I don't know much about business but I was smart to know which company owns the R&B contract.

As it rained cat and dog, I can't help but think of how I was going to enter the most guarded company in the city.

I curled up in my wet damp coat as I tried to battle to best rain.

It almost looked like the heaven felt I was useless afterall.

I had never seen so humiliated In my entire life. I had given. everything to a family that never loved me.

A wife who thinks I was nothing but a loafer.

As I walked into the rain to find shelter I saw a man wandering aimless in the middle of the road.

A flash headlight shown towards him and I dashed forwards immediately.

Crash!

" Call the ambulance!"

" Call 911."

That was the last thing I heard before I passed out.

******************************************************************

[ PASSED OUT FOR THREE WEEKS ]

I groaned in pains the moment I woke up. The beeping sound of the machine right behind me added to my dull ache.

I held my head like it was going to burst from the pain but then my gaze swept real quick round the room.

" Where am I?" I let out slowly

The room was serene. Beautiful and were arranged.

The curtain added to the gentle dull view and the furnitures were neatly arranged.

Memories of what happend last flooded my head.

I was trying to say a man and the next sound I heard was me taking the hit.

Was I dead?

I was trying to figure it out when the door opened. A young woman with a tray walked in.

Crash!

" He is awake! The man is awake!" she shouted and dashed out of the room.

My gaze went to the crashed tray and the broke cup. I felt a numb thrust at the back of my throat and I immediately wanted some water.

Then, I tried to get off the bed but I couldn't.

My heat raised.

" Am I crippled?" I asked almost with tears tugging at the back of my eyes.

The door opened and a man in white rob walked in.

" Ah! Our young saviour." he said smiling. " We thought you were.."

I snapped my finger immediately.

It was a charisma I didn't know I was having. The door stopped like a puppet being controlled by a puppeteer.

" How long have I been out for?" I asked staring at him

" Three Weeks." he replied

I ran my hand over my hair. It was almost like I was hearing the impossible.

" No way. I was suppose to get the R&B contract. That was my ticket to saving my marriage." I said with tears.

The doctor looked at me perplexed. " Everything is going to be alright, Mr. All I need to do now is check your vitals and make sure you don't have..."

"Don't have what? Tell me doctor, why can't I walk? I can't feel my legs." I said with tears

My heart beat fast and my body shook greatly.

I can't believe I just became another liability right after my family's wife cast me out.

" You need to calm down. We can manage this situation. You took a great blow the moment you jumped into the road to save the old man."

At that moment, tears rolled down my face.

Regret.

Yes, maybe.

I should have turned a blind eyes. Pretended like I never saw him in the middle of the road.

I was fighting my own demon and maybe he was too. I should have mind my business.

[ High pitch Sound ]

The doctor kept talking and talking but then, I was lost in my own thoughts.

Were do I begin from?

Was she going to accept me back now that I was crippled?

What do I tell them?

That I have been gone for three weeks only to come back home a crippled.

I shake my head slightly. This was slowly the end.

" Mr Daniel."

The doctors loud voice and his hands snapped in the air brought me back.

" Can I see the man I had sacrificed all for? Where is he?" I asked

" I am sorry, Mr Daniel but the man couldn't make it. His heart gave out right there in the middle of the road." the doctor said

slowly

I laughed.

This has to be some cruel joke. I gave my all again and yet the man I chose to give it for die.

" So what is going to happen to me?" I asked with my lips curved in anger.

" Well, a good Samaritan saw what happend and decided to help. She made sure to pay the bills and asked that you are to be allowed to go home once you are awake but rest assured you don't need to worry about the bills. She paid it all." the doctor said assuringly

" Do you think I care about that? Do you think I care who the fuck paid the bills? I was supposed too.."

I clenched the bedsheet I laid on. Tears rolling down my eyes.

The doctor stared at me and for a moment I could feel his pity. I don't know if crying makes aan weak but this was not something I had control over.

" I was supposed to get the contract to save my marriage. I.." I gulped again

"Linda must have waited. How do I face her? What do I tell her? That I failed again? That I came back a pathetic loser again? How am I supposed to live when I am being thrown out of the house?"

The doctor kept silent. His gaze filled with unspoken words.

" I am sorry you have to go through all of this, Mr Daniels. But this is out of my hands there is nothing I can do. You will be wheeled out of here in less than an hour. Please get ready to go back home."

