In Morow State, Lanua City, at the Nexxon Villa.

“Mr. Maximillian Knight, you are under arrest for allegations of multiple crimes: embezzlement, bribery, and prostitution!”

One of the police officer declared firmly, breaking the silence of the night.

Max stood at the doorway of his luxurious villa, his eyes sharply fixed on the two officers dressed in dark blue uniforms who had just arrived.

“Are you sure you’ve come to the right place?”

Max asked coldly, suspecting they had the wrong person.

His voice was flat, though he was inwardly puzzled.

The taller officer, wearing sunglasses, held up a document.

“We’ve received an official report implicating you in these serious crimes. We need to take you to the station for further investigation.”

Max raised an eyebrow as he skimmed through the document.

“I’ve increased this state’s GDP tenfold, reaching $20 trillion. Do you really think I would need to embezzle money or accept bribes?”

As the future son-in-law of Governor Darrus Hayes, Max had devoted the last four years to transforming Morow State into a better place.

With a strong vision and leadership, he had turned a state once plagued by chaos and crime into a safe and orderly region, making it a model of success for other states.

The officer hesitated, momentarily doubtful.

But he remained firm.

“We can’t ignore this report, Mr. Max. We’re just following orders.”

Max smirked cynically.

His mind wandered to his past, wondering who might be behind this.

Perhaps someone or a group threatened by the significant changes he had brought to this state.

He knew many people behind the scenes were unsettled by the progress he had achieved.

“So, who reported me? Who’s scared to see me making Morow State better?”

Before the officers could answer, the sound of an approaching car interrupted them.

A Bugatti La Voiture Noire purred as it stopped in front of Nexxon Villa.

A driver stepped out of the front seat and quickly opened the back door.

With graceful movements, a woman stepped out of the car.

She wore a dark green dress that highlighted her silhouette.

Her long brown hair cascaded elegantly over her shoulders, and she slowly removed her large, stylish sunglasses with finesse.

She was Seraphina Hayes, Max’s fiancee.

“I was the one who reported you.”

She said and walked confidently toward Max, each step radiating undeniable class and elegance.

What?!

"Why?"

But then, Max suddenly realized the reason.

And a cynical smile formed on his lips.

His hard work in transforming Morow State for the better had now become a prize in a power strugglea coveted gift for greedy politicians like the father of his fiancée.

Darrus Hayes had recently secured a landslide re-election victory.

His popularity soared, and he saw an opportunity to further solidify his position.

Meanwhile, the success of Morow State, a product of Max’s hard work, was a threat to Darrus.

Darrus wanted to claim that achievement as his own and ensure that Max would not be remembered as the key figure behind the state’s progress.

Seraphina stepped closer and sneered.

“Do you really think I would marry you? Stop dreaming!”

“My father plans to form a marriage alliance with a powerful family in the capital. He’s marrying me off to a young heir from a wealthy family.”

“That will strengthen his political position even further.”

She paused, observing Max’s unreadable reaction with disdain.

“And of course, our engagement will be annulled. We Hayes don’t ally with criminals.”

Understanding the situation, Max couldn’t hold back a cynical clap.

He chuckled bitterly, his voice low.

“What a good plan! But without me, do you think your father can manage Morow State?”

One month had passed since that day. The state of Morrow had slowly transformed into a place that was almost unrecognizable compared to its past. Cities that were once filled with fear had come back to life with a new face. Streets that had once been controlled by criminal gangs were now crowded with families strolling peacefully, children playing, and tourists arriving without worry. All of this happened after Max was officially appointed as the War Commander of Morrow State. A month ago, his identity was finally revealed to the public. The entire state learned who the man was who had secretly destroyed the largest gangster network in the region. News about Max spread rapidly to every city, every district, and even to the smallest villages. No criminal organization dared to show itself anymore. Many had already been destroyed. The rest fled far away from Morrow State. Within a short time, security across the entire region improved drastically. Markets became lively again. Hotels

