CHAPTER 49: A DAY AWAY FROM BLOODSHED The sound of the alarm on Adrian's phone rang multiple times before he finally opened his eyes. He had been awake even before the alarm started ringing, but his body was too lazy to turn it off. He was not a morning person. Adrian pushed the big wolfdog lying beside him away, pushing her until she reached the edge of the bed before lying back down. “It's my bed, yet you're occupying the whole damn thing,” Adrian muttered as he sighed and looked up at the ceiling. Today was Saturday. A free day for him, and he wasn't going to let it go to waste. He was thinking of going to Black Cross, but he quickly scrapped that thought. He had been killing vampires, training, and going out too much. At least for today and tomorrow, he planned to rest and clear his head before the new week came with its problems. Adrian got up and walked into the bathroom to wash his face. He allowed the water to trickle from his hair down to his chest and simply stared

Lirielle pulled out the empty chair beside Adrian and sat down, making herself comfortable as though she had been part of their group from the beginning. She placed her phone on the table, removed the lollipop from the corner of her mouth, and glanced at the three people staring at her. "What?" she asked innocently. "Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Kellan blinked before looking at Adrian. "Bro, who is this?" "Her name is Lirielle. She's a friend of mine," Adrian replied with a sigh. "A friend?" Kellan repeated, raising an eyebrow as he turned toward Lirielle and extended his hand. "I'm Kellan, Adrian's best friend and the most handsome man at this table." Lirielle glanced at his outstretched hand before shaking it. "Really? Then I feel sorry for the other men in your life," Lirielle replied as Emily burst out laughing while Kellan slowly withdrew his hand with a smile on his face. "Wow. I like her already," Emily said. "That's because you haven't spent enough ti

CHAPTER 53: A PROMISE AT THE GRAVESIDE“See you on Monday, Adrian. Make sure you don't suddenly develop a fever or an unknown sickness before then,” Kellan joked as Adrian closed the back door and leaned through the driver's window.“Watch your mouth, man. You might be prophesying for yourself,” Adrian replied simply as they shook hands.“I'm sorry for the intrusion today. I really didn't expect her to show up all of a sudden and join us,” Adrian said, referring to Lirielle.“It's alright, man. She was a fun person to be around. It defeated the purpose of us bonding, but I had fun with her around. Plus, she paid for our stuff, so a win is a win,” Kellan said with a smile.“Hope you're not angry, Emily?” Adrian asked as he turned to her.“I am,” she said plainly, feigning anger.“If you want me to forgive you, then make it up to me.”“Most definitely. I'll do that,” Adrian replied.“Goodnight, Adrian,” Emily said and waved at him as he waved back.“Make sure Kellan walks you home and d
