CHAPTER 7

Ryan got to the hospital and went to Mrs Williams ward.

She was being attended to by the nurse.

When the nurse was done with her work she left them, Ryan opened the lunch bag and brought out the food. Mrs Williams signaled him to stop.

“ Johnson I haven't seen any of my children in a while, where have they been and why have they not been here yet? ” Mrs Williams inquired.

Ryan heaved a heavy sigh

“ ma'am they are all fine and they are at home, they were when we were bringing you here yesterday and they were asleep when I was coming here. They don't know yet that you are admitted here, they went out in Adriana's new… ” Ryan, who realized he was going too far, stopped talking.

Mrs Williams raised an eyebrow “new what?!!!” Mrs Williams asked

Ryan knew he had already been heard so he had no option than to say the truth

“ Well Adriana has a new car, the Lamborghini Aventador, she brought it home yesterday and her sisters joined her out. ”

Mrs Williams frowned “New car? Who bought her a new car? How did she get the car, or have they shared their father's property already” Mrs Williams asked

“ I don't know much about that but what I knew from their conversation was that the car was bought for her by somebody and that person happens to be a man. I know they are expecting a visitor tomorrow, I don't really know who the person is but… .” Ryan couldn't complete his sentence when a call came in, he brought out the phone to pick cj the call but it had already ended. He looked at the caller and told Mrs Williams that it was Alicia.

The call came in again but this time it was from Adriana

He quickly answered it and spoke

“ Hello….. I'm sorry… it was very urgent… .its your mom… .. she has been admitted at St. Morris hospital since yesterday… . She's fine now… .I'm sorry I didn't do anything…..ok” Ryan spoke to the caller and cut the call after he was done.

“ Well that was Adriana, she saw my missed calls yesterday and called back, she is coming over with Geraldine and Alicia ”

Ryan said after the call.

The woman nodded.

Alicia's first call was not answered, she got angry“who does he think he is to ignore my calls?!, I'm not calling him again with my phone you girls can call him.”

Alicia blustered angrily.

Adriana called with her phone and Ryan answered

“Hello Ryan… . I saw your missed calls, why would you give me so many missed calls ….. urgent?What's urgent?..... she has gone out what do you want from her and where are you?..... What!!, what happened to her, what did you do to her… if anything happens to my mother I won't forgive you… .I'm coming over with Alicia and Geraldine right away”.

Adriana dropped the phone and sat on the sofa.

“ What happened? ”

Alicia asked inquisitively.

“ It's mom, she was not in town , she was in the hospital, Ryan called to inform us that they were in the hospital ”

Adriana said sadly.

“What?!! ” The two sisters exclaimed

“ I'm going over to St Morris hospital right away” Adriana said, picked her car keys and rushed out.

The two sisters quickly followed her out

Alicia opened the gate while Adriana drove the car out in reverse.

Her two sisters joined her and she sped off the road leading to the hospital.

“ Who did you say they were expecting tomorrow? ” the woman asked Ryan again

“ I don't know but I guess it must be the lawyer, I overheard that from their conversation but I couldn't listen too far before I came to your place. ” Ryan said trying to end that conversation

The woman nodded again and this time her face turned moody

“ Johnson, why did you save me? You know I don't like you but why did you save me? ” the woman asked Ryan tearfully.

Ryan did not say anything, he just shook her head and looked away.

In about 20 minutes, the room was filled with silence that one could hear even the sound of a pin drop

Ryan did not know the answer he was going to give to the woman.

The woman on the other hand looked teary and regretful.

“ Johnson, I appreciate all the help you've given me and I will surely repay you. Thank you very much for your kindness. ”

The woman said apologetically.

Ryan kept nodding

“ Johnson, you have grown lean and your face looks scary, what is the matter with you?”.

The woman asked after some minutes of silence.

“ Nothing ma'am”, Ryan said and looked away.

“ I'm sorry for all the wrong things I've done to you and the pains I put you through. Kindly forgive me please. '' the woman said again and Ryan did not respond.

Just then they heard footsteps rushing towards the ward, Ryan figured them out to be that of the Williams sisters. Soon, a knock cane on the door and a nurse entered, followed by Adriana, Alicia and Geraldine in that order.

Adriana quickly went to her mother and hugged her while Alicia and Geraldine stood beside her.

“ What happened to you mom, what happened ” Adriana asked almost crying

“ I had a headache and fell down. There was no one to help,you girls haven't been there in a week. It was Johnson who came to save me and he brought me here.

The woman answered

Alicia gave Ryan a mean stare .

Ryan looked away and he got out of the room to avoid any unnecessary comments. Minutes after he sat down, Alicia came out to talk to her.

“ Well done Mr good Samaritan, now I think you should go back to the house and clean the whole place. Everywhere is a mess. Clean the whole place and make no mistakes, remember we have an important person visiting us tomorrow.

Forget about my mom now, we will take it from here”

Ryan just stared at her for a while and left
