CHAPTER 3

Quinn sat on the chair, with his finger tapping softly on the furniture.

Everything was going according to his plan.

“I need you to come to this address and do some renovations, and I want it fast.”

He was speaking to a man on the phone.

“I need everything to be done in a week, is that possible please?” Quinn spoke into the phone.

“I know it would cost me and I am willing to pay but I'd like you to come see the house first.”

“Okay thank you very much.” Quinn stated and ended the call.

Just as the call ended, a sharp knock came from outside the building.

“Those beasts are quick with getting the right information.” Quinn chuckled to himself.

He could already sense who was behind the door.

Standing outside was Lisa, and she held a document in her hands.

“Quinn, it really is you.” Lisa was shocked when she saw the person who had opened the door.

“If you have nothing else to say, you can take your leave.”

Quinn sharply answered, looking down at her.

Lisa swallowed.

Was he pained because she had cheated on him?

The Quinn she knew wasn't this hard headed.

“Quinn, I know that what I did was wrong. I'm really sorry but it wasn't my fault. I promise you, I was forced, and I didn't want to betray you.” Tears flowed down from Lisa's eyes.

This was her last option.

Quinn merely stared at her.

There was no way he would let this drama queen get the best of him.

Seeing that her display was having no effect, Lisa straightened up and wiped her eyes

“It's not fair Quinn. How could you hide your wealth and then make your family suffer in penury?” Lisa spoke up.

Then she threw the documents on the floor.

“And as soon as you got wealthy, you threw us all under the bus.”

Lisa knew that this place was an estate so it was her direct plan to bring Quinn under scrutiny, even from his neighbours.

But what she didn't know was that Quinn wasn't the same person she knew.

This Quinn was shameless and he did not give two fucks.

“Oh? I hid my wealth? Is that what you have to say, Lisa? Didn't you hide that bastard child?”

Quinn sneered.

“You cheated on me with another man. Does the Rodriguez Family know how much of a slut their daughter is?”

By this time, the neighbours were bringing their ears out of the window.

Redness crept onto Lisa's face after her plan backfired.

“What are you doing Quinn? This isn't like you. I already apologised.”

Lisa frowned, bringing her voice to a harsh whisper.

Quinn chuckled, “We have no business together, Lisa Rodriguez. The divorce papers have been mailed to you. Get out of my property.”

Quinn slammed the door and walked back inside, leaving Lisa fuming outside.

“How dare that bastard!” She gritted her teeth.

At that moment, a call went through her phone.

“Hello, who is this?”

“It's Zachary, Lisa. I heard something about Quinn. You divorced him? I thought you were waiting until after you made him sign the transfer?”

Lisa sighed, she didn't want to trouble Zachary because everything had been his plan.

But somehow, she had ruined it.

“No, he found out about the pregnancy and his inheritance and divorced me.”

There was a pause at the other end of the call, before Zachary laughed.

“Unless he came back from the future, that's not possible. I made sure to keep everything under wraps. How did he know about the pregnancy?”

Lisa bit her lips. She could already hear the accusations in his voice.

“I don't know, Zach.”

“It's fine. If he can afford such a house, it's possible that he has so much more under him. You can use it in court and then the divorce agreement can be nullified, due to hidden wealth.”

“What about the pregnancy?”

“That's easy. He violated you domestically, and then you sought comfort from someone else. It was a mistake of physical and emotional trauma.”

Zachary explained with ease. It wasn't the first time he had gotten involved in all this drama.

As a lawyer, he had worked with a lot of clients and he had seen a lot of money.

They couldn't just let Quinn get away with so much.

It wasn't just greed, it was the overwhelming annoyance that someone like Quinn could get his hands on so much money.

That man wouldn't even use it well.

“Are you listening to me, Lisa? Get a very good lawyer. If you have to take a loan, take it. When we get the payment, you'll pay it back.”

Lisa nodded quickly, “Oh my gosh, Zach, you are so smart, I love you.”

“It's okay. Please be smart about it this time.” Zachary said and ended the call.

Lisa scoffed. She had always been smart about it but it was unimaginable to how Quinn found out.

She hated how this made her feel inferior to Zachary.

Greed moved into her heart like a snake.

As soon as she got her hands on Quinn's money, she would abort the child and run away to live a better life.
