“Boss, what’s so funny?” one of the men asked, glancing sideways at Hagon, his voice laced with suspicion.

Hagon’s grin widened, his teeth gleaming beneath the flickering warehouse light. “Just got off the phone with the Phoenix King.”

The room went still.

“He gave the green light,” Hagon continued, his voice soaked in glee. “He said we can do whatever we want with these two… then report back to base.”

A ripple of wicked excitement spread through the room.

“No way... seriously?”

“That’s the best damn news I’ve heard all week!”

“You pick first, boss!”

The masked men whooped and clapped, their self-restraint completely unraveling. They stared hungrily at the two women like hyenas circling fresh meat.

Tessa and Nyra sat frozen in their chairs, duct tape still clamped across their lips, blindfolds damp from the sweat and tears soaking into the fabric. Their shoulders trembled, fingers twitching helplessly at the ropes binding them.

Hagon took a slow, deliberate step toward Tessa. His shad

“The original price? Don’t tell me it’s two hundred million dollars.” Trent’s lips curled into a smirk, thick with sarcasm. His eyes flicked between Adam and Ese like he was watching a low-budget drama. “You two really rehearsed this well. What’s next? A receipt signed by the Queen?”Ese didn’t even flinch. Her smile was cool, her tone ice. “You think I’m acting?”With deliberate grace, she stepped forward, pulled a document from her clutch, and held it out. “Here. The transaction list from Bulldog Grand's Auction House. This is the record of when I purchased that bottle. See for yourself.”Her voice was calm, but it cut like a blade. The paper snapped crisply as she unfolded it and presented it to Trent with the poise of someone who knew they held the winning hand.Trent glanced at the list, barely sparing it a second before scoffing. “You people are really something. Had this printed at the corner shop, did you?” He tossed the paper a smug look. “To someone who didn’t know better, t

Ese arrived swiftly, heels clicking like a gavel on marble as the entire room seemed to tense in her presence. The tall woman in the sleek black suit walked with the aura of someone used to commanding attention, her expression unreadable, yet undeniably cold."Mr. Manchester," she said curtly, handing Adam a sleek leather folder. "As requested, I’ve brought the certified transaction record from the private auction. The wine in question—Lot #1173—was sold for exactly two hundred million dollars."Gasps echoed throughout the room. Even the air felt heavier.Adam didn’t even glance at the folder. Instead, he calmly pointed toward Trent with a faint smirk. "This wine was originally yours, Ese. If anyone owes you compensation... it’s him. And conveniently, he promised to pay ten times the price if proof was provided."Ese's gaze slowly turned toward Trent, her eyes gleaming like ice under a spotlight. She walked forward, deliberate and silent, until she stood directly in front of him. "So.

“What kind of trash wine was that?” Belinda scoffed, her voice laced with disbelief and mockery. She crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair, sneering at Adam. “Two hundred million dollars? Are you insane? I’ve never heard of wine being that expensive in my entire life.”Brielle jumped in immediately, eager to pile on. “Exactly! The most expensive wines in the world—those vintage collector bottles—might sell for a few million at an auction. And even those are from historic estates. Your wine? Please. It’s not even worth a hundred bucks.”She tossed her hair and gave Adam a pitying look, as if speaking to a delusional fool.“Eighty dollars tops,” she continued, lips curled in disdain. “Mr. Iron is already humiliating himself by offering you two hundred grand. You should be grateful. Don’t be so greedy.”Their words crashed against Adam like pebbles thrown at a mountain. But yet he remained calm and controlled. But Tessa couldn’t hold it in anymore. Her voice cut through the risin

Seizing the moment like a predator circling its prey, Trent stepped in, smugness oozing from every pore. His voice was smooth but laced with poison.“I’ll end this little circus for you, Adam. Just tell me—how much is your so-called wine worth again?” he asked, tilting his head arrogantly. “I’ll compensate you ten times over. Consider anything extra a tip. A charity handout.”The room filled with hushed snickers.Adam’s smile sharpened at the edges, his tone easy, yet each word cut like a blade. “My wine’s not cheap. You sure you’re ready to pay ten times the price?”“I always keep my word,” Trent declared, chest puffed, full of pride and empty promises. From across the table, Tessa’s patience snapped like a brittle twig. “Adam, enough already!” Her voice trembled—not with fear, but frustration. “Just stop embarrassing us. This… this isn’t worth it.”Her cheeks burned. She couldn’t even look at Gerald, let alone her cousin Brielle, who was already sneering in satisfaction.Adam’s gaze

Belinda crossed her arms, eyes flicking to Adam with a smirk curling on her heavily painted lips. "Lower-class people will always think small," she said with dripping sarcasm. "So petty. You’re really out here asking for compensation for that bottle of trash wine? The meal alone could buy you a crate of whatever swill you brought."Laughter rippled through the group."Exactly," Brielle chimed in, her voice laced with scorn. "How thick-skinned do you have to be to demand money in front of everyone like this? You brought embarrassment to the table, and now you want a reward for it?"Adam’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes darkened a shade. He didn’t move, nor reacted, just stared at her like he was seeing straight through the glittery armor she wore.Even Eleanor slammed her wine glass down, red liquid sloshing against the sides. "Adam, shut up already! Haven’t you embarrassed us enough tonight?"Her tone cut sharper than the wine, and it was clear her patience had dried up.Tessa

Belinda burst into laughter, her voice sharp like glass shattering in a quiet room. The others joined in, their smirks laced with mockery, their eyes dripping contempt.Trent reached for the bottle of Obsidian Noir, his fingers deliberately slow, theatrical. “Well, well,” he drawled, lifting it up for everyone to see. “This trash wine isn’t entirely useless after all. Someone’s been stinking up the air with their presence—might as well use this to disinfect the place.”Snickers followed. He popped the cork.Pffffft.A soft hiss escaped as the seal broke, and instantly, a wave of aroma drifted into the room. Rich. Earthy. Complex. The scent danced through the air, subtle yet undeniable. For a second, the laughter faltered.Trent blinked. The scent caught him off guard. “Huh...” he muttered under his breath. But pride wouldn’t let him pause. His ego was already too far ahead. With a smug look, he flipped the bottle upside down, and the deep, slightly cloudy liquid spilled onto the floor
