He couldn’t imagine not wearing his locket. “here, this was found in the pocket of the jacket you wore the day I found you, maybe it can lead you to your family” those were the last words of the man who saved him so Alonso couldn’t afford to do without it
He went and gave it a good scrub as he had his shower, but there was no difference, but he wasn’t going to change it anyway.
Chatters, giggles, and greetings could be heard from the background as well as exotic cars pulling over, as Alonso arrived at the hotel of the event.
The whole environment glittered with sparkling expensive white tux worn by the men and a white dinner dress worn by the ladies with a touch of red by both gender
It was an all-night party, and if an outfit wasn’t sent ahead of time for Alonso, he would have been the odd one out.
Alonso braced up and showed his locket proudly, forgetting the warning of Perry as he walked to the entrance.
“good day sir” the security at the entrance greeted and bowed as he walked in. He felt odd but believed they had been briefed of his coming beforehand, hence the preferential treatment.
“Please sir come with me,” a guard said most respectfully, as he walked him to a section prepared for the VIPs.
“I can’t sit here. It is reserved” Alonso said as he attempted to leave, but he was offered the best sit in the section and served the best wine.
He didn’t eat at first, but since the event was taking too long to start, he helped himself to an apple and a glass of wine.
“who dare sit on the chairman sit?” a deep thunderous voice asked, which made Alonso almost choke on the wine.
He turned around in haste and saw Perry and Philip, standing with an old man who sat on a wheelchair and seemed like the boss, with an extravagantly dressed lady with them and tons of guards.
The look on Perry and Philip's faces wasn't friendly and he knew he was in big trouble.
Not a word was said, and he was dragged out by a guard and locked up. He couldn’t understand what was wrong as no one explained.
Just as he was saying his last prayer in the extremely dark room he was locked up in, loud footsteps approached and the door opened and the light came on. It shone so bright that he couldn’t see who walked in
A man in an expensive white Tux walked in vigorously, with his eyes lit with joy walked in with the guard who took him to the section.
“I told him I didn’t want to sit there, but he insisted I do” Alonso cried out as he feared they had come to kill him, even though the expression the man wore gave positive vibes
“I will ask you this for the last time, what did you say you saw?” he asked the guard who walked in with him.
“he walked in with an old locket with the family's identity sculpture boldly on both sides and I felt he was the boss that was why I offered him the position. I didn’t know he was a thief” he said with his eyes on the ground.
“fa.. did you say, family?” Alonso asked after losing his voice for a second. His ears could not believe what they heard and his heart raced faster than it should.
“get me that locket” the man ordered but Alonso refused to let them have it.
After a short struggle, the man ordered them to stop and walked to Alonso himself gently to see the locket. He knelt to be on eye level with Alonso and asked to see the locket
“ I won’t let you have it,” he said grabbing onto it firmly and ready to start a fight with anyone from laying hands on it even though he was going to certainly lose the fight as he wasn’t much of a fighter
“I just want to have a short peek at it please” he pleaded in a soft tone and Alonso let him have a glimpse with the locket still on his neck.
“Everyone, leave us this minute” he ordered as he took a closer look at the locket.
His eyes were filled with surprise and excitement and his mouth felt like it lost words, so he hugged Alonso tightly. That was all he could do at the moment.
“Are you okay?” Alonso asked as he tried to free himself from the tight grip of the man as he sobbed quietly
“We have missed you,” he said with a voice filled with tears and gently let go of the grip he had on Alonso.
“sir can you please explain what the hell is happening, first I got dragged in here to be beaten, and now you are hugging me and crying. I am confused, do you know me from somewhere?”
Alonso asked, as he stood up and got a safe distance from the man. He wasn’t thinking of running, at least not from the perfect life he is about to have with Perry
“where are your parents?” the man asked, but Alonso brushed off the question and demanded an explanation.
“Before I tell you anything further, I need to be extremely sure of your identity. What is in the locket?” the man asked, and the question threw Alonso off the rail
He had seen a keyhole and had tried severally to open it but he couldn’t. He didn’t give an answer to the question and it was written all over his face
“if the key I have opens it, and what is inside is confirmed, then I will believe you are the master,” he said and asked for the locket
Alonso hesitated but had been waiting for this moment for a long time and literally his whole life, his second life though
