“What did you just say?” Robin asked, his voice deep and demanding. His eyes dimmed as well and Carla felt his aura was overbearing however, she kept glaring at him.

“What do you mean by what did I just say? Haven't you been listening to me? Do you need to go to the ear doctor–”

“Answer me! Damn it!” He cut her off angrily and couldn't let her keep talking off-topic. He just wanted her to repeat what she said earlier, so it wouldn't be like he misheard.

“Who does that ring belong to?” He asked.

She rolled her eyes mockingly, “Don’t you know who you gave the ring, huh?”

“I am not joking with you here, Carla!” He warned, his eyes were cold and deadly, and never in Carla’s life had she seen Robin that threatening.

She took a step back, her mouth opening and closing because of how scared she was. “It belongs to Cora. You gave it to her, didn't you?”

“I see…” Robin let out, with a light scoff and then a mocking sneer before sitting back on his chair slowly. His head was downturned as he couldn't begin to fathom what went wrong. But he was hurt.

On the other hand, Carla didn't back down, “It’s good that you decided to leave the ring behind. Otherwise, how would I know that you cheated on me?”

“You deserve all the bad things that happened to you during our marriage! And as for that bitch, your mistress! I am going to fucking kill her!”

“I never cheated on you, Carla.” Robin let out, his face blank. “Instead, I cheated on Cora, your best friend, with you.”

“What…?” Carla gasped. “You have the audacity to say that to me? After cheating!?”

Robin wanted to say it to her face, that if he had known, he would never have married her. She would have never been able to smell him from a meter away. She would never have been in the same bed with him for years.

He should have known that the cocky and ambitious Carla wasn't the woman he met that night.

But it was too late now, he didn't think he could turn around the hands of time. At the same time, her best friend Cora, whom he had never met aside that night, might never come back to the country.

At this point, Robin decided to leave. He couldn't continue to look Carla in the face.

As soon as he stood up, Carla stood before him, head-on.

“Where are you going?” She asked. “The security will be here soon to throw you the fuck out! Are you ashamed now?”

“I am not leaving because the security is coming. I am leaving because I can’t stand your twisted and ugly expression.” He sneered.

“Now that I look back, we never really had any form of connection between us. It’s finally the end between us, Carla.” Robin declared. He never wanted to see her face again, as a seething hatred shone from his eyes.

And so, he pushed her to the side and walked past her. Carla watched him leave but his words kept ringing in her ears. Even when they signed the divorce papers, Robin never looked this averse toward her. What changed?

Somehow, she felt so uneasy.

Also, the security was already fast approaching and as soon as they saw Robin, they halted. They didn't dare step closer to him because he looked intimidating and also, they recognized him.

They bowed, letting him leave and this caused the guests as well as Carla to stand back in shock. They all rallied around Carla, asking who Robin was but she had no words.

She was also clueless and now, for the first time, she thought deeply about everything. How Robin carried himself. His help over the years and how he had claimed he got her the contract.

What if it was all true? What if she had thrown away the gem for the dirtstone?

At the same time, Terry walked into the hall, looking as flashy as ever. He had women crowded around him already and when he approached Carla, she suddenly felt disgust toward him.

He paled in great comparison against the elegant and sophisticated Robin. Deep down, she started to regret it.

On the other hand, Robin whipped out his phone as soon as he got back into his car. He made a call to his assistant and in two rings, the call was connected.

“Boss, why did you leave? The event is about to begin.”

“Stop the process,” Robin ordered.

“What do you mean?” The assistant asked.

“Cancel the event and cancel the contract! Tomorrow, prepare a bidding event for the contract! Any other company with the best proposal will be awarded, got it?”

“Yes, boss.”

The call was disconnected and as Robin drove away from the venue, he heard his assistant voice from the loudspeakers stationed around.

“Julls Corp apologizes for any inconvenience. The signing event has been canceled and the contract will no longer be awarded to Kia Fashion.”

“Further information will be communicated soon.”

Robin could imagine the look of embarrassment and shock on Carla’s face. He knew how violent she could get when she didn't get something. Now, he wondered how she was going to beg Terry to help her again.

But this time around, she would never get help. She wasn't the woman Robin wanted in the first place, and also, she wasn't grateful for the opportunities he gave her. So, she didn't deserve anything.

