Seeing the adoration on Lily’s face, Frank Lane felt his heart tremble.

He leaned forward and ate the bite of egg from Lily’s spoon, but bitterness filled his chest as he swallowed.

After setting Lily down beside Sophie White, Frank said, “I’m going to check the storage room and see if there’s anything useful. You and Lily eat first.”

With that, he quickly left.

Sophie looked at the plate, where more than half of the egg pancake still remained.

Something stirred faintly inside her heart.

But after so many years of disappointment, she no longer dared to hope for even the smallest miracle.

She looked at Lily and thought that perhaps this was still a good thing.

Even if she left, at least Frank might be able to take care of their daughter.

At that moment, Frank was rummaging through the storage room, his face filled with urgency.

After testing the Healing Spring on the wild greens earlier, he now fully understood its use.

It could accelerate the growth of crops.

It could also treat illness.

Frank had originally been wondering how he could give Sophie and Lily a better life after being reborn.

Now, he had an answer.

From the storage room, he found several half-empty packets of vegetable seeds. Holding them in his hands, he felt a surge of emotion.

The Lane family had originally owned two acres of farmland.

But after Frank became disabled and fell into despair, Sophie had been left weakened after childbirth, and Frank’s mother had become seriously ill and bedridden.

No one in the family had been able to farm properly.

Sophie had bought some seeds, but she could only plant a little in the yard when she had spare time.

Now that it was winter, even these few packets of seeds were a rare find.

Frank immediately soaked the seeds in water from the Healing Spring for a while, then planted them inside the Pocket Dimension.

Mist from the Healing Spring filled the entire space.

Even taking a single breath made his body feel lighter and more relaxed.

After returning to the real world, Frank went back to his shabby bedroom.

He and Sophie had slept separately for a long time. His room was a complete mess.

Frank fetched clean water from the yard and began slowly cleaning everything.

In his previous life, he had spent too many years living in a drunken haze. Now, even after working through the night, he did not feel tired at all.

By the time the sky began to turn pale, Frank had cleaned not only his room but the entire courtyard.

Before Frank’s accident, the Lane family had been doing fairly well. They had built a two-story country house, and besides the cement yard, there was even a small garden.

It had been neglected for years.

But after a night of cleaning, the place finally looked somewhat like a home again.

Once he finished, Frank entered the Pocket Dimension.

The scene before him made his eyes light up.

The Herb Garden was now lush and green. The vegetables he had planted the night before had already taken root, sprouted, and matured overnight.

Frank was beyond excited.

He quickly picked a leaf and placed it in his mouth.

There were no pesticides, no pests, and the plants had been nourished by the Healing Spring. The ordinary spinach had become unbelievably delicious.

The bright green leaf was crisp and sweet. Even raw, it had no bitterness at all.

Frank immediately harvested all the spinach and placed it into burlap sacks.

With spinach in hand, breakfast was no longer a problem.

After preparing breakfast, Frank knocked on Sophie’s door.

Sophie had spent years rising before dawn, so she was already awake.

“I’m going out to look for work,” Frank said. “Please watch Lily. I’ve made breakfast too.”

He smiled gently.

“If I earn money today, I’ll buy some food on my way back tonight.”

Sophie showed no extra emotion on her face.

She merely nodded faintly.

Seeing this, Frank did not say more.

After years of being a worthless husband, he did not expect one night of change to move Sophie’s heart.

There were still fifteen days left.

Frank believed he could change her mind.

Before the sky was fully bright, Frank walked toward the county town.

After drinking a cup of Healing Spring water the night before, his leg had already improved quite a bit.

He still appeared lame when he walked, but the pain had lessened significantly.

At his current speed, he could reach the county town in less than two hours.

...

By the time daylight fully broke, Frank was sitting in a corner of the market with two large burlap sacks beside him.

In the winter vegetable market, there was hardly a trace of green to be seen.

Frank felt more confident.

He spread an old bedsheet on the ground and placed all the spinach on top.

Each bundle weighed roughly one pound, forming a lush, fresh bunch.

He set up a small sign.

Fresh Spinach. Three dollars per bundle.

The morning market was crowded, and Frank’s extremely fresh spinach immediately attracted plenty of attention.

“Oh my, this spinach is really fresh!”

“It’s already winter. I haven’t seen fresh greens like this in ages!”

“Young man, how much are you selling them for?”

Hearing the voices of the older men and women around him, Frank replied, “Three dollars a bundle. Each bundle is only heavier than one pound, never lighter.”

The moment he said this, the crowd burst into loud laughter.

“Young man, are you joking?”

“Pork is only five dollars a pound. How can a bundle of vegetables cost three?”

“You’re not trying to fool us old folks, are you?”

Frank smiled helplessly and explained, “Sir, take a look at these greens. You can tell they were just picked.”

“I promise this spinach tastes better than ordinary spinach.”

Even then, several older customers were still hesitant.

Seeing this, Frank untied one bundle and said, “Look at these leaves. They’re full of moisture. You can even eat them raw.”

“Why don’t you try a piece?”

As soon as he said this, the older men and women could no longer hold back.

One after another, they pinched off small pieces of spinach from Frank’s hand and tasted them.

“This really can be eaten raw?”

“How can it be this fresh without pesticides?”

“Three dollars is three dollars, then. It’s worth it!”

“Young man, give me two bundles!”

“I’ll take one bundle to try!”

Frank smiled from ear to ear as he collected the money.

But soon, he realized an awkward problem.

He had not brought any plastic bags.

Without bags, how was he supposed to pack the vegetables for the customers?

Before Frank could worry about it, the older customers laughed and waved him off.

“Young man, don’t worry. We all brought our own bags.”

“Those flimsy plastic bags can’t hold much anyway.”

As they spoke, they pulled cloth bags from their pockets.

With one hand, they paid Frank. With the other, they took the spinach from him and placed it into their bags.

None of them worried about being shorted on weight.

After years of buying vegetables, they could tell at a glance that each bundle was more than one pound.

The customers left happily, and Frank earned a satisfying amount.

Before noon, all his spinach was sold out.

After counting the money, Frank found that he had made more than three hundred dollars.

He was very pleased.

He strolled slowly through the street, bought a sack of rice, and when no one was watching, placed it into the Pocket Dimension.

In addition, he bought plastic bags, twine, burlap sacks, and seeds for various crops.

For the time being, Frank planned to earn money by selling fresh vegetables. These supplies were all necessary.

Since this was not the planting season, the seeds were leftover stock from the previous year and were not expensive.

Altogether, Frank spent a little over one hundred dollars.

Aside from the essentials, he also bought several balls of soft yarn.

Frank touched the soft yarn inside the bag, and a faint smile appeared on his face.