Seraphina immediately turned when she heard that voice. At the top of the stairs, Max stood casually. His hair was still slightly damp from the shower he had just finished. He wore a simple black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing the firm lines of his muscles. His gaze was cold, directed straight at the woman in the living room. For a moment, time seemed to stop for Seraphina. Then her face instantly brightened. “Max!”Without hesitation, she stepped forward. Her movements became graceful and seductive again—her hips swaying lightly. She stopped right in front of Max and smiled sweetly.“Yes,” she said softly. “I was released from prison… a week ago.”Her eyes sparkled. “Not just me. My father has been released too.”She tilted her head slightly, looking at Max’s face with deep feeling. But behind that smile, her mind was spinning quickly. She thought that Max had truly become even more handsome. It made her heart pound.Max was supposed to be hers. “Max…” he

Via quickly turned toward the stairs and immediately bowed slightly. “Miss Aurora—” Aurora descended calmly. She was wearing a simple cream house dress, her hair falling softly over her shoulders. Her face looked fresh. Her gaze swept across the living room—Via standing tense, Tsahik rigid and silent, and the unfamiliar woman sitting stiffly on the sofa with an expression of anger mixed with panic. “Miss Aurora,” Via said carefully, “she says that she is—” “I am Max’s fiancée!” Seraphina cut in sharply. Her voice echoed through the living room. She looked at Aurora with her chin lifted, trying to maintain her dignity even though her body still felt heavy. Then she turned to Tsahik in irritation. “Release me right now!” Aurora did not show even the slightest hint of surprise. No raised eyebrow, no held breath. Only calmness. Max had told her long ago. About the political engagement between families. About the old agreement he had never truly regarded as a bond of the heart.

Tsahik and Via looked at each other.“Mr. Max’s fiancée?” Via repeated, her eyebrows raised high.Tsahik looked at the woman with a cold gaze. “Sorry. Mr. Max already has a wife. They are married.”Seraphina did not look surprised. Her smile remained on her lips, thin and full of confidence. “I know.”Via blinked. “You know?”“Of course.” Seraphina’s voice sounded light, almost mocking. “But I am his legal fiancée. Our engagement was arranged long before that marriage happened.” She lifted her chin slightly. “Now, where is he? I want to meet my fiancé.”Tsahik did not like the way she said the word fiancé as if she had absolute rights.“Please wait outside,” Tsahik said flatly. But Seraphina had already stepped forward. Without permission and without hesitation, she pushed the small gate that was not fully closed and walked inside toward the main door.“Excuse me, Miss,” Via hurried after her, her voice turning anxious. “You are not allowed to enter freely.”Seraphina did not even tur

Aurora stepped closer and looked at Jale calmly. “Stand up,” she said gently but clearly.Jale flinched, then hurriedly rose to his feet. His face was still wet with tears, his eyes red and swollen. As soon as he stood, he immediately bowed deeply toward Aurora.“Thank you… thank you so much,” he said repeatedly, his voice trembling. “I will not forget your kindness. Never.”Tina stood up beside him. She also bowed respectfully, tears still streaming down her cheeks. “Thank you, Aurora. We truly owe you.”Aurora only nodded slowly. There was no arrogance on her face, nor any satisfaction. She looked tired, yet relieved.Without daring to say anything more, Jale and Tina turned and left the hall. Their steps were hurried, as if afraid that all of this was nothing more than a dream that could vanish at any moment. The grand doors of the hall closed behind them, and the event continued. The music started playing again, the guests began to move, but the atmosphere had changed forever.Lis

Max raised one hand, his palm open toward Jale and Tina. “Enough,” he said flatly. Max’s voice remained calm, controlled, like a king delivering a verdict, not an outburst of anger. “This is a lesson for you,” he continued. His gaze was sharp, pressing down without the need to raise his voice. “Envy toward another person’s success will only destroy yourselves.” Jale and Tina lowered their heads even further. “If you want to stand at the top. If you want to succeed,” Max said slowly, each word falling clearly, “work until your teeth are clenched from exhaustion. Build connections through ability, not hatred. Achieve success through effort, not through wrongdoing.” He paused briefly, letting his words sink in. “Never again try to destroy someone’s success just because you feel left behind,” he continued coldly. “Do you understand?” Jale nodded quickly, almost striking the floor with his forehead. “I understand, Mr. Max… I understand.” Tina nodded repeatedly as well, tears falli
