Chapter 1
0001
In Morow State, Lanua City, at the Nexxon Villa.
“Mr. Maximillian Knight, you are under arrest for allegations of multiple crimes: embezzlement, bribery, and prostitution!” One of the police officer declared firmly, breaking the silence of the night. Max stood at the doorway of his luxurious villa, his eyes sharply fixed on the two officers dressed in dark blue uniforms who had just arrived. “Are you sure you’ve come to the right place?” Max asked coldly, suspecting they had the wrong person. His voice was flat, though he was inwardly puzzled. The taller officer, wearing sunglasses, held up a document. “We’ve received an official report implicating you in these serious crimes. We need to take you to the station for further investigation.” Max raised an eyebrow as he skimmed through the document. “I’ve increased this state’s GDP tenfold, reaching $20 trillion. Do you really think I would need to embezzle money or accept bribes?” As the future son-in-law of Governor Darrus Hayes, Max had devoted the last four years to transforming Morow State into a better place. With a strong vision and leadership, he had turned a state once plagued by chaos and crime into a safe and orderly region, making it a model of success for other states. The officer hesitated, momentarily doubtful. But he remained firm. “We can’t ignore this report, Mr. Max. We’re just following orders.” Max smirked cynically. His mind wandered to his past, wondering who might be behind this.Perhaps someone or a group threatened by the significant changes he had brought to this state.
He knew many people behind the scenes were unsettled by the progress he had achieved.“So, who reported me? Who’s scared to see me making Morow State better?”
Before the officers could answer, the sound of an approaching car interrupted them.
A Bugatti La Voiture Noire purred as it stopped in front of Nexxon Villa.
A driver stepped out of the front seat and quickly opened the back door.
With graceful movements, a woman stepped out of the car.
She wore a dark green dress that highlighted her silhouette.
Her long brown hair cascaded elegantly over her shoulders, and she slowly removed her large, stylish sunglasses with finesse.
She was Seraphina Hayes, Max’s fiancee.
“I was the one who reported you.”
She said and walked confidently toward Max, each step radiating undeniable class and elegance.
What?!
"Why?"
But then, Max suddenly realized the reason.
And a cynical smile formed on his lips.
His hard work in transforming Morow State for the better had now become a prize in a power struggle—a coveted gift for greedy politicians like the father of his fiancée.
Darrus Hayes had recently secured a landslide re-election victory.
His popularity soared, and he saw an opportunity to further solidify his position. Meanwhile, the success of Morow State, a product of Max’s hard work, was a threat to Darrus.Darrus wanted to claim that achievement as his own and ensure that Max would not be remembered as the key figure behind the state’s progress.
Seraphina stepped closer and sneered.
“Do you really think I would marry you? Stop dreaming!”
“My father plans to form a marriage alliance with a powerful family in the capital. He’s marrying me off to a young heir from a wealthy family.”
“That will strengthen his political position even further.”
She paused, observing Max’s unreadable reaction with disdain.
“And of course, our engagement will be annulled. We Hayes don’t ally with criminals.”
Understanding the situation, Max couldn’t hold back a cynical clap.
He chuckled bitterly, his voice low. “What a good plan! But without me, do you think your father can manage Morow State?”Expand

AN UNDERSTATED POWER 0138
All the guests held their breath, their eyes now full of hope as they looked at Dixon. Oscar, the second richest billionaire in Vesula, sat with his chest puffed out. His hands adjusted the dark blue silk tie that could buy a luxury house. He smiled slightly, certain his name would be called. “This is my moment,” he whispered to himself. For him, becoming the gala chairman was the recognition he needed to solidify his dominance in Vesula’s business world. But he was not the only one confident of his chances. Yoseph, a 67-year-old man, sat upright with a face full of certainty. As the largest investor in Vesula, he felt his contributions could not be ignored. Over the past ten years, his company had supported almost half of Vesula’s economy. “If not me, then who is more worthy?” Yoseph thought. He had even prepared a short speech in case Dixon called his name, a speech about devotion and prosperity. On the other side of the room, Oyuma, an elderly man from a Vesula noble fa

