BURP!

“Nice dishes you guys have here, I'd love to come here next time.

Burping so loud it echoed across the whole restaurant a satisfied young man could be seen rubbing his slightly bulging stomach,a smile of satisfaction on his face as he waltzed out the restaurant.

Both the restaurant staff and the customers all had looks of fear and astonishment like they had seen a monster on their faces as they watched him leave. It wasn't their fault though as they had seen him consume enough food to feed a whole family for two good days and his stomach barely changed at all!

When the manager heard the youngster mention that he might come back he nearly vomited blood. He was already thinking of closing shop. That kid was a total disaster.

Naturally this lord of gluttony was none other than Dante. After leaving the academy premises he had gone straight to one of the restaurants that offered buffet services he remembered. There he had shown them the terror of someone starved of a proper meal for five good years.

It truly was impossible to describe the joy he had felt when he finally tasted something other than the mutated beast meat he had been consuming for the last five years in the apocalypse. When he had bitten into the noodles they had tears of joy nearly fell from his eyes.

It truly was great to be back even if it was just for a while.

Walking out of the restaurant he hummed a tune as he made his way to his apartment oblivious to the shocked feelings of everyone in the restaurant.

If looks could kill the shop owner's glare was probably enough to kill Dante a gazillion times over!

After walking for a while, his surroundings gradually changed from the high end bustling district of Brayden into a washed out part of the city. Soon he was standing in front of an old looking apartment building. Pausing, his gaze blurred as he stared at the building, an aura of longing emanating from him.

“I'm home."

Taking a deep breath he entered the building, his own apartment was on the top floor just below the landlord's suite. The place was pretty decent but nothing more than that. To Dante however,it meant everything.

Climbing a whole load of stairs and cursing the stingy landlord for not installing an elevator he found himself standing in front of a wooden door with the numbers 209 emblazoned on it. Taking a deep breath he unlocked it and pushed it open.

The room was small, just as he remembered. He didn't have a lot of stuff so the room was quite empty however all that couldn't bother him right now. With tears at the corners of his eyes he simply reclined on his bed and then he…..slept!

***********

For the first time in five years Dante finally slept without any fear of not waking up,of not ending up as some abomination's meal. Curled up on his bed he slept just like a baby would with the occasional turn and toss.

The sun was already shining through the window sill I docating a new day though that made no difference to Dante as he clearly was still in dreamland.

The golden rays of the early morning sun shone through the window. It was already morning and a still sleeping Dante could be seen still hugging his pillow. In the apocalypse, getting enough sleep was like becoming a superhero—absolutely impossible!

Thus it was understandable when he was still snuggled up in bed at this time. However,a knocking sound soon disrupted his slumberhowever startling Dante. Immediately, he subconsciously reached for his trusty mace.

Suddenly however,he stopped in the middle of his m motion chuckling as he remembered that he was no longer in the apocalypse.

“I need to get used to this—for a while."

Lumbering off to the door it turned out to be the landlord asking for his rent. The grumpy old man was good in every other aspect except for his excessive love of money.

After coming up with a random excuse and swearing to pay his bills the old man left. He had just sat down on the bed when he remembered his agreement with Germaine. Hurriedly taking a bath he was soon set to leave.

“Huh….is this considered too early?”

Glancing at the time there was still an extra half hour before the agreed time, while he was planning to be punctual heading over too early wouldn’t also make sense . Right then he remembered the system rewards he had received from the first mission.

“Hey system pull up the interface”

Soon the now familiar interface appeared in front of him. Scrolling through he clicked on the missions panel.

Accept mission rewards?

Yes/No

Accepting the rewards he entered his inventory. There he found three items floating on the screen. The first being the E-Class weapon which he clicked on.

[You have received Serax’s pistol]

——————————

Type:Gaussian weapon

Damage:55

Ability:Lethal shot(The user has a chance of dealing critical damage when the enemy is two tiers higher. This is a passive ability.)

“Holy cow!"

