Mr. Sylvester didn’t blink. “I want to see your resignation letter on my desk first thing tomorrow morning,” he said coldly. “You are unfit to hold any public office.”

The senator’s wife fell to her knees again, sobbing, her voice shrill and desperate. “We’ll do anything! Please! Don’t ruin us!”

The principal was not spared, he was also dragged away.

But Adrian stood there, unmoved, his face unreadable.

The officers dragged the couple away until they faded completely.

The entire playground seemed to exhale all at once.

No one dared to speak.