  • Broken And Dejected

Cora felt a pang of pain in her heart. However, she couldn't blame herself for just trying to show love. She had been damaged and bruised by Carla’s betrayal and her taunting words. In the next second, she staggered, her body almost falling back, but Robin caught her from behind. Her body was weak and frail, so he quickly carried her to the couch while he faced Carla. “Why…” Carla gritted her teeth, her nose and the lines on her forehead scrunching in disgust. “Why would you like that pretentious bitch? She is nothing like the capable woman you need by your side!”“Do you want someone who would always drag you down?” “That’s none of your business…” Robin shrugged. "But speaking of capable women. Are you really one?" He sneered, his eyes staring down at her mockingly.Carla felt his mockery deep within her bones. She had craved for his acceptance, wanted him all to herself after she realized her mistake, but Cora had to come in and destroy all that she had built.“I bet she doesn't

  • Confrontation 2

Cora was seething, hated the way Carla ignored her while she was still carrying the baggage of being locked up for days. And when she sat by Robin’s side, she lost it. Deep down in her heart, she hated the sight of them together. “Get off him! You bitch!” Cora yelled, and her hands flew straight at Carla, and in the next second, she hurled her off Robin’s side. The strength that rippled through her was like never before and swiftly, she threw Carla in the middle of the room, her back crashing into the glass table there. Cora breathed heavily, her chest heaving while she stared down at Carla who had her head dripping with blood. “Cora…” Carla was in shock, and coupled with the pain from her injured hand and leg, she felt so dizzy as if she was about to pass out. “Robin…” She cried, with shaky voice and tears streaming down her face. “Are you going to let her do this to me? Everything being said on the news is a lie! You saved me, right? You should believe me…”She rushed up to he

  • Confrontation

Two hours later…“We have her.” Mason walked into Robin’s luxurious home. He sat on the couch, his leg crossed over the other. “She has been transported to the guesthouse.” “Good.” Robin dropped the magazine in his hands. He had taken two days off work to concentrate on bringing Carla down the drain and he was doing it bit by bit. Breaking her wasn't enough for what she did to Cora. The so-called Chairman Wells who put a call across to her was all a facade. He did it all by himself and Carla had fallen directly into their trap. He walked up the stairs and reached his bedroom where Cora had been recuperating. As he walked in, she was already up on the bed, with a meek look on her face. She looked lost, as if she had been thrown into a deep abyss. There was a pale red mark on her face, though it was fading already, it was evidence of what she had gone through. “You are awake…” He got a glass of water from the jug by the bed and passed it to her. She took it, her hands shakily brou

  • Walk Of Humiliation

Carla froze, her hands moving to her face and her hair flailed by her sides to cover her face from everyone. But they had already seen her, as they all took up their phones to record her. “Shit…” She cursed as she quickly fished for her phone. At the same time, she rushed toward the elevators to quickly get to Terry’s office. However, the doors were locked, and nothing was working. “Terry, you bastard!” She cried. She never thought the news would blow up this much. It had just been a short while since the police raided her company building and now it was all over the news channels. She felt Chairman Wells was targeting her for no reason. It was against the code of conduct for their business!“Terry…pick up.” She dialed his phone over and over again and when he finally connected the call, she breathed a sigh of relief. “Where are you?” She barked into the phone. “I am right here…” He replied, his tone lazy as if fire had not been put under their bosom. “I saw you run into the compa

  • Former Promising Entrepreneur

“Hello, Chairman Wells.” Carla beamed as soon as she connected the call. Chairman Wells was her biggest guest at the business she now ran. “I know you received Cora well last night.”“Yes, I did. I got a little surprise too.” He replied, his voice calm on the phone and Carla didn't notice the shift in it.“Good.” She chuckled. “I am glad you liked it.” “Did you see the girl I sent you last night? How well do you like her?” She asked, referring to Daina whom she had sent to. “That’s a gift from me to you, on our continuous collaboration.”“You sent a gift?” “Yes.” Carla nodded. “Don’t worry. You can return her anytime you wish.”“I sent a gift to you too, Carla. I hope you enjoy it.”“What gift—”Beep! The call ended and she was left staring at her phone, her eyebrows furrowing. She felt something was quite off but she couldn't place it. And suddenly, the company’s intercom buzzed. At first, she ignored it but when it continued buzzing, she had to pick it up. “Boss..” Her assistan

  • Nowhere To Run To

Several hours had passed and right now, Chairman Wells was in the middle of a meeting with potential business partners. “Are you sure you can do what I ask?” He asked, his deep gaze sweeping through the room. “We are going against the prime minister and the board here, we can’t make any mistakes.”“Of course, we can. As long as our company doesn't go down. We will do whatever you want.” They replied. “Good.” Chairman Wells nodded. “I have laid the groundwork for you. I expect you to claim the Adams family wealth. I want something they have. Something they mustn't know they have.”“As you wish.” The business partners were more than eager to do whatever Chairman Wells said. After all, this was their chance to get their company back up again. Ever since James Westminster declared war on the Davenson family, all because of the bastard son Robin, all their investors and partners pulled out, claiming they didn't want the wrath of the board and the prime minister on them. They were all n
