

Meanwhile, Marcus Cave watched them as they went after his stepbrother, one after the other to give him a hug, his father had a blissful smile on his face.

"Once again you made this family proud!" They spoke like they had not gotten him a golden grade awakening serum that cost a fortune, more than the average household earnings for ten years.

They spoke like they didn't already know that the least he could awaken with the serum was a B class while he had gotten more.

Even Jessica, his girlfriend, walked over to Henry and hugged him tightly.

"Congratulations!" She said, a deep contrast to the cold and distant edge that she always had around him whenever they were together.

His stepbrother walked past him, the smirk still on his face. "That's how it's done, my pitiful brother. Or should I call you the trash of the Cave family?"

It wasn't supposed to hurt since that's how he had been treated since he turned 6, after the death of his mother.

He was barely allowed at their tables, he had to live on their leftovers and though he was a legitimate son of the household, even servants got better treatment than he did.

"Now we will have Marcus Cave!"

The announcer announced with a voice and a tone that dragged from boredom, and the faces of everyone seated there instantly went stale.

"Should he really partake in the awakening ceremony? What a waste of time!" He heard someone say behind him.

They didn't bother if he heard them or not, after all, he was the trash of the Cave family.

Marcus looked at his father. His face was beyond stale, it twisted and knotted with the thick sense of irritation rising and falling on his breath.

And Jessica shifted away slightly, not wanting to be associated with him.

"Well I heard he got a Silver class serum, maybe we are in for a surprise!"

The words stabbed a claw into his heart. His father had not even bothered to get him a serum for the ceremony, not even the most basic of them.

Mr. Cave told him that he was better off as a farmer, or nonexistent instead.

Thankfully, he had saved all his life for this and was able to get a silver grade serum.

He was going to prove all of them wrong. His hands vibrated with anticipation that sank deep into his bones.

All his life, he had waited, worked and trained for this moment. Everyone knew that your body affinity had everything to do with the kind of class you awakened.

And even though he didn't get to train with others, he would make crude instruments, train as hard as he could with bags of sand, sleeping barely 5 hours every day since he was 8.

Since it dawned on him that if he wanted to survive this world, he could not mope around like a loser. He had to fight for his survival.

Marcus stepped forward, his hands clenched tightly.

He saw Henry walking towards him, with a smirk that only he could see.

"Try not to disgrace our family, or just kill yourself out there, it will be easier for everyone to live without you!" He whispered into Marcus's ear, and afterwards he yelled.

"You can do this, Marcus!"

For the first time since Marcus walked up, everyone cheered, not for him however, the cheers were for their golden star.

Marcus's face twisted with irritation and the deep sense of disdain arched deeply into his bones as he pushed Henry away, slightly.

However, Henry tumbled on the floor multiple times like he had been hit by a hurricane.

Everyone gasped and his parents quickly rushed forward.

"Why did you do that, Marcus? I was only trying to encourage you!" He said, his face twisted with pain like he had really been wronged.

Mr. Cave's hands trembled and he slapped Marcus right in the face.

"How dare you, how dare you lay a hand on your brother!" He glared.

"Taking your self-pity out on others, how pathetic of you!" He glared, helping Henry up from his feet, who quickly rushed to hold his hands.

"Stop it, Father, I'm sure he didn't mean it, please don't be too hard on him!" Henry pleaded.

"Awwn!" The crowd erupted.

"Henry is so modest, defending the sly snake after everything he just did."

"If I were in his shoes, with the powers I have, I would have murdered the bastard with my bare hands." Another member of the crowd added.

"Stop the drama, Marcus, you don't have to take your anger out on someone else!" Even Jessica believed that he was wrong.

Marcus scoffed, anger filtering through his veins as he stared at them, pouring out their affections.

He stared at the orb and back at his parents. He was going to prove to everyone that he wasn't as pathetic as they claimed he was.

With the serum in his hands, he was going to awaken a powerful class, or at least something decent enough for him to live a good life and stay away from them forever.

He ignored their drama and walked up to the stage. In one go, Marcus downed the serum and touched the orb.

The light pulsed so brightly that everyone had to cover their eyes and Marcus felt a strange jolt of electricity roll throughout all of his body like a wave.

When the lights eventually died down, everyone held their breath in anticipation, the reader moved closer to the terminal placed just above the orb to proceed with the readings.

Then his face turned stale.

"E ranked Mortician Class." He announced and everyone's face washed up with shock.

"It's even worse trash than I thought it would be!" Someone said through the crowd.

Elena was still stunned, her back pressed against the rough bark of the dead tree behind her.Even for someone who was powerful, they should have taken a while to defeat the beast. Elena glared, taking her eyes away from the fight and pressing her back against the dead tree behind her.In her eyes, Marcus was as good as dead already cause he definitely didn't hold a candle to that monster.
