Three hours later…
“Calm down, Carla!” Terry yelled, angry that she was moving all over the place in panic.
“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down! You bastard!” She yelled back at him. In the next second, she threw a bottle of alcohol straight at him.
Boom!
The bottle exploded right on the wall and Terry was able to dodge only by an inch.
“You said you got me the contract! Why can’t you do anything now? Why did they have to cancel the contract!?” Carla continued to yell.
“And I said I will sort it out!” Terry raised his voice. “But since you don’t believe me, fine! I am going to fucking leave! You can figure it out on your own.”
“Yes, get out!” Carla agreed. She hated the sight of Terry now. When the contract cancellation was announced, Carla was immensely embarrassed while Terry only stood there like a zombie and couldn't make any moves.
If it were Robin, he would have come up with a solution immediately.
And for hours, Carla sat cooped up in her office. She had her head buried in her legs and didn't know what next to do.
Minutes later, the door opened up and a lady dressed in all white walked in, with a suitcase in hand.
“Carla? Are you in there?” Cora, Carla’s best friend called out. The office was dark and since she had just arrived in the country, the first place she could think of was Carla’s office.
On the other hand, Carla raised her head and immediately saw Cora’s figure in the doorway. A surge of anger washed through her when she remembered the ring.
“You bitch!” She slowly rose to her feet. The lights came on and Cora gasped in shock, seeing how disgruntled Carla was.
“What’s wrong, Carla? I couldn't reach you since forever!” Cora rushed forward, approaching Carla to embrace her but the minute she got an inch closer to Carla…pak!
A slap resounded in the office and then another…pak!
Cora felt her head swinging both sides and she held both sides of her face in disbelief.
“What…what are you doing?” She asked, her eyes wide.
“I'm paying you back for the mean things you did to me behind my back! You claim to be my best friend, yet you fucking stabbed me in the back!” Carla spat.
“What did I do?” Confusion set for Cora. “I came back after a long while to celebrate your contract win and yet this is how you treat me?”
“Contract?” Carla sneered. “Don’t try to act clueless, Cora. You probably know that the contract has been taken away from me and here you are to gloat. Is that not so?”
“But–”
“No buts, Cora.” Carla shook her head, and for the first time, tears clouded her eyes. She felt really pained. “Get out. I don’t need you here anymore. I don’t want to see your face!”
Cora stood back, not knowing what to do. Carla had been her best friend for a long time and she couldn't stand this break-up. But she knew they couldn't have a good conversation at that moment, so she decided to leave.
However, she was determined to appease Carla no matter what.
___
The next morning...
After sleeping in an uncomfortable hotel because of Carla’s impromptu behavior, the only thing Cora wanted to do was to speak to her friend. However, the only way to do that was to appease her with the same contract she lost.
Cora had read the news of how Julls Corp denied Kia fashion the contract. Other companies had started to boycott Kia Fashion and it wasn't a good look. They all thought Kia Fashion had done something really wrong to lose the contract.
But Cora wanted to set the record straight because she knew Carla was capable. Cora knew the dynamics as she was also in the fashion business alongside Carla and she had left the country a few months before Carla’s marriage to set up her company abroad.
She wanted to avoid any form of competition with Carla. But now, she would use her company name to get the contract and get Carla to do the job!
Cora was now dressed in a business suit, looking smart and classy. She didn't look meek like last night before Carla. She was a total breath of fresh air.
Through the night, she got her assistant to work through a proposal that would be submitted and now, she was ready. She got a cab and went straight to Julls Corp and she was quickly ushered to the waiting room.
But as soon as the door opened, her body rammed into a large build, that overshadowed her.
“Ahhh…” Cora lost balance and she was ready to kiss the ground but a hand wrapped around her quickly.
At the same time, she let out a breath of relief, realizing she didn't fall but when her eyes met the person before her, she froze.
“You…” She whispered, recognizing Robin immediately.
“Hello…” Robin smiled, glad that she recognized him. Now, he wished he had seen her before he even met Carla.
But that wasn't the case for Cora.
“Let me go, please…” She frowned, pushing him away.
Her sudden hostility caught Robin off guard and he asked, “Don’t you know who I am?”
“Of course, I do.” She rolled her eyes. “You are Carla’s ex-husband.”
