CHAPTER THIRTEEN Vera sat down beside Julius who slept peacefully until the next morning with a smile that showed how peaceful his night of sleep was. “Diego! Wake up!” Her loud whisper resonated in Julius’s ears, causing him to grunt as he turned to the other side with his eyes still closed, and his arms widely spread across the bed. “Diego! Wake up!” Vera tapped Julius on the forehead, and he opened his eyes instantly, groaning as he turned to his right. “I had the most amazing dream last night. I wish it could come to pass.” Julius said with a weak tone, and then he turned to the other side of the bed, yawning with his eyes closed. “Whoa!” He almost jumped out of the bed as soon as he saw Vera seated on the bed with a smile on her face. “Good Morning, Diego. I can see that you slept well.” “It wasn't a dream?” Julius wiped his eyes with both hands and when he was done, he blinked severally to be sure he wasn't hallucinating. “You are real.” He slowly touched Vera who chuckl

CHAPTER FOURTEEN Julius got into the white Bugatti as soon as the Chauffeur opened the door for him, and they drove straight to Hilton’s college, moving through the avenue that led to the students’ parking lot until Andy parked the car, and alighted at once to get the door for Julius who was in the back seat. At that point, the attraction of all the students who were in and around the parking lot marveled at the sight of the exotic car that they had not seen before on the Iron Clad Society premises. Sights of admiration were gazed at Julius as he stepped out of the car, and adjusted his clothes with a confident smile on her face. Coincidentally, Trent was also at the park with Isabella and Dan, and his spotlight was stolen from him as everyone who usually wanted a photo of him or just wanted to say hi including the ladies changed their focus to Julius whose entire appearance was both intriguing and catchy. “Who the hell is that?” Trent’s eyes stared curiously at Julius who was sur

CHAPTER FIFTEEN The three companions continued to stare at the building where Julius had entered, even though he was out of sight. The silence in their midst was accompanied by a great deal of suspense and tension, making them very afraid. At that moment, most of the cadets who were busy talking about the new hot cadets had started heading to their various classrooms, ignoring Trent and his companions whose time had elapsed entirely. “How did he know about Julius?” Morris broke the silence after a long time, and then he changed his focus to Isabella who was dealing with the guilt that surged through her veins even though she tried to hide it. “Isabella?” Trent called out to her with a low but firm tone, trying to be confident even though he was very nervous. “Did you tell anyone about Julius?” Trent asked with a low tone that also expressed his nervousness, but Isabella felt offended by his words and lifted her eyebrows in shock. “Why would you even ask me that? I mean, why woul

CHAPTER SIXTEEN Julius became the hottest topic in Combat society that morning as everyone who saw him walking through the hallway had their eyes on him, wondering who he was, and when he had gotten into the Combat society. On the other hand, he knew his way around the Combat society, and that made everyone who saw him walking confidently to the locker room for the senior cadets to wonder how he was able to know all of that since he was evidently new to the Combat society. Most of the new cadets who had come to the Combat society always needed someone to show them around, but the dashing young man seemed to know even more than some older cadets. The bell had stopped ringing for the cadets to move to their classrooms, but some of them were still standing along the hallway, talking about the new cadets or some other topic that they had left out as a result of the weekend. Julius listened attentively to see if any other person was going to talk about him and the tragic incident, but

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN There was a sudden silence in the room which even attracted the attention of the Professor, but he felt the cadets had decided to behave themselves for once without being told to and continued writing slowly on the board. Trent felt a bit embarrassed by the fact that Julius ignored him, he looked around quickly, and he could see that the rest of the cadets were eager to see what he was going to do. They had always known him to get what he wanted no matter what, and they were certain that the situation was not going to be an exception. “Didn’t you hear me? I said you should get up from my desk!” Trent’s voice was still imperative, but Julius still ignored him and acted as though there was no one around him. This made Trent feel more embarrassed, and he felt that his reputation was at stake at that moment. He looked around the classroom, and he could see that the eyes of all the cadets seated in the classroom were waiting eagerly to see what he was going to do to

