“What is the meaning of this, Carla?” Angry Robin Davenson stalked into a high-end office, with a lit-up phone in hand. He threw the phone directly on the desk, before his wife.

“Kissing someone? Why are you jittery?” Carla shrugged, not even picking up the phone. She had already seen the picture on it. She then relaxed in her chair with a nonchalant expression.

“I am your husband, Carla! You kissed someone, right at a party and it is on all blogs! Don’t you owe me an explanation?” Robin frowned, even harder, appalled by her attitude.

“I see no reason why I should explain to you, Robin. You are the one who went snooping around on blogs and that is why you came across that picture.” She shrugged again.

“You shouldn't blame me.”

“Carla, we are married, that’s cheating–”

“Oh please!” She cut him off, raising her hand in the air. This time, her nonchalance was gone, replaced by a displeased look.

“Cheating?” She stood up, eyeing Robin from head to toe. “We are married, yes but do you act like my husband? Are you even worthy of being one?”

“Since you are so worked up about some ordinary kiss, I should relieve you of your duties.” She picked up a piece of document right off her desk and threw it straight at Robin.

“Sign that. I am divorcing you, Robin.” She ordered.

“You are joking, right?” Robin asked, shocked and watching the document fall back to the table.

“No, Robin. I prepared this a long time ago. It’s time I got rid of you.” She shook her head, with a mocking expression.

Robin’s face went blank, wondering what to think of this. The divorce had come so shockingly for him even though all he wanted to do was get the truth about the picture.

If she had at least explained that the picture was doctored, he would believe her because he held her in high esteem in his heart. But now, watching her being nonchalant alongside the divorce papers told him, Carla wasn't what he thought she was.

“Are you sure about this?” That was all Robin could ask. He wasn't about to beg her to let him stay. He just needed to remind her all that she would throw away if she divorced him.

In his mind, she needed to rethink.

“We have been through a lot together, Carla. We have spent three years together and I have helped you in any way I can to bring your company to this level.”

“You wouldn't throw all this away, right?”

“Robin…” She called his name so sweetly, with her eyes twinkling. For a split second, Robin thought she finally came to her senses but in the next second…

“Haha…” Carla burst into a peal of mocking laughter. Her belly rumbled and she fell back on her chair, shaking. “You have no shame. You are saying all that motivational speech so I could let you stay?”

“What did you do, huh? You did absolutely nothing for me!” She banged her fist on the table, stamping her words.

“Your acclaimed sleepless nights were nothing I couldn't pay for if you had asked. It’s not my fault you decided to slave away for me…” Her smile turned into a wicked grin as she dipped her hand into her drawer.

“But you see this…” She swung a couple of documents in his face. “This is a contract with Julls Corps, a company owned by the most powerful family in this city.”

“I am going to rise to the top soon, and you stand here, telling me you helped me get this far? What a joke! Did you get this contract for me?” She barked.

“Are you seriously saying that?” Robin asked, shocked at his wife’s rude attitude. One he had never seen before. And then a questionable gaze appeared in his eyes, “You don’t even know who got that contract for you–”

“All I know is that it’s not you, Robin! Quit questioning me and sign the papers!” She yelled, cutting him off.

Carla started to breathe heavily, staring at Robin with mockery and disdain. She wondered how she was able to marry such a spineless man.

On the other hand, Robin let out a low chuckle, “So, this is how you want to pay me back, huh?”

“What more do you need?” Carla sneered. “I clothed you, fed you, and housed you for years. Having me as a wife is a blessing you shouldn't have had. Isn’t that enough for the sleepless nights you had toiling over me?”

“Do you want more so you can prove your golddigger status?”

Robin stood there, low-key laughing about being called a gold digger. Her insults didn't get to him at all, after all, he wasn't a slave like she claimed. But he was hurt that a wife he cared for could turn out like this.

He looked at the divorce papers, wondering whether to sign it or not. After all, if he wanted to keep her, he would. But on the other hand, she wasn't worth it.

“Is he still here?” A familiar and condescending voice rang inside the office and Robin saw Carla’s mother walking in.

“I hope you didn't demand anything from my daughter. If you had some conscience, you wouldn't live with her for three years, hindering her from opportunities because she had a weak husband who couldn't provide for her.”

