In no time, Quinn was at the financial office.

“Yes, I came here to claim my grandfather's inheritance as written in his will. Here are my identification documents.”

Quinn dropped the file on the table, waiting for the man.

He was in no rush as he still had three weeks left.

“Oh? You are Quinn Flintshire? It's an honour to meet you, Sir.”

The finance officer's attitude did a quick turn, after realising the man that stood in front of him.

The identity confirmation was a quick process and soon, all the assets of this grandfather were transferred into his name.

However in the new world, assets meant nothing in the fight for survival.

“I'd like to sell all the lands, the arts, and the gold that my grandfather had in his possession for cash. How much would that be in total?”

Quinn said coolly, smoothing the sleeve of his shirt.

This was one of the two shirts he had.

Anything he mentioned to Lisa, she would always speak about saving for their children's future and him being ungrateful.

But the woman changed her wardrobe every four months.

Quinn had always thought she would change in the future.

But after surviving that future, he realised there was nothing like change for the wicked.

The finance office was surprised at the request.

“Sir, reports showed that people right now are spending their money on stocks, golds and wonderful gems and assets. These things would have a substantial value increment in years to come. Are you sure you want to do this, Sir?”

The officer asked.

Quinn gave a curt nod, “That's my choice.”

The officer instantly went to work.

The conversion wasn't a problem, it was the instant calculation that came with it

“Sir. It might take a while and you'd have to come back tomorrow, but right now, the available amount is fifty million dollars.”

Quinn nodded. This was the first time he had so much money.

And now he could plan everything he wanted to do and start work immediately.

“Thank you and ensure that the news of this remains wrapped. I want no one to know about this.”

The transfer was made and Quinn walked out of the bank.

Now he had the resources he needed, so it was time to get back to work .

But before that, Quinn walked into a restaurant and ordered food.

It has been four months since he had tasted something good.

Even in those four months that he stayed with the Rodriguez family, there wasn't enough food for him and he survived on scraps.

A tear slipped from Quinn's eyes as he savoured the flavour of the food.

He could remember the pain he had gone through but this time, not any more.

“Time to get to work.” Quinn muttered and walked out of the restaurant.

The first thing on his list was to buy a house.

And he went to the best agency he knew.

Walking inside the company, a man quickly walked up to him.

“Good morning, Sir. How can I help you please?”

“I'd like to buy a house. One with an underground garage and four storeys high. Would that be possible?” Quinn asked.

The reason he had asked for a tall place was because of the incoming flood, before the appearance of the cold ice age.

The sales man looked like he was deep in thought, then his face brightened up.

“I have just the right place for you, Sir. Please follow me.”

Quinn shook his head, “We don't have to see it. Just give me a picture and the price so I can pay for it. I barely have time to waste.”

The sales man was shocked.

Most of the time he would have to convince the customers on why they should get a particular house.

But this man was rather straightforward.

“It's ten million dollars, Sir.” The man said. Although there was fear in his heart.

He had given the lowest price because he was afraid this customer would run off.

“Okay, where do I pay it?”

“Sir, if you want it at a much lower price, I'm afraid but… Wait, what did you say?”

“It's okay. Just tell me where I need to pay.” Quinn asked again.

The man was flabbergasted.

“This is my account Sir. Once you have transferred, the deal would be settled and you'd receive the documents of ownership within two days.” The man quickly said, handing Quinn a card.

Within minutes, Quinn made the transfer, even adding an extra million.

“The extra million is for you. The reports are coming of big disasters, so you should try to stockpile a bit.” Quinn uttered, smiling at the man.

“But you can choose to ignore my advice. It might not be a big storm after all.” Quinn added, not wanting the man to think he was also insane.

The sales man nodded fervently, wanting to tear up.

“My name is James, Sir. You can call me anytime you need assistance. Here is the key to the mansion. Should I come along with you to locate it?”

Quinn shook his head, “Thank you but it's fine. I'd work it out on my own.”

Now the next step has been completed.

He had gotten a house.

The building was easy to locate as it was amongst the top estates in the city.

“This is it, and it shouldn't be long before those vipers hear the news.”

Quinn smiled to himself, standing in front of the door.

He was right.

Within hours, in such a small place, news travels fast.

Especially when it related to a down on the luck human being who could afford a house without negotiating.

“Esther, have you heard about the news?”

Esther had just stepped out of the kitchen, serving her guests.

But inside she was not happy because this duty belonged to Quinn.

“What news? I'm not really following the latest trends. I'm much too busy these days.”

One of the women who had spoken chuckled inside, before speaking.

“Your daughter's husband just bought a massive house. We heard that he didn't even negotiate.”

“It was worth twenty million dollars.”

Rumors were always exaggerated and this time, it was enough to send Esther into a spiral.

“You don't know what you are saying. That man has nothing in his account. How could he suddenly afford so much money?” Esther waved off the news with a chuckle.

“You should ask your daughter. I'm sure she must have heard by now.”

Esther frowned, she didn't like the way she was being talked to.

“Where did you hear such news? And do you know where that man is living?” She asked them with a frown.

The two women rose to their feet, “Why are you asking us? I thought you didn't want to believe us?”

Esther chuckled awkwardly, “I want to see for myself. It's not like I don't believe you but Quinn being rich is very unbelievable.”

“Is that so? I guess you won't mind if I introduced my own daughter to him.”