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN The last lecture they had was on anatomy before the bell for lunch break went off, and everyone left the classroom except for Julius who sat back, waiting patiently until everyone was out. “Vera? Are you there?” “Always.” Vera’s voice echoed from within his head, and he sighed softly while he looked around to be sure that he was really alone, and that no one was coming into the classroom. He was about to speak when he saw two ladies walking into the classroom with coy smiles on their faces. Their steps were slow but steady, and it was obvious that they had something up their sleeves as they walked up to him.“Well, it seems you have some admirers already.” Vera teased, but Julius said nothing as he stared at the ladies who were already close to him, and were definitely going to see him if he said anything to Vera. Julius looked at the ladies more closely, and after noticing that they looked identical, he realized that they could be sisters. They had the same long

CHAPTER NINETEEN Julius looked at the cadet who was still on the floor while everyone laughed at him, including the twins who were standing close to him. He recognized him as Noah, one of the Junior cadets with impaired sight who was bullied by almost everyone in the college. “He is so clumsy! What a waste!” Zoe said with so much ridicule laced in her voice while she and her sister continued to laugh scornfully at Noah who still couldn't find his eyeglasses even though it was right in front of him. Looking at Noah at that moment, Julius was reminded of what he had gone through at the hands of Trent and most cadets who bullied him the way they wanted because he couldn’t do anything, and obviously needed to work for them to afford his fees. “Get up! Out of the way!” Trent kicked Noah on the belly, causing him to grunt in pain while he stretched his hands across the floor, still in search of his glasses that he needed to be able to see clearly. Some of the cadets who saw how hard Tr

CHAPTER TWENTY Julius glared at Trent while the bully was forced to take two steps backward, seeing that Julius was getting close to him with a stern look on his face. “You don’t know when to give up, do you?” Julius snarled at Trent while he forced himself not to throw a punch at his face. He could feel Vera urging him not to even though she refused to say a word. At that moment, every other person had backed off, including the female worker who slowly returned back to her position, and decided to watch from afar. No one was willing to interfere in the affair of the two of them as they waited eagerly to see what Trent’s reaction was going to be. “Why won't you mind your business, newbie? Can’t you just stay in your lane? Must you try to poke your nose into things that do not concern you?” “Oh, I assure you. I will always be here to stop you from bullying other cadets, Trent Prescott. I am your bane, your Waterloo.” “What?”“Yes, Trent. I can see that you are very stubborn. I u

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE Julius spent the next five minutes in solitude while he thought about the best way to handle the situation. Obviously, he didn’t have any evidence to prove that Trent pushed him down from the building, but he was definitely going to find a way to make him pay. “You have done well, Diego. Lord Draevyn made no mistake in choosing you as his successor.” Vera’s serene voice said from within his head, causing him to adjust himself on the seat while he sighed softly. “But you tried to stop me from helping him out.”“You were put in a situation that was meant to scrutinize you, and you have shown how noble you are, how kind-hearted you are. You are the right one for this great task, Diego.”Julius blinked severally, and then he lifted his brows to form a furrow.“Wait…” He huffed some air before he continued after looking around to be sure that no one was watching him. “Are you trying to say that that was a test?” “If that is what you choose to call it, then yes, it w

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Noah was speechless, but he was also glad at the same time. No one had ever chosen to stay with him for any reason, and he couldn’t stop smiling at Julius who drank from the can of milkshake and smacked his lips at once. “This tastes really nice, Noah. I love it!”“I am glad you like it.” Noah chuckled excitedly, and then he grabbed his sausage rolls, and took a bite that gave him a mouthful. He munched until he crushed the food entirely inside his mouth, and then he diluted it with his own milkshake. “Why did you transfer to this college? Were you in another city?” Noah broke the few seconds of silence that had lingered between them for almost a minute. He was very curious to know more about Julius who slowly dropped the can of milkshake on the table, and sighed softly. “Well, I was once in this city, but I went away for a while, and returned home recently. I decided to come here to finish my senior year.” “And you chose Hilton’s college?” Noah asked with a l
