Sera Blackwood stood still as a statue, her leather cloak stiff and cold against the black granite parapet. The icy presence of the Revenant had transformed the rain into a brittle layer of ice on her shoulders. A heavy silence blanketed the soaring spires of the Western Overlook, isolating them from the world below."I knew you'd move quietly, Exodus," she said softly, her breath a white mist in the chill. "But I never thought you'd slip past Viktor’s wards without a trace."Exodus Thorne's voice seemed to echo through the stone beneath her feet. "The wards of Solis search for life, Sera," he explained. "They seek warmth, blood. To them, I'm nothing but a winter breeze."Sera turned slowly, her boots crunching the ice underfoot. Her weary eyes focused on the figure standing in the shadow of the dark tower’s archway.Exodus, unfazed by the sleet, stood there in his black scouting leathers. They absorbed the dim light around him, and dark veins glowed with an emerald ghost-fire—the stol

The garrison square felt stifling, saturated with the sharp scents of wet canvas, burning tallow, and cold iron. The once fierce mountain winds now lay still, leaving an eerie silence around the imposing marble towers of the military quarter, their surfaces cloaked in a chilling gray frost. Three legions of heavy infantry formed an unyielding line across the cobblestones, their silver crests obscured beneath wartime tarps. This wasn't just any army; it was a force prepared to crush an invisible foe.Exodus Thorne slipped unnoticed past the outer security perimeter, moving like a whisper through the winter air. The speed borrowed from the Nightshade twins allowed him to glide through the iron-clad ranks of paladin guards without a trace. Lyra and Sera lingered on the aqueduct bridge above, their emerald frost-runes watching over the military setup.Exodus aimed straight for the command center, the mind behind the muscle. He reached the command tent, a grand pavilion of dark crimson sail

The atmosphere felt tense and unmoving as General Viktor Stormborn asked his final question. In the military quarter, the cold gnawed at the skin, reminiscent of a harsh winter's night.Exodus Thorne stood firm, his broadsword poised with precision at his former mentor’s throat. The volcanic steel blade, as chilling as death itself, crackled against the blood that stained Viktor's chin. Emerald runes on the sword flared brightly, casting the command tent in ghostly green hues as the last remnants of the Grand Containment Matrix faded away.Viktor met the blade with a calm, knowing smile. His forty years of leading the Holy Empire of Solis had taught him the brutal truths of warfare. He understood the inevitable conclusion of a campaign."You have no response for the prophecy, student," Viktor whispered, his breath misting in the cold air."The prophecy is Marius Vex's worry, General," Exodus replied, his voice reverberating like thunder. "The earth holds the record. I do not kill you

Beneath the central garrison square stretched a vast, industrial cavern that felt more like the belly of a fiery beast than a typical underground space. This was the Geothermal Pumping Junction, located deep within the bedrock beneath the capital. The air here was stifling, vibrating with a deep mechanical pulse that seemed to shake soldiers' teeth. Enormous bronze pipelines, large enough for three men to walk side by side, wound across the ceiling like the scorched veins of some giant resting metal creature. These pipes did not transport water. Instead, they carried Solar-Ether, a dangerously potent, alchemically refined fluid used to power the Sun-Crest Spires above.Marius Vex understood the critical importance of this infrastructure, so he placed a specialized garrison to protect it instead of relying on surface defenses. Two divisions of the Holy Sun Order's Alchemical Inquisitors guarded the catwalks around the central reservoir vats. These warriors were no ordinary soldiers. Ra
