Chapter 2

Damien's body shook with shock as he spotted his wife on their boss. She was not just fitted on him but they were having an intimate moment in the office with the door half open.

The flower and the letter he had on him fell to the floor. Tears rolled down his eyes. It was weak of him to cry, he knew that. His ego kept telling him not to shed tears but his heart felt like it was being squeezed.

That was his wife in their having sex with another man. Intimate actions like that were meant for husband and wife, for both of them.

For six months, they had not gotten intimate and they had no children either. Did all this start six months ago before Damien found out?

He held his chest as he bent over and picked up the flower and the letter. One last glance, he walked away from their wiping off the tears with his handkerchief.

While walking out of there, not once did he look back. His focus was in front of him and nothing more. His in-laws had urged him for so long to divorce her and give her space to grow that he was holding her back from flying.

He did not want that. He cherished Rebecca. He made promises. Damien told her he would find a way to make more money to give her a comfortable life but it went under deaf ears.

Rebecca did not listen. She refused to wait. His wife cheated on him. Damien had thought they could work it out. Rebecca loved roses and the letter was a confession of his love and the care he had for her.

He promised to take care of her but all that was shattered after he saw that. Angrily, he tossed the items in the trash can and barged out of the company.

A few of his colleagues spotted him but they refused to say anything to him seeing the change of mood. Damien was ready. He was ready to sign the papers to end the marriage.

There was no need to hold onto it any more. It would only break him. She would live her life but he, did he have a life left to live after this?

Outside the company building, he took a last glance at the building and began walking away taking out his phone. He dialled the one number he had been able to get in contact with after he was disowned.

On the third ring, the person picked up and he placed the phone on his ears pressing his nose. “Good morning, uncle" he greeted

“Hey, Damien. Are you alright? You sound off" his uncle said

It seemed he sounded the way he felt but he tried to push it off. Damien spoke, “I'm good. I just need you to do something for me," he said

“What?"

“Pull out from R****h Align," he said, angry as he pronounced the name out loud

“You were the one that asked me to put in funds in the company in the first place"

Damien nodded. Yes, he did but it was for the sole purpose of the company to grow so that Rebecca would not lose her job. Damien knew he did not have much knowledge of fashion design but Rebecca did.

He was thirty and had not much skill that did not relate to oil and gas and all the businesses the Alfredo company handles. If he wanted to get a job now, it meant he had to apply in the oil and gas sector.

That would fail because the Alfredo family handled most of it. Damien's father had a close relationship with the president. If by chance they get wind that he is trying to get a job, they would spread the memo for him to be rejected.

Well, he did try thrice in a company but they rejected him. They were close friends to his father. So he concluded, that it was only beneficial if the R****h Align stayed and helped them put food on the table.

Now that help has come to bite him at the back.

“I want you to pull out now," Damien said

“Issues with your wife?"

“Yes"

His uncle sighed. “Fine," he said and it was followed by a beep

He looked over his shoulder at the company he had worked in for three years now without a single promotion because he lacked the skills to be.

Damien was the poorest in the company and least paid because he did not do much. Angry, he matched home and rushed up the stairs and into the apartment they lived in.

He picked up the file he had dumped earlier followed by the pen as he sat on the bed, opening it up. Deep in his heart, he did not want to sign the papers but he knew, he could not fight this anymore.

With every page, he signed with increased aggression. Once he was done, he stood up threw the file and pen on the bed then pulled out his phone.

Still upset and with a taint of hope that she would feel bad, he called her. On the first try, she did not pick up. On the third one, after a few rings, she picked up.

“What is it? You are disturbing me" she said

“I-"

“Speak quickly!" she yelled

His wife was gone and it hurt to find out this way. In a way, he wanted to apologize now but he knew she was far gone so instead,

he told her what she asked for.

He told her what she wanted to hear. “I've signed the papers. Come and get it"
