Chapter 24
EUROPIA CITY

Berthold was sitting at the breakfast table with his family, enjoying a hearty meal of eggs and bacon. He has a beautiful wife and two boys.

He heard a knock at the door. He excused himself and went to answer it, finding Simone standing on his doorstep. It’s been three days since the funeral and she totally ghosted him.

"Good morning, Berthold," Simone said, a serious look on her face. "I'm sorry to intrude on your breakfast, but I need your help with the investigation. I really need to do this. Can you come with me now?"

Berthold raised an eyebrow. He hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Of course," he said. "I'll grab my coat and be right with you." He knew Simone all too well. She still had that childish determination in her eyes. She wasn’t going to let this case rest until she gets to the bottom of it and since she barely had any friends, he was the only one she could turn to.