“Now, she is shining at the moment she decided to divorce you, isn't that good? You wouldn't be a killjoy, would you?” She sneered.

“Of course not, Madam Kia.” Robin decided. “Your daughter is no longer my wife, from now on.” He smiled, still not fazed by the insults. He realized both mother and daughter were nothing to write home about.

His calmness ticked them the wrong way but then they realized they had finally gotten what they wanted as Robin bent down to sign the papers.

However, the door opened up and a chaotic figure walked in, shocking Robin. He stood still, as the figure walked straight to him.

“What do you say?” Robin asked, putting his hands in his pocket. He had his own motives behind his offer but then, it was all for their companies’ good. “Uhm, I will need to think about it,” Cora said. “I know this is a big contract with Julls Corp and it can catapult my company to success, but I would need to think about it. I have workers whom I care for too.”“Do you understand?” She asked. “Sure.” Robin nodded. Behind her confused face, he knew there was a lot going on too. Cora wasn't just a company owner, she was also the heiress to a wealthy family. Her family was close-knit with the Davenson family but Cora seemed to be the bad egg of the family, just like Robin. If she returned to the country, it would cause a lot of contact with her family. “Should I drive you back?” He offered. “No, I called a driver.” She turned him down as fast as possible. Robin wasn't annoyed by that but he stood back, waiting for her driver to arrive.A few minutes later, a car drove into the compa

  • Chairman Of Julls Corp

The stares Cora received were enough for everyone sitting there to dig into her brain. Who would dare refuse a contract with Julls Corp?!“Did you not read the memo before applying for the bid?” The host asked. “What…what memo?” Cora gasped. “If you fail to comply with the proceedings of the bid, you will either be blacklisted or made to pay a sum of…”“10 million dollars…” Cora whispered, clutching the parchment of paper which had been passed to her. “How did I not see this?” She whispered cluelessly. “So, which do you want Miss Cora?” The host asked. “That rule was put in place to prevent just anyone from applying for this bid. We believe you were capable and you read all the rules before coming here today, right?”Cora’s words were stuck in her throat. She was at fault as she never even dug deeper into Julls Corp before applying. Now, she was stuck. “Miss Cora, would you like to proceed or not?” They asked. “Yes, let’s proceed…” Cora nodded. Being blacklisted was something sh

  • Can I Refuse?

Three hours later…“Calm down, Carla!” Terry yelled, angry that she was moving all over the place in panic. “Don’t fucking tell me to calm down! You bastard!” She yelled back at him. In the next second, she threw a bottle of alcohol straight at him. Boom! The bottle exploded right on the wall and Terry was able to dodge only by an inch. “You said you got me the contract! Why can’t you do anything now? Why did they have to cancel the contract!?” Carla continued to yell. “And I said I will sort it out!” Terry raised his voice. “But since you don’t believe me, fine! I am going to fucking leave! You can figure it out on your own.”“Yes, get out!” Carla agreed. She hated the sight of Terry now. When the contract cancellation was announced, Carla was immensely embarrassed while Terry only stood there like a zombie and couldn't make any moves. If it were Robin, he would have come up with a solution immediately. And for hours, Carla sat cooped up in her office. She had her head buried i

  • Canceled Contract

“What did you just say?” Robin asked, his voice deep and demanding. His eyes dimmed as well and Carla felt his aura was overbearing however, she kept glaring at him. “What do you mean by what did I just say? Haven't you been listening to me? Do you need to go to the ear doctor–”“Answer me! Damn it!” He cut her off angrily and couldn't let her keep talking off-topic. He just wanted her to repeat what she said earlier, so it wouldn't be like he misheard.“Who does that ring belong to?” He asked. She rolled her eyes mockingly, “Don’t you know who you gave the ring, huh?” “I am not joking with you here, Carla!” He warned, his eyes were cold and deadly, and never in Carla’s life had she seen Robin that threatening. She took a step back, her mouth opening and closing because of how scared she was. “It belongs to Cora. You gave it to her, didn't you?”“I see…” Robin let out, with a light scoff and then a mocking sneer before sitting back on his chair slowly. His head was downturned as h

