"Adam, that was reckless! Betting against Mr. Gregory is practically a guaranteed loss," Tessa fumed as they entered the room.

A wry smile played on Adam’s lips. "Tessa, why can’t you trust me just this once?"

"I want to trust you, but you have to give me a reason," Tessa replied, her voice laced with frustration.

Adam’s confidence didn’t waver. "I can’t explain it now. Just trust me—you’ll see tomorrow," he said with a reassuring smile.

Despite his assurance, Tessa remained uneasy. Unable to sleep, she decided to clear her head with a walk in the yard.

"Mrs. Tessa, why are you still awake?" a voice called out from behind her.

Startled, Tessa turned to see Adrian approaching. "Adrian? You’re still here?"

"Your family insisted I stay the night. I couldn’t refuse," Adrian said with a smug grin.

"Mr. Gregory," Tessa began tentatively, "about the bet my husband made with you—could you treat it as a joke? Please?"

He clutched his gut, trembling.“W-What the hell—?” he stuttered, before dropping to his knees beside Stanley and retching as well, choking on his own spit.Ava stood over them, her heels clicking sharply as she stepped back. Her eyes were blazing with fury, her expression tight with disgust.“You disgusting pieces of garbage,” she said, voice trembling with rage. “You thought you could drug me? Adam stood by the grand window of the Langston Mansion’s sitting room, arms folded, eyes focused on the blackening sky beyond the glass. Something felt off. The way Albert spoke. The tone of Stanley’s so-called "interest." The deal itself. Fifty million? Overnight? With Ava having no active control of Langtech? It didn’t make sense. Adam’s senses had long surpassed those of an ordinary man. His hearing, his instincts—razor-sharp. And from the moment that call ended, something inside him stirred. Like blood before a storm. He turned slowly, watching Ava as she applied light makeup before the hallway mirror. Her hands trembled slightly, though her face was composed. “Miss Ava,” he said at last, his voice calm but direct. “You’re not so naïve to believe someone would hand over that kind of partnership… to someone stripped of any real power. Are you?” She froze. The room was quiet for a beat too long. Then, without turning around, Ava snapped, “Just shut up and get the car read

Nothing. Just quiet support. A shadow to her grief. He took a slow sip of the tea, watching her with a heaviness in his eyes. It’s been days, he thought. And she still hasn’t come back to herself. The silence was unbearable, yet he dared not

Christie’s gaze turned cold, her eyes narrowing as she slowly raised her hand and pointed at Ava, trembling with indignation."How dare you!"Ava however spoke back pointing back at her. “You have no right to speak to me that way,” she said, voice laced with venom. “You're not even a real Langston by blood.”Christie stabbed her finger toward herself. “I married into this family, bore its name, defended its legacy, and I’ll be laid to rest in the Langston ancestral hall. What about you, Ava?”Christie’s voice climbed with each word, her fury palpable. “You're a woman. One day you'll marry, take another man’s name, and birth children who don't even belong to this family. You think you can lead us?”“I don’t care what you say!” Ava shouted, stepping forward, fire burning in her eyes. “Langtech was my