Looking at the weapons description an excited look could be seen on Dante's face. The next moment he thought about the gun and it suddenly appeared in his hand.

Holding the pistol caused an indescribable feeling to course through Dante. It fitted his hand so well it was like it had been designed to be held by him. He knew that was just an illusion but it went to say how good the craftsmanship was. The pistol itself was very beautiful in a way that pleased the eyes with the intricate silver designs running through it’s length. Underneath that beauty however lied something deadly. Judging from his experience back in the apocalypse this gun could probably dispatch any e class mutated beast. The system's stuff were just too good!

The only bummer was the fact that there were only twelve bullets meaning that he could only use it strategically. Also the system description stated that it was a passive ability meaning that it wasn't always going to work.

That wasn't a problem though as he wasn't planning to depend wholly on the system,if he did he would probably die even faster than he could imagine.

Moving to the next reward a blueprint-like image appeared on the interface. While he wasn't sure what it meant he knew it also had to be something good. Considering the abilities his system gave him he had a guess about what this was about.

‘’Here goes nothing.’’

[Do you wish to learn the blueprint?]

‘’Ugh……yeah I guess.’’

The moment he clicked on it a flood of information rushed into his mind. For a while he felt a slight headache which soon disappeared as a bunch of new information suddenly appeared in his mind.

[E-Class blueprint:Basic power armour]

——————————

Description:Basic armour capable of protecting the user from both physical and elemental damage.

Materials needed for crafting: Steel,.....

Closing his eyes he quickly went through everything required to make the power armour, the process was nothing like he had ever seen on earth,in fact he wasn't sure if this method of crafting was even possible. You had to remember that he majored in design and fabrication. Somehow,he instinctively understood it despite the fact that he had never touched stuff like this before.

‘’Sigh……as expected of the system.’’

Right then the system's voice echoed in his head.

[As the champion of the mechanic shard understanding the way machines work is your innate gift and ability hence why you understood it easily. If it were another person they would never understand it even if they were given a decade.]

“You've got to be joking right?”

Forget about what was seen in the media, he knew that the level of technology humanity had achieved was greater than what was shown , especially those super nations. If not for the apocalypse that forced out most of these weapons everyone would have been in the dark.

Regardless he wasn't going to argue with the system, who knew it might be right.

Shrugging he focused on the list of materials. Given that all the materials were surprising mundane materials that could be found easily he could attempt building it before the apocalypse descended.

Finally it was time for the last reward item which was also the one that he had the most anticipation for—the gear of fortune.

[Gear of fortune]

Crank?

“Ugh…..yes.”

The next moment a rusty looking spur gear suddenly appeared in his eyes before it started to rotate as if a mysterious force was pushing it. At first it was slow, then it gradually picked up speed till it's teeth became a blur. Then suddenly just like it had started it froze like it was never even moving in the first place.

“I've hit the jackpot!"

[Congratulations! You’ve won a bag of chips!]

“Ye…wait what? Where's my reward? My precious winnings!”

“Damn you system!”

The spider was still occupied with the zombies throwing themselves at it giving them a chance to observe it. While Dante was having no issue since he had seen even more dangerous mutated beasts in the past the same couldn't be said about the trio behind him.The zombies were like a bunch of relentless moths that continuously threw themselves at a flame only to curl up dead. Each time the spider wiped out a bunch of zombies more quickly replaced it like they were endless. They had initially though that the zombies were the biggest issues they could face. Looking at the mutated spider before them though they suddenly wondered if they had a chance of seeing the sun rise tomorrow! The sight was chilling the trio to their very souls! The zombies that were like a huge stone before them previously were now like helpless kids ganging up on an adult–an adult swinging a freaking huge stick at that! The spider's legs were it's strongest weapons, a single jab was enough to skewer at

  • Chapter 15: Ghostface Demon Spider!

