CHAPTER TEN

Robert laid on his bed, days had passed since he had been in the hotel. He had ordered a few new clothes, he hadn’t stepped his foot out of the hotel room, he was still planning on staying hidden, he did not want any of his in-laws to find him because they would drag him back.

He had been coming up with different ideals for the business, he had planned on buying a land and building a restaurant but he don’t know where to get a land that would in the particular place where the business would be booming and he also need a chef that would be in charge of the cooking.

He don’t know anybody that is really good at getting the ideal land and a good chef, he rubbed his temple with his eyes closed lost in thoughts.

Robert had written out parts of the food from the book, the ones he wants to be selling in his restaurant. He haven’t even found a name for the restaurant, a loud groan escaped his throat.

“Shit!” he cussed in frustration, he didn’t know how to go about it. He was really lost on what to do.

He glanced to his side to check the time on his digital clock, “07:00am” he muttered. He had been having his breakfast, lunch and dinner in his hotel room since he came. Today he decided to have a change.

He sighed and put on a black hoodie, a black trouser and a black slippers. He pulled the hoodie over his head, his hands was buried deep in his trouser pocket, he came out of his hotel room and headed to the cafeteria.

He walked with his head bent low, heading to the elevator, there were three people in the elevator, a man dressed in suit like he was headed for work, a woman was also dressed in a white blouse and a black pencil skirt, holding a black bag, while the last man was dressed in casual clothes and paying all his attention to his phone on his right hand that he didn’t even notice Robert walking inside.

The elevator door closed and started moving down, it dinged at the first floor and then open, a lady was standing in front and she hurriedly entered, glancing at her watch, it was like she was running late.

It finally reached the ground floor, Robert let out a sigh and stepped out of the elevator, heading for the cafeteria straight, walking with his head still bent low.

He stopped immediately as he caught glimpse of someone, she looked really familiar, she was moping the floor, her face was turned sideways, he stared at the lady closely, thinking she wasn’t the same person he was thinking she is.

He was about to turn away but the lady turned to look at him too, she squeezed her face, she couldn’t see the person who was staring at her weirdly, she frowned and was about to continue her work when the person started approaching her.

She at first was about to scream “kidnapper” but no one in his right sense would attempt such in a place where there are people like this, so she decided to kick against the idea and see what the person wants to talk about.

“Hazel?” she heard a voice call her name and she squeezed her face thinking of where she had heard that voice, it sounded so familiar.

Her face lit up with a smile, her eyes widened in surprise, “Robert?” she called out in a loud whisper and he nodded his head, pulling down his hoodie for a brief minute for her to see his face and then bringing it over his face again.

“Robert!” she called out again in surprise and dropped the mop, she gave him a big hug, pressing her body tightly on him, while Robert hands went just slightly above her waist and held her there.

“Damn! I didn’t think I would be able to see you again” she said, with the smile still on her face.

“Yeah, I didn’t think so too, is this your new pl—”

“Aren’t you supposed to be walking now” a man who looked to be in his fifties said to Hazel as he approached the both of them, he seemed to be the manager and he have a pot belly.

“I am sorry sir, I just saw a friend of mine that I thought I wouldn’t see again and was quite surprised” she said with a slight bow, she was shaking, quietly praying that the man would not fire her because he wore an angry expression on his face.

Robert didn’t want what happened the last time to happen again, she got fired by his in-laws because of him, he didn’t want her to get fired in her new work because of him again, she might start seeing him as a bad luck to her so he decided to interfere.

“I am sorry about that sir, I was the one that called her and distracted her from her work” Robert said, the man looked at him, sizing him from his head to his toe.

“And who is this?" He asked Hazel, pointing to Robert.

When Robert made enquiry about the rooms, he was told that the hotel rooms have different levels, depending on the one you can afford, the top floor is the most expensive and people that pay for a room there were considered as VVIPs and were treated as such, then the room that followed next was the fifth floor and it is the second most expensive rooms, people that pay for such rooms were taken as VIPs, while the fourth floor rooms is just a little below the VIPs room when it comes to price and the people that paid for such rooms were taken as important people.

The third floor rooms was afforded by people who are just slightly above the average working person, while the second floor rooms was afforded by people of working class.

Robert was occupying a room in the fourth floor so he isn't supposed to be treated as trash again.

"I am occupying room 426" he said with a frown on his face, though the manager could not see the expression on his face clearly due to the hoodie that was over his head. The first number (4) was for the number of the floor while the rest was the number of the room.

The manger adjusted, "sorry for the rude treatment, you can carry on sir" the man apologized with a smile, bowed slightly before walking out.

Robert turned and saw the surprised look on Hazel who was wondering who he really was.

"Which time do you close?" Robert asked, drawing her out of her thoughts.

"Oh! My shift would be over by 3pm" she replied.

"Once your shift is over, come and look for me in my room, I have something important to discuss with you. Continue with your work" he said with a smile and left her to continue with her work, while he headed to the cafeteria to eat his breakfast.

Hazel looked at him as he disappeared into the cafeteria with her mouth opened in shock, something was quite different about this new Robert, he was quite bold compared to the one she knew at her former workplace.

She continued with her work, praying for 3pm to reach quickly because she have tons of question for him.

Robert sat with a smile, now that he thinks of it, Hazel is also a good cook, she might agree to the business proposal he have for her.

The smile faded almost immediately, he didn't really know much of Hazel.

"Can I trust her?" He asked himself as he sipped the coffee he had ordered for.

There is no way he can know until he actually tries her, she was still happy to see him, even though he had been the one that caused her to be fired by his in-laws.

Robert scoffed, she was really a funny person, there was no harm in trying. She might even know where he can get the best land for his business.

"Can I trust her?" He asked himself once again, his elbow was placed on the table while his chin rested on the back of his hands.