Those words only deflated Robin because that was the only way she remembered him.
“Even though I don’t know why you both divorced, we shouldn't be speaking to each other, should we? I wouldn't want Carla to get the wrong idea…” As soon as Cora finished speaking, she pushed past him, leaving him flabbergasted.
As the door closed, Robin stepped out of the waiting room and he realized that Carla had ruined his chances. But he wasn't going to give up. Just last night, he had unearthed a lot of information about Cora and her company and his savior seemed to be very intriguing.
He tapped the earbud in his right ear and then spoke up, “Award Cora the contract.”
On the other hand, Cora sat through the bidding process and after she presented what she had to offer, she sat on the edge of her seat nervously.
If she got the contract, it would be a stepping stone for her and Carla.
“Cora Adams…” The bidding host called out and immediately Cora shot up to her feet. “You mentioned you would be collaborating with another company to do this job.”
“May I ask if your company, Coral Springs cannot complete the job on its own?”
Cora smiled dimmed, she knew what they were driving at. But even though she was there for Carla, she couldn't put down her company.
“Yes, Coral Springs is capable of doing the job.” She nodded.
“Then we would like you to do this without any external help. If you fail to comply with this after the deal begins, you will have to adhere to penalties. Do you understand?” The host asked.
Cora became saddened. She had no interest in working solely with Julls Corp. It would seem like she had really stabbed Carla in the back.
“Can I refuse?” She blurted out, shocking everyone seated there.

“What do you say?” Robin asked, putting his hands in his pocket. He had his own motives behind his offer but then, it was all for their companies’ good. “Uhm, I will need to think about it,” Cora said. “I know this is a big contract with Julls Corp and it can catapult my company to success, but I would need to think about it. I have workers whom I care for too.”“Do you understand?” She asked. “Sure.” Robin nodded. Behind her confused face, he knew there was a lot going on too. Cora wasn't just a company owner, she was also the heiress to a wealthy family. Her family was close-knit with the Davenson family but Cora seemed to be the bad egg of the family, just like Robin. If she returned to the country, it would cause a lot of contact with her family. “Should I drive you back?” He offered. “No, I called a driver.” She turned him down as fast as possible. Robin wasn't annoyed by that but he stood back, waiting for her driver to arrive.A few minutes later, a car drove into the compa
Chairman Of Julls Corp
The stares Cora received were enough for everyone sitting there to dig into her brain. Who would dare refuse a contract with Julls Corp?!“Did you not read the memo before applying for the bid?” The host asked. “What…what memo?” Cora gasped. “If you fail to comply with the proceedings of the bid, you will either be blacklisted or made to pay a sum of…”“10 million dollars…” Cora whispered, clutching the parchment of paper which had been passed to her. “How did I not see this?” She whispered cluelessly. “So, which do you want Miss Cora?” The host asked. “That rule was put in place to prevent just anyone from applying for this bid. We believe you were capable and you read all the rules before coming here today, right?”Cora’s words were stuck in her throat. She was at fault as she never even dug deeper into Julls Corp before applying. Now, she was stuck. “Miss Cora, would you like to proceed or not?” They asked. “Yes, let’s proceed…” Cora nodded. Being blacklisted was something sh

Canceled Contract
“What did you just say?” Robin asked, his voice deep and demanding. His eyes dimmed as well and Carla felt his aura was overbearing however, she kept glaring at him. “What do you mean by what did I just say? Haven't you been listening to me? Do you need to go to the ear doctor–”“Answer me! Damn it!” He cut her off angrily and couldn't let her keep talking off-topic. He just wanted her to repeat what she said earlier, so it wouldn't be like he misheard.“Who does that ring belong to?” He asked. She rolled her eyes mockingly, “Don’t you know who you gave the ring, huh?” “I am not joking with you here, Carla!” He warned, his eyes were cold and deadly, and never in Carla’s life had she seen Robin that threatening. She took a step back, her mouth opening and closing because of how scared she was. “It belongs to Cora. You gave it to her, didn't you?”“I see…” Robin let out, with a light scoff and then a mocking sneer before sitting back on his chair slowly. His head was downturned as h
Impersonating The Chairman