Kriiiiischh!!!!!Following an ear splitting screech both humans and zombies alike instinctively felt like their skin was about to crawl off their bodies! The next moment a red blur suddenly shot towards a zombie that was the closest to the entrance. However, the zombie was somehow able to dodge the initial attack revealing the true appearance of the blur to be a blood red rope.On closer look the blood rope looked like a web but instead of being fashioned from spider silk it seemed to be made of clotted, red blood! Furthermore, it was like it had a mind of it's own as it immediately turned around in an attempt to entangle the undead again! Roar! The zombie's already scarlet pupils turned an even darker shade of red as it roared in fury. It was the one that hunted others when did it become the hunted?! Although it didn't know what the red web thingy was it also didn't care at all! With all the strength it could mutter it tried to bite the stupid web only to fail each ti

  • I take back my words, lady luck must hate me!

“Ugh…I take back my words, lady luck must hate me!” Groaning, Dante felt a pressing urge to smack his face. It wasn't even up to a minute yet he was already eating his words! The ferocious zombies however gave him no time to even think about that as they were already rushing up the stairs. Luckily the stairs could only fit so many zombies at a time giving Dante amole time to fish out some instructions. Turning to the three girls behind him he saw that they were nearly petrified from fear, however, he couldn't be bothered with pacifying them now. “Stay behind me and ensure you move when I move, don’t do anything stupid……here, take this you might need to do a little bit of swinging later when we have strays.” Pausing he thought for a bit before stretching his hand into the air as a metal baseball bat appeared in his hand. Tossing the bat towards Amber he ignored the shock on her face as he prepared himself for the upcoming battle. Naturally there was no way you wouldn't b

  • Chapter 13 : Lady are you a banshee?!

“Crap!” For the first time in his life Dante fully experienced what it meant to face a banshee! His ears were ringing like crazy! That however wasn't the main thing. Running to the window his face turned even darker. The perverted look that was previously hanging on his face was long gone replaced by one of fear and panic. Zombies were inherently optimized with great sharp senses. A slight sound was enough to alert them into a frenzy. Just as he guessed all the zombies that were previously wandering aimlessly were now staggering in the direction of the male hostel block. Last night he was able to avoid facing a horde but looking at the situation now there was definitely no way he could avoid one. Throwing all these thoughts to the back of his mind he quickly turned towards the door only to see the lady standing there. Thankfully she had covered the exposed parts of her body. “I went to take a bath….” “There's no need for an explanation, it's my fault for leaving

  • Chapter 12: They actually get that big?

As he stared at the quest window floating in front of him Dante wished that he was dreaming. Unfortunately though this wasn't a dream. The existence of a sub-quest was actually long expected by Dante at this he wasn't surprised a bit. In his opinion there was no way the system would immediately assign him the main quest without some minor quests that would serve as stepping stones to reach the main quest. It was just like playing a video game, you had to deal with the minions before you could have a chance to fight the boss! What shocked him though was the fact that he only had a single year to complete the quest! "Hey system why is the timeline a year, there's got to be something wrong with your measurements.” Frowning he muttered to the system in his head as he looked at the still suspended interface. If he didn't remember wrongly humans were still existing after a year had passed. In fact he got killed by the D-tier zombie king five years into the apocalypse s

  • Crazy system upgrades! & First sub-quest.

Naturally the young man was none other than Dante! Contrary to his belief that he could shake off the zombie horde from the ice cream shop, the opposite happened instead. The bastards stuck to him like a bloody loach! Furthermore, the zombies even had the guts to call over more of their kind. If not for his sharp wits and admirable skills he would have met his maker! Eventually he was able to shake off the zombies but by then the sky was already getting dark. If you thought the horrors of the day weren't enough try nighttime! Unlike in the movies where zombies became slow and super inactive at night the zombies in real life proved otherwise as they instead became even more ferocious in dark. Plus the chance of encountering a mutated beast was even higher at this time since they treated night as their hunting time. There was no way Dante would willingly offer himself up for dinner–ever! There was a problem though—he had nowhere to stay. By now the apocalypse had
