Chapter 4

Back in the prison

Andre quietly found a spot to sit down. He ignored the persistent tantrums of the prisoners which was being thrown at him.

Not long after he was settled, the bell rang which signified dinner. The inmates all rushed out leaving behind, Andre, an old man, and a monstrous-looking thug.

Andre sensed a foul in the air but went out of the cell. As soon as he left, the monstrous-looking thug approached the old man, shoving a knife out of his pocket. He twirled the knife in the air and strode in a slow motion.

This monstrous man was given an assignment by the boss in the cell to kill him, the boss's reason was that the man was too old and he snored loudly whenever he was asleep.

His persistent snoring had caused him many sleepless nights which he could no longer withhold.

As the monstrous thug tried to stab the man because the man was asleep, a full force slapped the knife away from the thug’s hands, and he shrieked.

When he turned to behold Andre, a distasteful sneer tugged at the corner of his lips. He suddenly picked up the knife and tried to fight Andre, if possible to eliminate him.

Moreover, he was awaiting a death sentence.

Andre fought so hard and was able to defeat the monstrous thug. The thug had no choice but to run out.

Andre whirled to see the old man still snoring and sleeping. He was even sound asleep, totally oblivious to the danger that could have cost him his life.

Andre walked away from the old man, he knew he was the next target for the big bully in the cell.

A few hours after every inmate had settled, Andre could feel the effect of their glares boring into his skin. So he was super conscious and refused to shut his eyes.

Not long after, Andre was overpowered and almost beaten to a stupor when the sudden voice of the warden that pierced through the cell disrupted the evil’s intentions.

“Old cargo, come out!” The warden barked.

Each of the inmates' eyes darted to the old man who was still sleeping and snoring loudly. The leader of the inmates flicked his fingers and two among the inmates rushed to the old man and kicked him so hard in the head which jolted the man from his deep slumber.

They all jeered at the man's sudden display.

“Your bailing is today, come out of the cell.” The warden's harsh voice resounded in the cell.

The old man struggled to his feet but fell each time, Andre had no choice but to rush towards him and volunteered to help him up.

He aided the old man towards the door, and as the man left the cell, he snuck some stuff into Andre’s hands and muttered some Inaudible words.

“Congratulations!” The old man said before being led away.

Andre immediately opened his palms to check the stuff, a jade ring. Andre furrowed his brows as he perused the ring.

“All hell would lose on you since our prey is gone. You’re the next target, just watch out.” Andre heard a rigid voice behind him. It was coming from those thugs who had teamed up to beat him earlier.

Andre slid his fingers into the ring, and it was fitted.

“Come and lick my feet, dog!” One among the thugs who Andre presumed to be the boss ordered and Andre pretended as if he never heard him and returned to his spot.

“I’m talking to you!” The boss yelled.

But Andre was quiet.

“Beat him up!” The boss ordered.

Although Andre wasn’t a weakling his power was outmatched compared to 8 muscular dangerous criminals who had hovered over him.

They beat him to a stupor, and broke the bridge of his nose, with blood dripping from his mouth.

He suddenly brought his hands closer to his mouth and coughed out blood. The blood from his mouth spilled on the jade ring unknowingly, and it glowed under the dim light.

The rich spiritual power from the jade ring pierced through Andre’s body, his eyes shut tight, and he found himself on another planet.

He was facing a divine being who was dressed in a white robe, translucent light glowing from his robe. Andre recognized the man as the old man from the prison,

“Congratulations on activating the ancient ring of the dragon’s lineage. You’re my descendants, and you’re the chosen one to carry on my legacy. The jade ring is not just a ring but contains a small world that hosts many varieties of life such as spiritual powers, medical knowledge, martial arts, and the god of war.”

“Now go on and rule the world. Ensure you use the ring well in a positive way.”

The old man said, blowing some air at Andre which automatically revives him. Meanwhile, physically he was already beaten to the point of death,

Andre suddenly felt a new surge of energy evaporating into his body from the jade ring, all the open cuts in his body suddenly healed up.

His eyes turned crimson and a strong killing intent emitted from his body.

“He’s… awake,” one among the men stuttered.

The others stared in disbelief at Andre who stood fitted on his feet, his dark aura which spread across the room causing havoc.

“Finish him with the knife in your hands!” The boss ordered.

Before his predators could even approach him, Andre already sent them flying some meters away with a mere glare. In a twinkle of an eye, the bullies in the room were all sprawling on the floor, begging for mercy.

Just as Andre was about to finish his business with the boss, the rustling sounds from the cell frame drew their attention.

“Andre Spencer?” The warden called.

Andre stopped with his punch in the air and let go of his anger. He strode towards the entrance of the cell gate and it was opened.

As he stepped out of the cell, he asked.“Where are you taking me to?”

The warden was quiet but gestured for Andre to lead the way.

Badmus had already smashed his glass of whiskey against the wall.“She’s ruined us!” Grandpa thundered. “She’s turned the entire country against us. Now, she's made us a target, Badmus! Every reporter will be digging into our history.” Badmus growled, “She didn’t name us, Father. But everyone will guess. The press already thinks it’s an internal feud.”Grandpa’s voice trembled with anger. “And where’s that useless husband of hers? This is his doing. He’s poisoned her mind!”Andre entered just then, his face unreadable, his shirt still stained faintly from the cut on his cheek. “If anyone poisoned her,” he said quietly, “it was this family.”Badmus took a threatening step forward. “Watch your tongue, boy. You think marrying into this family gives you power?”Andre gave a humorless smile. “No. But it gives me a front-row seat to your downfall.”Before either of them coul

Grandpa, Uncle Badmus, all of them. My mother’s missing, and they’re still talking about contracts!”Andre sighed, pulling her closer until her shaking body rested against his chest. “Listen to me. Go home. I’ll handle this.”“Handle?” she repeated bitterly. “How? You saw what they did. You saw how they treat you, like you’re nothing!”He didn’t flinch. “Exactly. They think I’m nothing.
