His eyes flipped open and immediately scanned his surroundings. He was clad in silk, top tender and warm.
Wrapped perfectly well in soft clothes, he was kept to rest in a cradle in a room. The interiors were decorated with fine lined golden artifacts and very spacious. The air around him was smooth and warm, unlike what he had always known.
His consciousness was still intact ans he knew he was alive but now in a different body.
The goddess appeared suddenly before him and he jerked softly.
“Child,” she called proudly, caressing his skin softly.
“I don't like it here!” He begged, but she chuckled softly and vanished, but he words echoed across the room.
“The journey begins here…”
He tried to scream after she left, but his voice was a sharp contrast to what he had always known. He was crying like an infant, and this was when it dawned on him that he was actually an infant.
The door flung open and a woman, clad in royal blue apparel rushed in, alongside a company of maids and a with a curly blue hair and bold blue eyes and a royal robe hanging over his shoulder.
She held him softly and he immediately calmed himself, trying to understand what was going on.
“My baby,” she patted him softly and kissed him warmly. The man, probably her husband hugged her warmly and kissed him too, but a servant walked in and interrupted the moment.
“Forgive me,” he immediately dropped to the ground and hid his face. “Duke Severin, Lady Morrigan, you have visitors and your presence is needed immediately.” He beckoned.
Kale studied the setting carefully and discovered he was reborn to royalty.
“Let's go,” he pleaded with lady Morrigan. She hesitantly followed him, but not without doing something that seemed somewhat strange to him.
“Get him changed, I'll come feed him myself.” She muttered some words and he immediately recognized those words. It was a dark magic ritual and he noticed Duke Severin also muttered a few words too. It didn't take him long before he knew that his new parents were sorcerers and not just ordinary sorcerers—dark magic—shadow and blood, the strongest clan in history.
The spell was a spell he recognized, an ancient cloaking spell he found once in the old archives as a warrior.
As she exited the door, she smiled warmly at him.
“I love you, Kael,” she blew a kiss at him and left.
His mind was pricked with thoughts. His name was still Kael here and he really enjoyed it here, even the short while he stayed still felt surreal.
Unlike his first parents, they actually loved him and protected him fiercely.
But time moved on swiftly in his life and he wss taught thier ways and grew up in their care with love and power, also trained to be a warrior, preparing for his 18th birthday. However, despite the love and care, he kept his past life hidden from them and allowed himself to be groomed in their ways, not until today, the long awaited day.
“Kael!” Lady Morrigan called. He quickly rushed into the room. He was now a young man, looking well built and muscular with a soft face. “Get ready, the event is about to start. Remember, today's a special day.” She smiled and kissed his forehead warmly. “Get dressed now, I'll be waiting for you alongside your father at the awakening chamber.”
Without hesitation, he rushed in and got dressed in the clothes that were already prepared, the golden robes he had been dieing to wear every since childhood.
He still knew himself, but this awakening was much revered by his parents and though it didn't seem very important to him, he wanted to understand the mystery behind it, maybe, he'll be exposed to the dark magical side of the family now.
He walked in elegantly, his posh dress sweeping the floor as he moved and stood firmly on the altar, facing the crowd.
The crowd cheered and roared and his face was firm. His mom walked over to him, still possessive of him like he was still an infant and whispered softly.
“Be strong, my child.” That voice in that moment seemed too familiar, it was more like the goddess spoke through her to him.
Duke Severin pulled her back now and patted him softly.
“And it begins!”
The grounds shook softly with the loud banging of the metals on the walls, followed by the massive chants and cries by the crowd.
His parents were by the corner, thier hands wrapped in each other's, just like that day, thier eyes fixed on him. Slowly, surge of energy flowed through him and moved speedily, taking over his soul.
Without warning, the magic erupted fully from him, immensely with a great force that shook the whole arena. It wasn't just normal magic, but a terrifying mix of his new family’s shadow magic and his old soul's rage, burning through the crowd and consumed him.
His eyes glowed with golden hues as the flames burned inside him. He saw the goddess by the door, standing and smiling warmly at him, her arms crossed and hee beauty shone brightly with power and an unmatched aura.
Thereafter, he falls to the ground, the power was overwhelming and his mom rushed to him and breathed some words to him.
After the final ritual, he was taken to his room to rest. Before she left, she whispered.
“Welcome my child, well done my warrior, now, you're a sorcerer.”
She kissed his forehead and left the room. The moment she left the room, he quickly stood up and rushed to the mirror. The golden hues he saw on the goddess face was a reflection of his old face and he needed to be aure what he looked like now.
But he sees a new face, Violet eyes, fair skin, hair dark like the night ans he spoke to the mirror.
“My souls are merged.”
He isn't just Kael Ashford or Kael Duskborne anymore, he is something more. He is the avenger of souls and with a final look at his reflection on the mirror, he released the words slowly.
“I remember everything, and for every sin, there will be consequences…”
