The steel I-beam tore through the air with a bone-chilling whistle, shattering the concrete pillar where Julian had stood half a second before. Clouds of gray dust and gravel exploded outward, peppering the surrounding darkness.

Roderick didn't pause. He swung the massive steel beam in a violent horizontal arc, aiming to bisect Julian at the waist.

Julian didn't back away. He ducked under the whistling steel, stepping into Roderick's guard.

At fifty-two, Julian knew better than to match raw kinetic energy against a two-hundred-and-fifty-pound brute. Instead, he used Roderick's momentum. Julian drove a open-palm strike directly into the side of Roderick's throat, immediately following it with a brutal double-pipe strike to the nerve cluster inside his lead shoulder.

Roderick gasped, his left arm going instantly numb. The heavy I-beam slipped from his grip, crashing onto the dirt arena floor with a deafening thud.

"You're fast, old man!" Roderick roared through gritted teeth, shaking off the paralysis and throwing a devastating right hook aimed straight at Julian's jaw.

Julian caught the wrist, turned his body inside the arc, and executed a precise shoulder throw. The sheer force of Roderick’s charge sent him flying over Julian’s hip, slamming back-first onto the dirt with an impact that echoed through the cavernous foundry.

Before Roderick could recover his breath, Julian dropped his knee onto Roderick’s chest, pinning him to the earth, and drove two short, piston-like punches directly into his nose and orbital bone.

Blood sprayed across the dirt.

Roderick choked on his own blood, his hands flailing to grip Julian’s throat, but Julian reached down, seized Roderick’s thumb, and snapped it backward with a sickening crack.

Roderick let out a guttural scream that choked off into a bloody cough.

"Twenty-seven years ago, you helped Arthur kill Audrey," Julian said, his voice terrifyingly calm, devoid of anger or exertion. He maintained the crushing pressure on Roderick's chest, staring down into the brute's swollen, blood-soaked face. "You thought power was just muscle and noise."

"Fuck... you..." Roderick wheezed, his eyes wide with a mix of blinding pain and sudden, dawning terror. "Arthur... will tear... your daughter... apart..."

"Arthur doesn't even know where she is," Julian whispered. He reached into Roderick’s tactical vest, pulling out an encrypted metal flash drive suspended from a titanium neck chain. He snapped the chain with a sharp jerk. "And you won't be around to tell him."

In Zurich, Beatrix watched the vital telemetry feeds on her terminal. She heard the heavy, strained breathing over the open comm channel.

"Nine-Seven," Beatrix said softly, her voice steady despite the weight of the moment. "I've established a remote bridge to the drive you just pulled. Decrypting the key now."

On her screen, lines of green hexadecimal code rapidly decoded, revealing a massive financial matrix.

"It's a ledger key," Beatrix reported, her eyes tracking the cascading files. "Roderick wasn't just a brute. He was holding the offshore accounts for the Brotherhood's eastern European operations. Shell companies, corrupt politicians, arms syndicates... it's all here."

"Copy that, Handler," Julian replied quietly into his earbud.

On the dirt floor, Roderick looked up at Julian through a swollen eye. The arrogant tyrant who had ruled the Prague underworld was gone, replaced by a broken man bleeding into the dirt of his own trap.

"Julian... wait..." Roderick rasped, his hand feebly reaching up. "We... we were brothers once..."

Julian looked at him for a single, unblinking second.

"The Brotherhood died twenty-seven years ago, Roderick."

Julian raised his right hand, locked his thumb behind Roderick’s jawline, and drove a precise, lethal strike into the carotid sinus.

Roderick’s body twitched once, went rigid, and then went completely limp.

Silence reclaimed the iron foundry. Rain continued to drum against the high, broken skylights, washing the fine layer of concrete dust from Julian’s face and coat.

Julian stood up, smoothed the lapels of his suit, and picked his suppressed sidearm up from the concrete block where he had left it. He slid the weapon into his shoulder holster and retrieved his tactical gloves.

"Target two neutralized," Julian reported into his comms, stepping over the fallen steel girders toward the shadowy side exit. "Handler, status on target three."

In Zurich, Beatrix closed the decryption window, saving the first quarter of the Brotherhood's master ledger onto an isolated, air-gapped drive. She opened a new satellite window, bringing up a high-resolution map of central Austria.

"Target three is Felicity Brooke," Beatrix said, her voice turning crisp and professional. "She's located in Vienna. And Nine-Seven... she isn't waiting for you in an empty building."

Julian stepped out into the dark, rain-slicked alleyway of Prague, pulling his coat collar up against the cold wind.

"What is she doing?" Julian asked.

"She just checked into the Grand Hotel Vienna," Beatrix replied, highlighting a high-society charity gala scheduled for the top floor. "And she's rigged the building's structural columns with commercial demolition charges."

Julian's eyes hardened into ice as he slipped into the shadows of the alley.

"Set our route for Vienna, Handler," Julian ordered. "The Ghost is moving."

The heavy brass handle of the utility room door clicked softly as it settled back into place. Outside in the sixth-floor carpeted corridor, the low, steady murmur of string instruments drifted up from the grand ballroom below, mingling with the faint scent of expensive floral perfume and polished mahogany.Julian remained unmoving in the dim fluorescent light of the maintenance room. His fingers rested lightly against the handle of the non-metallic ceramic pistol concealed within his tuxedo jacket. Beside him, the black junction box hummed with high-frequency radio transmissions, its seven fiber-optic conduits glowing with a pale, rhythmic pulse as they carried monitoring signals into the structural heart of the Grand Hotel Vienna."Handler check," Julian murmured, his voice barely a breath against the air intake vent."Signal clear, Nine-Seven," Beatrix replied. The Grand Hotel Vienna glowed under the cold, steady drizzle of the Austrian night. Inside the grand ballroom on the eighth floor, three hundred members of Europe's political and industrial elite mingled beneath crystal chandeliers, sipping champagne against a backdrop of classical strings. Two miles away, sitting in the back of a panel van parked in a dark alley near the Karlskirche, Julian adjusted his black tuxedo jacket. His gray hair was neatly combed back, and his earpiece was concealed beneath a layer of synthetic skin match."Handler check," Julian said quietly into the dark."Signal clear, Nine-Seven," Beatrix's voice came through instantly. In her Zurich sanctuary, her dual monitors displayed a split feed: a real-time thermal scan of the hotel's structural blueprint on the left, and a live hack of the building's internal security matrix on the right. "Felicity Brooke is in the ballroom. She's attending as an honored guest under the name Baroness von Brandt.""And the charges

The sentry turrets clicked empty one by one, their feed belts expended. His teeth gritted into a snarl."Vane!" Roderick bellowed into his radio, his voice echoing off the corrugated iron walls. "Report! Where is he?!"The static crackled. At six-foot-four and two hundred and fifty pounds, Roderick was the Obsidian Brotherhood’s heavy hammer—a man who had built his reputation not through shadow tradecraft, but through unstoppable, blunt violence. On the concrete balcony fifteen feet above the foundry floor, his second-in-command, a sharp-featured mercenary named Vane, leaned over the iron railing."Roderick," Vane called down, holding a satellite tablet.