AN UNDERSTATED POWER 0137
All the guests were stunned! No one could believe what they had just seen. Tamama Mizo—the number one billionaire in Vesula, the ruler of business who had always stood at the top, was now kneeling before Max, a young man who had only just started his company in this city?! It was humiliating! More than that, it was a disgrace that would be remembered. But all the guests knew Tamama had no other choice. He was doing this not out of respect for Max, but because of Dixon Edric… a legendary figure even the top conglomerates feared to oppose. The room fell silent again. Dixon’s aura pressed down heavily, making every breath feel suffocating. No one dared to look him directly in the eye, much less question his orders. “Enough,” Dixon’s voice was deep, calm, yet full of power. He glanced briefly at Tamama. “Return to your seat.” Tamama trembled as he rose, his knees nearly giving way. Head bowed, he walked back to his chair. All eyes followed his steps...some with pity, others secret

AN UNDERSTATED POWER 0136
As soon as Max and Frans sat back down in their seats, the table grew silent again. But the old man in the black suit, who had been belittling Max Corp from the start, immediately opened his mouth. His eyes were sharp, and his voice was full of mockery. "Where have you two been?" he asked loudly, making every head turn. "How dare you leave the dinner table during a gala dinner? That is disrespectful!" Frans tensed up, but Max remained calm. The old man lifted his chin high, speaking with a tone full of authority. "For this insolence, Max Corp deserves punishment. Do you think you can do as you please in Vesula? No. Everyone here must obey the rules!" He glanced at Max with a mocking smile, his eyes filled with disdain. "Now answer. Who holds the highest position in Max Corp?" The table fell silent again. Everyone waited curiously. Max lifted his head slightly, looking coldly at the old man, and replied flatly without the slightest hesitation. "Me. I am the owner of Max Corp."

Max replied, “I only have the ability to heal people because my master taught me.” As he opened his eyes wider, the two bodyguards who had been panicking quickly moved closer, trying to support their master’s body. But the old man raised his hand slightly, stopping them. “No need… my body already feels much better,” he said in a hoarse voice. He tried to sit up by himself, and indeed, his body was flexible again, and his face no longer looked pale. Frans stared with his mouth open, still unable to believe what Max had just done. Meanwhile, the old man turned to Max with a look full of gratitude. “Young man… you saved my life. Thank you.” Max only gave a slight smile. “It is natural for us to help each other. You don’t need to thank me.” The old man took a long breath, as if calming his heartbeat that had been unstable. Then he looked deeper into Max’s eyes. “Where did you learn such a technique? Who is your master?” The question made Max fall silent for a moment. His eyes narr

AN UNDERSTATED POWER 0134
A waiter wearing a black suit with a satin tie looked panicked for a moment, but quickly composed himself and stood straight in front of the round table, his voice still polite and formal. “Does anyone here have a personal doctor tonight?” he asked, looking at the thirteen guests seated around him. “There is an emergency… a guest suddenly fell ill and needs immediate medical treatment." Some of the guests just exchanged glances, then slowly shook their heads. A man in a dark blue Zegna suit looked at the waiter with a faint smile and said, “Of course we did not bring a personal doctor to a business gala premiere. We came here to discuss business, not to treat someone who is sick.” A few other people at the table chuckled softly, clearly showing their indifference. They went back to their conversations, sipping wine, and occasionally laughing lightly, as if the waiter's problem did not exist. At that moment, Max leaned forward and looked at the waiter who seemed hesitant. “What h

AN UNDERSTATED POWER 0133
The table fell silent. Frans glanced at Max, then slowly raised his hand. “Me,” he said, trying to sound confident. “My name is Frans, Director of the newly established Vesula branch of Max Corp. I came with Mr. Max, the owner of Max Corp.” Several people at the table raised their eyebrows. Others gave faint, crooked smiles… not friendly smiles, but ones filled with cold judgment. A woman in a black velvet gown with a large pearl necklace looked them up and down, then whispered to the man beside her. The man, wearing a silk-lined Tom Ford suit, only chuckled quietly. “Max Corp…” the old man murmured while swirling his wine glass. “A name unfamiliar to my ears.” Frans tried to smile. “We are indeed newcomers to Vesula, but we are committed—” “Newcomers,” interrupted a young man in a dark blue Zegna suit. “No wonder… your suits look worn and cheap.” Frans tensed slightly, but Max remained calm, his gaze steady. A few other guests gave thin laughs. To them, the business world in