" Home?" I said softly feeling the weight of my word.

I knew there was nothing to go back to.

I was lost yet again.

  • JANET SCARED

Janet and I froze where we stood, our eyes fixed on the aquarium. The little golden fish darted wildly through the water as if nothing had happened. It swam in frantic circles, bumping into the glass before suddenly going still near the bottom. Its tiny body twitched once... then it slowly rose again and glided upward.Alive.Truly alive.Janet turned to me so sharply the chair behind her nearly tipped over."What the hell are you?" she whispered.I wish I had an answer. My palm still bled from the cut. Blood dripped onto the floor in soft red taps. Yet I barely felt the pain anymore. The wound was already closing. Flesh knitting itself together before our eyes.Janet stumbled backward."No..." she muttered. "No, no, no..."She grabbed my wrist and raised my hand to the light. The cut that had been deep enough to expose skin beneath was now nothing more than a thin pink line. Her fingers trembled."You heal too?""I don't know.""You brought me back. "You brought a fish back. And now

  • A HEALING BLOOD

Things haven't been the same ever since I woke up back to life. I could tell Janet was going to figure it out anytime soon, but then, I have to understand what I am. The only way to do that was the book. I have to get it back from Dac. I had to find it, but I didn't risk letting him know I was alive. I knew that by now. Janet, on the other hand, was freaking out. She walked into my room, her body inclining against the door. "What is your plan, Dan? We can stay in hiding. "This is now two weeks of silence and doing nothing," she said with brows arched. I raised my head slowly and stared at her. "You need to understand that Dac is after me. I don't think I would be safe anymore than I am right now, Janet. I need to figure out what I really am." Janet smiled, her feet echoing as she walked closer towards me. "You are not just anyone, Dan. You are from a powerful bloodline, and you need to stop treating yourself like an imposter. Dac and Almond should be scared of you and not the o

Penelope winced slightly but didn’t pull away. • DINNER TROUBLE

Dac stared at Gerald and smirked, " Are you enjoying your meal?" he asked raising his eyes slightly just in time to see his facial expression. " Yes. I must say you have a lovey taste when it comes down to selecting the best chefs." Dac laughed trying to brighten the tensed mood. " What can I say? We are known for the very best. The Donald's are not only rich but we have powers to make things disappear real fast." Gerald dropped his cutlery. " What are you trying to say?" He grabbed a white handkerchief and cleaned his mouth. Linda's face went pale and she could barely breath. " Did you have someone snoop around me?" Dac asked, his gaze hardened. " And why would you think I did that? You are my son-in-law. Why do I have to go hiring some man to snoop around?" Gerald said with anger Dac smiled. " It was just an hunch. I must have killed the wrong man then. I a sorry to have disturbed you." he said immediately. Gerald looked at Penelope and back at Linda. He slowly

I don't know anything about this." Linda said in tears. " Shhh...shh.." Dac walked back to her side, his hand slowly caressing her hair. " Of course you don't. I think it is high time we call a small family gathering. Don't you think?" Dac asked Linda only nodded. " Good. Send a message to your father telling him I would love to host him." Linda stared at Dac and was not sure if he meant now or later. " Now!" Dac barked. Linda immediately grabbed her phone and texted her father to invite him for a dinner with Dac. Dac grabbed the white handkerchief off the table and wiped his hands. His gaze darted towards the man he has just killed and back at the owner of the lounge. " You are going to get rid of the body and make sure no one knows what happend here. Is that clear?" he said at the yo

  • TRADE BY BARTER

As Linda digested the exquisite food in front of her, she couldn't quite understand what was going on. Unlike the other men she had been with, they were easy to read, study, and understand, but the man seated in front of her was unreasonable. His gaze was too sharp, and it feels like he was always in check of whatever it was he was doing. "Is the food not up to your taste?" he asked, his gaze lifted from the golden plate he was eating fromLinda gulped down the food in her throat and forced a smile. "It is chewy and lovely," she complimented with a smile. "Good. Because I need you to answer a few questions," Dac said afterwards. Linda's heart raced the moment he said those words. She knew there was a catch. "What questions?" she asked, slightly dropping her fork. Dac stopped eating for a second. His gaze hardened for a bit, but it disappeared like the wind with a calm smile. "Eat." he commanded Linda's face went pale. She had never been under duress with any of her men befor
