10. Danny's POV

“I’ll catch you guys later!”, he said standing up and picking his plate up. He was halfway out of the cafeteria when he noticed that Lennon was walking behind him. He rolled his eyes, that was the thing with Lennon, he would grumble and complain but would always be beside him at the end, that was why he loved the guy to pieces.

“ They called your father”, Lennon muttered.

Danny winced, that was very bad. He had expected the guy to be a big boy and handle his shit by himself, not involve his parents. Well, the guy was not, so much for a wide mouth.

“ you don’t have to be there, you know…” Danny told Lennon.

One thing about his father was that the man had the tendency to transfer his aggression to just everyone in the room, and he did not want his father to scold Lennon for allowing the fight to happen like Lennon was his overseer.

Lennon hummed in response but still continued trailing behind him.

He sighed.

They walked to the principal’s office,  and he almost didn’t believe his eyes when he saw the douchebag standing beside a man on suit.

Danny glanced at the man beside the guy, wondering who he was. He looked old enough to be the guy’s father, but he was too polished to have begotten someone as disgusting as this guy.

“ Is this the boy Isaac?” , the man asked.

Oh!, His name was Isaac, he had cared less about his name, he didn’t need to know his name to show him the lesson of his life.

“ Yes dad…”, Isaac replied nursing his dislocated arm.

That was even more surprising, he looked nothing like his father. The both of them looked like they came out from different ponds of pea.

Lennon bumped his shoulders, he didn’t know why, so he turned to look at the guy, mouthing “ what?” to him.

Trust Lennon to be the model poster boy, always polite in front of an elder but rude to his age mates. Danny rolled his eyes when he saw Lennon bow slightly to greet the man.

“ hello sir… we are sorry for what happened…it wasn’t our intention for it to go this far. Just a normal high school brawl”, Lennon explained.

Danny didn’t fail to note the apology in his statement. He scoffed, “ well, I’m not sorry…”, he muttered making sure the man heard him.

“ I think your boyfriend disagrees” , Isaac’s father said, looking at him.

His eyes widened and he gasped, that was very bad of the man. He not only insinuated that Lennon was his boyfriend, he also assumed that he was gay because of his looks.

Danny moved Lennon out of the way and faced the man heads on, “ that’s very bold of you to say sir, I see that the rotten apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree”, he said. He could feel Lennon touching his arm and holding him back, but that didn’t stop him.

If this man could spit rubbish from his mouth, them he was sure to return it to the man.

“ What did just say…”, the man asked, stepping forward.

The man was slightly taller than him, so he had to lift his head up a bit to look into the man’s eyes. At sixteen, he was slightly taller than his mates, maybe because he had long thin legs.

“ exactly what you heard sir…”, he replied.

The man laughed, turned to look at his son, “ …and you say this kid is in your class?”, he asked Isaac who nodded, moving away a bit from his father, that was a wise decision because the man looked like he would beat his son up any minute from now.

“ I can’t wait to see your father boy…”, the man said walking away, into the principal’s office, with Isaac trailing behind him.

Danny sighed, yeah, he can’t wait for his father to get here too. Nobody gave him the right to assume things about others

He should be ashamed of his son getting beaten by the boy with the pretty face rather he was here throwing assumptions.

It didn’t take long for his father to show up. He looked like he was just coming out of a meeting, because he was dressed in his three piece black designers suit and shiny shoe. Danny would have smiled under another circumstance but right now, his father looked pissed at being summoned in school.

“ Dad…”, Lennon was the one who hugged his father first.

“ hey babe…”, his father hugged him back.

“ why am I being called to your school, I thought we’ve passed this level Danny?”, his father muttered.

Danny winced at his father’s tone, “ sorry daddy, but anything you see or hear, know that I was only defending myself, I didn’t start it first…and this time, it wasn’t my big mouth too…”, he explained.

His father sighed, looking at Lennon who was smiling sheepishly, “ …and you couldn’t have stopped him…”, he asked Lennon.

“ came late…”, Lennon muttered.

His father sighed, walking forward to the office. He met the secretary and informed her that he was Danny’s father and she led the way to the principal’s office.

This was the first time he was entering the principal’s office since he started high school. Usually his issues gets resolved in the staff room or his homeroom teacher’s desk, apparently, Isaac father was influential.

“ hello Mr. Dame…”, the principal greeted, shaking his hand.

His father smiled, “ that’s insulting ma’am, call me Chase, you taught me after all…” he said taking a sit beside Isaac’s father. Danny and Lennon stood behind his seat.

The principal laughed, “ I can’t be calling you Chase every time I see you, this here is work so bear with me…”, she said. His father nodded relaxing on his seat.

“ this is Mr. Huber, Isaac’s father. Mr. Huber, this is Mr. Dame, Danny’s dad….”, she introduced the two men in the room.

His father inclined his head slightly to acknowledge Isaac’s father, but the man was not even returning the greeting.

“ it’s Barrister Huber, principal Hughes…”, Isaac’s father corrected.

Danny scoffed, earning a glare from his father, that shut him up totally.

“ I’m sorry Barrister,” the principal apologized.

“ the reason you two were both called was because of the conduct of both of your boys. Danny and Isaac”, the principal started, stopping to look at Lennon, well, she might be wondering what Lennon was doing in her office right now. It was funny and made him smirk.

The thing was, he and Lennon came as a pair. No matter how much they fought or argued, it was just that, a fight, an argument that didn’t even go as close as to break the bond they both have with each other.

At a point while growing up, they started to refer to themselves as each other’s twin, he could remember a phase they had where they didn’t want to be separated and would always end up having sleep overs at each other’s house, so the principal had better look away, Lennon wasn’t going anywhere.

“ Well, news reaching me said that they both fought in the hallway this afternoon and that is a violation of the school’s rules of conduct. No only that, they resorted to pulling each other’s hair and breaking arms…”, the principal continued.

Danny sighed quietly, the principal also didn’t know the difference between breaking an arm and dislocating an arm. He kept his mouth shut, the only reason why he would talk here was if spoken to or if Isaac opened his big mouth to talk.

“ right now, I’ve called a meeting and the school board will sit to decide what to do with the both of them. In the meantime, they would both be suspended indefinitely till we get a ruling…”, she told the two fathers sitting in front of her table.

Danny frowned, looking at Lennon before looking away. He had gone through many detentions and suspensions in middle school, he was maintaining a clean slate in high school before this douchebag decided to test him.

“ I don’t think my son should be suspended when he is not the one with a broken arm madam Hughes…”, Isaac’s father muttered.

“ it’s not broken Mr. Huber, it’s dislocated and if I’m not mistaken, he must have done something to my son that warranted Danny to dislocate his arm…”, his father chipped in.

Danny nodded, feeling proud of his father for knowing what even so called intellectuals didn’t know.

“ I don’t think words spoken should lead to ' a dislocated arm' in your words… madam, please reconsider your decision. My son’s education is Paramount and as such must not be joked with.” Isaac’s father said.

“ maybe you need to ask the boy what he did rather than defend him…”, his father said.

“ I don’t see you asking your son what he did…”, Mr. Huber fired.

His father laughed, “ that’s because I know he did something wrong and I’m not defending him for dislocating your son’s arm which I know he is capable of doing only when he is defending himself…”, his father retorted.

“ Okay gentlemen, I think it’s enough”, principal Hughes said, stopping both men.

Danny bit his inner cheeks to stop himself from laughing out loud right now. After this, he was going to buy the new designer’s watch for his father, even if it cost all his savings.
