Charter 21: Welcome Home Molly
“Welcome home.”Chay smiled as the car slowly climbed the winding road toward the top of the hills. His smile was genuine and warm. For the first few minutes, Molly didn’t say anything. She replied with a grin and turned to continue staring through the window. “Wooow,” she muttered to herself as she simply watched. The road was lined up with perfectly trimmed trees and elegant stone walls. While warm lights brightened the gardens on either side. Beyond them were also several enormous houses, each one more luxurious than the last. Some even had private pools.Others had sprawling gardens and glass balconies overlooking the coastline. The entire place looked like a private world on its own. Molly’s mouth slowly fell open. “Chay… do people actually live here?” she turned to him, her eyebrows lifted. A faint smile appeared on his face. “Yes.”She returned her gaze outside. “Rich people?”Chay chuckled. “Something like that.”The car continued forward until it reached the largest pro
Chapter 22: The Man who Knew.
On the other hand, John and Felix were still at Lumen village. John immediately dismissed everyone except Felix. He asked them to go back home and focus on the preparations of the masquerade ball happening tonight. It had to be perfect. John had one more place left to go. Only one. If anyone in Kent knew exactly what had happened at Lumen, and would give every information they needed, it was Gerald. So they both left for Gerald’s house. John Whitney drove very fast with both his hands locked tightly around the steering wheel. His frustration was building up with every second that his knuckles were almost bursting out of his skin because of how tight his grip was. He barely spoke during the drive. His mind was moving too quickly and calculating. Serena, of all people, was missing.Jordan was dead. Lumen village had been destroyed. And someone had carved the same four words into the gates. ‘GUESS WHO’S BACK.’Clearly, this unknown monster was the same person who sent the photo
Chapter 23: “Information is exactly what gets people killed.”
Gerald didn’t respond. “You know what happened at the village. I know you were there today.”Gerald remained silent. Felix moved forward. “We are not here to play games with you. Let’s go in and talk, you need to tell us everything you know.”Gerald’s annoyed gaze shifted toward him. “I know enough to know that I don’t want to know anything else or be a part of this.”John narrowed his eyes. “What does that even mean??”“It means you both need to leave.”Felix laughed bitterly. “You’re throwing us out?Gerald didn’t hold back. He answered immediately, “Yes.”“You must’ve lost your mind!” Felix shouted. “Unlike you two, I’m trying to keep mine. Leave my property now.” Gerald’s voice became colder. He didn’t care at all for their friendship. Felix’s face darkened even more. “Gearld, listen carefully, we’re about my wife, Serena, Lumen–““I know,” Gerald snapped. He gave a humorless smile. “You really don’t understand. Do you?Felix stepped forward angrily, “whoever you’re afraid of,

“I’ve never seen a family as aesthetically pleasing as them. They just always carry themselves with so much chicness and dignity, I love them ughh!”Claire heard most of these comments and more. Her heart swelled with joy and pride. Asher on the other hand just lifted his chin slightly and smiled at everyone. The family continued down the red carpet, making their way to the hall with their shoulders held up, and just as expected, flash after flash followed them. Inside the grand hall, the transformation was breathtaking. What caught the eye the most were the ceilings covered in hundreds of crystal lights. It was so beautiful. Golden chandeliers also hung above the guest as though they were literally floating, long tables covered in white linens surrounded the dance floor and towering floral arrangements were used to decorate the corners. Towards the center of the room, there was a particular champagne tower that most of the guests present had only seen through their screens. Wit

I suppose we're just lucky.”“Lucky?” The woman laughed. “Look at you two. You look like you walked straight out of a magazine. With this body of yours no one would believe you have a beautiful ten year old daughter.”Claire was about to respond when something caught the corner of her eye.Her smile immediately disappeared and her heart skipped violently. She quickly turned her head.A man was walking through the crowd several meters away. Claire couldn't see his face, just his back was facing h
Chapter 27: The Silent Witnesses
John’s eyes narrowed and he slowly turned toward her. “Why would you ask that?” John’s irritation was palpable. He was so annoyed by the question that he didn’t even wait for Mariam to answer before he strode off. “John?” She called him, but he ignored her. As John continued walking, his phone rang. When he glanced at his screen, it was one of his men. He answered the call immediately. “What?”“Sir, there’s something else…”“What else?” John impatiently requested. “The police have arrived at Lumen.”John stopped abruptly in his steps. “How many? What’s the situation like?”“More than expected boss. The situation is quite serious. It’s being treated like a mass-casualty crime scene. In fact they’ve begun investigations, the burial chambers were also found…”John’s grip tightened around the phone. “Okay. Keep your distance and don’t interfere.”John’s expression remained calm throughout the call despite the news. He slipped the phone into his pocket and immediately headed for one
Chapter 28: The Dead Man Arrives
Upstairs, the ballroom was alive with good music and laughter. It was already an hour into the evening. Everyone had enjoyed and applauded the lively dance performers, and orchestra performances. And when no performance was ongoing, Guests continued to socialize, mingle, wine and dine. Some discussed political matters together, some found joy in gossip and more. Either way, everyone was engaged and enjoying the evening. Everything was perfect… until the doors opened. By now every guest was naturally expected to have been inside the ballroom, but suddenly, the massive double doors at the entrance slowly swung inward, stealing the attention of almost everyone. A gust of cool air swept inside the ballroom. One guest turned, then another at the feel of the different cool air that brushed the tiny hairs on their skin. In that moment, the conversations closest to the entrance gradually died down. Even the orchestra faltered for half a second before continuing. Then, a young man ste

The host for tonight stepped onto the raised platform. “Ladies and Gentlemen!” he enthusiastically exclaimed. The room slowly became quiet, everyone turning their attention to the stage.“He smiled and continued. “Tonight, we are all here not only to celebrate the legacy of one of Kent’s most distinguished families, but also the beginning of a new chapter.”Applause erupted. John smiled. The host continued, “But before we proceed to the main event of the evening, I believe it is only fitting that we honor tradition.”Everyone smiled, some chuckled because they understood him clearly. It was time to dance, who doesn’t like a good dance? The musician began playing again and a slow, elegant melody filled the ballroom.“Ladies and gentlemen, may I invite you to the dance floor.”Everyone immediately began moving. The host’s words barely left his mouth when the atmosphere inside the hall changed. It was truly time for real business. The conversations died down, and every guest turned their attention toward the raised platform. The host handed over to the auctioneer immediately. The latter stood beneath a golden spotlight, he was holding a small wooden gavel in one hand while an assistant beside him prepared official documents. Behind them, there was also a massive screen displaying the familiar logo of Delliot Corporation. Everyone knew thirty-five percent of the shares were up and that single number had brought some of the wealthiest people in Kent into the same room. Including wealthiest people from other foreign countries. The auctioneer smiled and began, “Ladies and gentlemen, tonight, the Whitney family is offering thirty-five percent of the outstanding shares of Delloit Corporation.