  • Impersonating The Chairman

Thirty minutes later…Robin reached the signing event venue and his car stopped right on the red carpet. Immediately, all eyes were on the car, wondering who owned such a luxurious ride. Almost everyone there wanted to see who the leader of Julls Corp was and speculations were going around. However, when Robin got out of the car, the guests frowned in confusion. They had never seen him before. He looked sophisticated and elegant but they couldn't associate his face with any big family in the city. But then Robin didn't mind their gaze, he was escorted straight into the venue and ushered to the front side of the venue. A large table was assigned to the officials of Julls Corp and also Carla Kia who would be signing a contract with them.Robin wasn't fazed about seeing his ex-wife who betrayed him. To him, everything was just business and profits now so, he sat down, took a light snack, and started to eat before the event started officially. On the other hand, at the entrance, the g

  • Robin Is The Mayor’s God

The mayor was in turmoil, seeing Robin leave. After a long time, he finally saw Robin again and he couldn't let him go. He immediately shot a warning glance at old man Roy. Roy got the memo and quickly he rushed out, going past Robin, “I will leave instead, Master Robin.” He bowed a bit before finding his way out of the building. Robin stopped in his tracks, and the mayor rushed forward, bowing his head too. “I apologize again, Mr. Davenson.” He said. “Good. Don’t cross your boundaries next time.” Robin said before letting the mayor usher him into the office. They sat in the sitting area where the mayor immediately ordered refreshments, wanting to make Robin comfortable. “So, what have you come here to do? It’s an honor to grace us with your presence...”“Haha…” Robin laughed, amused. “You didn't even know I have been in your city for three years now, do you? I commend my conservation skills then.”“Really?” the mayor was blown away. Once again, he had a new level of respect for

  • Debt Of Blood

Thirty minutes later…Robin sat calmly, wedged between the two burly police officers and they kept glaring at him. “Wait until you get to the police cell! You will cry and beg for days and no one will let you out!” “You can’t beg now, you will beg later!”Apparently, Robin’s nonchalant and prideful attitude irked them so much as they were so used to trampling on powerless citizens but with Robin, it was different. Even with their threats, Robin never heeded them and he kept counting in his mind… 1, 2, 3...“Stop!” One of the police officers shouted at the driver suddenly. The driver stepped on the brakes making the car come to a sudden halt in the middle of the road. They looked out of the window to see a convoy going past them. “Isn’t that the mayor’s convoy?” They asked, a little bit jittery. As they spoke, the car the mayor was in came to a sudden halt beside them. The road was completely blocked off now and the police officers who never dreamed of seeing the mayor in their en

  • Weight Of Betrayal

“Take him away!” Carla ordered, shocked that Robin was trying to act like he called the shots. Robin had always had a prideful attitude that irked her so much, even though he was just a poor rat. Now, she wanted to see how he would continue being proud behind bars. She watched the police officers drag Robin out even after the warning he gave them. Carla now felt she was in power and nothing could stop her, and it was all due to Terry. Speaking of Terry, she looked down at him again, shaking him awake. “Are you okay?” She asked as he opened his eyes slowly. Terry was disoriented and dizzy at first but then when he realized he lay in Carla’s arms in the middle of a mess, he shot up. “Where is that bastard? I will teach him a lesson!” He barked, trying to look strong even though his head and jaw were ringing in pain. He didn't want to look less before Carla and Madam Kia. It was already shameful enough that he took a hit. “Don’t worry. We have taught him a lesson on your behalf.”

  • Amusement After Divorce

“Terry?” Robin chuckled, recognizing the chaotic figure who just walked in. Terry was chaotic in character as well as in his outfit, sporting a red suit and a black shirt, he looked like he was going for a circus. “Surprised to see me?” Terry grinned, his eyes shining with mischief. “I have heard a lot about you, Robin. Isn’t it a privilege you got to see me today?”Of course, Terry was a well-known figure from a prominent family. He was a typical third-generation rich heir. However, before Robin, he was nothing to write home about. He looked classless and not only that, news of his escapades was all over town. “Is this who you want to leave me for, Carla?” Robin chuckled, already figuring out the situation. Suddenly, the divorce didn't hurt anymore, as it had turned into an amusement for Robin. “What about him?” Carla stood up, sporting a proud look. “He is a womanizer, Carla. He is a scum who treats women worthlessly.” Robin didn't even care that Terry was standing right there