Thirty minutes later…Robin reached the signing event venue and his car stopped right on the red carpet. Immediately, all eyes were on the car, wondering who owned such a luxurious ride. Almost everyone there wanted to see who the leader of Julls Corp was and speculations were going around. However, when Robin got out of the car, the guests frowned in confusion. They had never seen him before. He looked sophisticated and elegant but they couldn't associate his face with any big family in the city. But then Robin didn't mind their gaze, he was escorted straight into the venue and ushered to the front side of the venue. A large table was assigned to the officials of Julls Corp and also Carla Kia who would be signing a contract with them.Robin wasn't fazed about seeing his ex-wife who betrayed him. To him, everything was just business and profits now so, he sat down, took a light snack, and started to eat before the event started officially. On the other hand, at the entrance, the g
Robin Is The Mayor’s God
The mayor was in turmoil, seeing Robin leave. After a long time, he finally saw Robin again and he couldn't let him go. He immediately shot a warning glance at old man Roy. Roy got the memo and quickly he rushed out, going past Robin, “I will leave instead, Master Robin.” He bowed a bit before finding his way out of the building. Robin stopped in his tracks, and the mayor rushed forward, bowing his head too. “I apologize again, Mr. Davenson.” He said. “Good. Don’t cross your boundaries next time.” Robin said before letting the mayor usher him into the office. They sat in the sitting area where the mayor immediately ordered refreshments, wanting to make Robin comfortable. “So, what have you come here to do? It’s an honor to grace us with your presence...”“Haha…” Robin laughed, amused. “You didn't even know I have been in your city for three years now, do you? I commend my conservation skills then.”“Really?” the mayor was blown away. Once again, he had a new level of respect for
Debt Of Blood
Thirty minutes later…Robin sat calmly, wedged between the two burly police officers and they kept glaring at him. “Wait until you get to the police cell! You will cry and beg for days and no one will let you out!” “You can’t beg now, you will beg later!”Apparently, Robin’s nonchalant and prideful attitude irked them so much as they were so used to trampling on powerless citizens but with Robin, it was different. Even with their threats, Robin never heeded them and he kept counting in his mind… 1, 2, 3...“Stop!” One of the police officers shouted at the driver suddenly. The driver stepped on the brakes making the car come to a sudden halt in the middle of the road. They looked out of the window to see a convoy going past them. “Isn’t that the mayor’s convoy?” They asked, a little bit jittery. As they spoke, the car the mayor was in came to a sudden halt beside them. The road was completely blocked off now and the police officers who never dreamed of seeing the mayor in their en
Weight Of Betrayal
“Take him away!” Carla ordered, shocked that Robin was trying to act like he called the shots. Robin had always had a prideful attitude that irked her so much, even though he was just a poor rat. Now, she wanted to see how he would continue being proud behind bars. She watched the police officers drag Robin out even after the warning he gave them. Carla now felt she was in power and nothing could stop her, and it was all due to Terry. Speaking of Terry, she looked down at him again, shaking him awake. “Are you okay?” She asked as he opened his eyes slowly. Terry was disoriented and dizzy at first but then when he realized he lay in Carla’s arms in the middle of a mess, he shot up. “Where is that bastard? I will teach him a lesson!” He barked, trying to look strong even though his head and jaw were ringing in pain. He didn't want to look less before Carla and Madam Kia. It was already shameful enough that he took a hit. “Don’t worry. We have taught him a lesson on your behalf.”
Amusement After Divorce
“Terry?” Robin chuckled, recognizing the chaotic figure who just walked in. Terry was chaotic in character as well as in his outfit, sporting a red suit and a black shirt, he looked like he was going for a circus. “Surprised to see me?” Terry grinned, his eyes shining with mischief. “I have heard a lot about you, Robin. Isn’t it a privilege you got to see me today?”Of course, Terry was a well-known figure from a prominent family. He was a typical third-generation rich heir. However, before Robin, he was nothing to write home about. He looked classless and not only that, news of his escapades was all over town. “Is this who you want to leave me for, Carla?” Robin chuckled, already figuring out the situation. Suddenly, the divorce didn't hurt anymore, as it had turned into an amusement for Robin. “What about him?” Carla stood up, sporting a proud look. “He is a womanizer, Carla. He is a scum who treats women worthlessly.” Robin didn't even care that Terry was standing right there
