Chapter 3

"Emma!.. Emma!"

Conan was sprinting in a high speed. This was the first time that he ran like this— desperate and furious.

Mixed emotions filled his chest. He was mourning yet he's heart was in so much rage.

His body was radiating a dark aura that everyone he passed was slightly shaken. The dark circles around his eyes didn't do any help as it gave more details to his murderous look.

"Conan! I saw Emma being dragged by huge men! Hurry up before they can enter the City!"

Conan was breathing heavily while running in the middle of the dump site. This was the shortest route to the entrance as this is where all those big trucks threw all the garbages from the City to which for him, a source of their life— to prolong their misery and despair.

It didn't took long when he saw the group of men who abducted his sister. They were all wearing a dark t-shirt and pants. There were five of them.

"Emma!" he shouted upon seeing his sister who was struggling to get out of their grip.

"Brother Conan!"

Tears brim down her eyes and felt relieved when she saw her brother chasing for her. She was just crying in their house alone when these men came and take her without saying any word. They were like robots. She doesn't know these men and she was freaking out!

She was being carried like a bag of sack and despite her struggles and hard work to escape, the man carrying her didn't even budge. It was like his arms were made of iron.

"Help me! I want to go home!"

Conan picked a bottle and threw it to one of them.

"Let her go!" he shouted angrily but they didn't even pay attention to him as they kept on walking like nothing happened.

Conan fist his hands in anger and picked a medium size stone and aimed the head of the man who was carrying his sister.

His effort pays of when he heard a groan. "Ouch." The man slowly faced him, cupping his head that was hurt.

"The fuck is your problem, kid? Are you asking for your death?" he hissed sharply.

The group stopped walking and stared at the boy who was angrily looking at them.

"Brother!" Emma cried.

"Where are you taking her? Let go of my sister!"

The men looked at each other with his statement as if they heard a big news.

"So, that bastard has two kids, huh," one of them smirked.

All the courage that Conan had built when flying in jupiter when the tallest guy took out a gun inside his sling bag. His eyes widened when the man pointed it out on him.

Government authorities were the only one who were permitted to use guns and they use one specific weapon only.

But what he was seeing now was a different caliber of gun and the customized insignia on it was a proof that Conan was facing a members of underground organization.

His suspicion was confirmed upon seeing the trident tattoo on their left wrist.

His knees started to wobble yet he still managed to speak.

"W-What do you want from us? Why are you taking my sister? We don't have anything to do with you—"

His words were cut off when one of them kicked his stomach. Conan almost lost his consciousness with the impact. He cough blood while Emma was shouting for help to the onlookers who were afraid to take part of the scene.

"You made a big mistake on chasing us. You should've keep your mouth shut."

The man who was holding Emma cock his head. "Give him a good beating. Just make sure to not kill him."

The people who were watching were shocked when the four men started to pounce on the poor little boy. What in the world are they thinking on beating such a small kid??

One onlookers courageously intervene because he couldn't afford to watch the dreadful scene. But before he could even speak, a frightening gun shot was heard. That was enough for everyone to curl in fear and back down.

"Don't try to interfere if you don't want blood to shed. Mind your damn business, you fucking rats."

Everyone scurried back to their houses. People from the City see them as a trash, useless and no value. They treat them lowly than animals and they won't hesitate to kill them. That gun shot was enough for them to return and hide inside their home.

Conan was gasping for air. He was losing consciousness due to the punches and kick that he was getting. Emma on the other hand was crying furiously as she can't bear to see on what was happening to her brother.

"Stop it already! He's going to die! I'll come with you! Just leave him alone!"

Their leader signalled his men to stop. Conan on the verge of passing out opened his swollen eyes and grave in his mind the faces of the five men.

A tear escaped from his eyes. He already lost his mother. He doesn't want to lose his sister too.

But what can he do? Even though he was determined to get Emma back, what can he do against this men? His heart was breaking into pieces with the thought that he was gradually losing his loved ones— the only reason that he was holding on.

What should he do now without them? Can he still continue to live with just their memories?

"W-Why? Why are you doing this to us?" he asked between sobs.

He was crumpled on the ground, looking up to them with their head held high like a god.

The mohawk haired guy grabbed a fist of his hair and spit on his face.

"Your father, Garou Morata has a huge debt to us but that bastard was now in jail. And inorder to cover that lost, we'll get your sister in return. Heck, this isn't even enough to cover all his debt!"

Conan wasn't surprise anymore. He can't help but to blame his father for everything that was happening. And the worst part was that they were the one who were paying for his dirty doings.

His eyes shifted to Emma who was looking at him in sorrowful eyes.

He tried to negotiate. "J-Just take me. I can work for you. I'll do anything—"

The man pushed him away. "That won't do. We need the girl as per the boss instruction."

He bit his lips.

"Don't worry though because you'll take half of her burden."

Conan then felt a cold thing that was wrapped around his neck.

A collar.

"We need money to kept our business running. One of our men were coming here every end of the month to collect interest to the people who borrowed money to us. You'll be added to the list. You need to give us at least two thousand dollars and if you dare try to run, you know what will happen."

Upon saying that, he felt a bolt of electricity ran in every part of his body. His shaking body dropped on the ground. His blurry vision focused on the leaving figure of the man who was now entering the City's entrance.

Conan's eyes landed to his sister. He promised that he will take her back no matter what.
