Alonso was lost in the little drama portrayed in his presence as thoughts and questions he wished to ask flooded his mind, but he didn’t have the balls to ask Perry any questions, as she fumed in anger.
“Do not mind a word he said, he’s just being mean and controlling as he always does” Perry said trying to cover up what just happened but her emotions got the best. She found the closest sit and sat as she sobbed quietly.
Witnessing the whole event, Alonso felt some kind of pity for Perry and wanted to console her.
“I know I am not a part of your family yet, but would you mind to tell me what’s actually going on? Why would you want to marry someone like me?” Alonso asked Perry in a comforting tone as placed his left hand on her shoulder
“you wouldn’t understand” Perry said after a short while
“I know but you can still try to explain. I mean your brother already hates me so you can as well just tell me what I am getting into” Alonso requested
“Castillo Empire was built by two best friends, my dad Mr. Montillo and his best friend Mr. Castle, so they merged both their names and got CASTILLO. Do you understand?” Perry asked as she noticed the confusion on his face and he nodded in agreement
“So basically, the next heir is supposed to be Mr. Castle’s son Orlando, and literally his whole family when missing, and hasn’t been found yet.”Perry explained and became emotional. Orlando was her bast friend just like their fathers were, and they seemed to be growing into each other
“So how did Philip get into the picture?” Alonso asked curiously
“After the death of my mum years back, my dad took in a second wife and she already had a son that’s Philip, but he never legally adopted Philip”
“where do I come in, in all of this?” Alonso questioned, as he tried to imagine the craziness going on in Perry's family
“There is a clause in the Castillo business agreement, that only a male son, born, married or adopted can become the next heir of the empire.
Philip wasn’t adopted, so he cant become the true heir but he has been so devious and has been able to pull up strings and gotten supporters to make him CEO making my family loose everything to a stranger.” Perry explained as he stood up from where she sat and took a short walk
“my father is in a vegetative state of mind after he fell ill some months ago, and Philip forcefully took over and is ruining everything. It is up to me now to take back everything” Perry said as she turned to Alonso with a pale face
“Now this is where you come in. I want to make you a legal heir than Philip by bringing you into the family through marriage. I will pay you more than I promised, as long as you promise to help me fight Philip and also be loyal to me” Perry concluded as she looked into Alonso’s eye who was stoned at what he just heard
“you want me, to go up against whom? Philip? Hell no. I disagree” Alonso opted out
“You don’t have a choice here, you owe me a lot of money and its either you pay, which we know you can't, or you man up. So which would it be?” Perry asked looking straight into Alonso's eye, as he looked around spontaneously avoiding eye contact
Perry grabbed Alonso's left hand with her right hand and gently patted it with her left hand.
“I know you have so many questions, but don’t bother asking, just follow my lead,” she said with a fake smile as she continued patting.
Alonso felt uncomfortable with the patting but couldn’t take his hands away. He locked eyes with the big black-golden colored ring on Perry's middle finger
And his eyes caught the genuine and beautiful sculpture that was engraved on the ring. It looked familiar but he couldn’t tell from where.
Shortly Perry got a call and asked Alonso to join her. Alonso couldn’t get his mind at a place as he thought of where he has seen that sculpture
Then it clicked. It was the exact sculpture engraved on his locket. Although the locket may be old, it had the same black-golden color, and the sculpture was on both sides of the locket.
Perry dropped off Alonso at a hotel “I heard you are homeless, so stay here for a while, someone will attend to you shortly” she said and went her way.
Throughout the journey, Alonso’s mind was preoccupied with the thought of the sculpture as he stole glances at the ring every second he got.
Simultaneously, he felt his locked and his mind wandered.
Could Perry be the key to him finding his family? Or could he be related to Perry? He thought but waved it off as a mere coincidence.
A middle-aged man called on him as he stood at the entrance waiting for the person Perry talked about.
He got to the room assigned to him and took a cold shower and then straight to his king-size bed. He had never experienced such luxury and couldn’t remember when he had much spare time to relax.
He was either on one job or the other, and most of the income he made went to the girl he loved. It didn’t matter doing all the hard work, as long as she was happy.
At this point, his mind wandered off to Lyra and his emotions began rushing in. He missed her and thought of going to see her even though from a distance, but the fear of what he might see her doing, stopped him.
What if Perry is your sister? A voice asked within Alonso and he stood up in anger praying it doesn’t happen. He doesn’t know what was going on in the family, but being an in-law to such an influential family was more than enough for him.
A knock on his door brought him to reality.
“Good day Mr. Montez, this will be your outfit for tonight, and Miss Montillo ordered that you do not come to the event with your locket. She says it's ugly and old” a young lad said as he offered him the cloth and left.
