Mike countenance fell flat , 3 days to him was too long and he couldn't wait any longer to attend the biggest event that would enable him garner massive connections from the influential guests that would come.

And the most important  thing was, he'd be able to meet the mysterious chairman there.

He could use that opportunity to personally present another project to the chairman and build his father's trust.

If he gets the chairman to approve another project, his father would hand over the company to him earlier than expected.

But whatever, no matter it was tomorrow or three days later, he'd make it!

Mike snapped back his gaze to Andrew and squared his shoulder,as a proud smile enveloped his face, My fiancé and I would be the special guests at the A and U banquet happening in three days and we would be signing our big collaboration with the chairman present there

You can just come and pack some leftovers, since that's the only way I can compensate you for snatching your wife from you because I was a better man Mike boasted, his words dripping with mockery

Andrew let out a small laugh and nodded his head.

Sure, I will attend it and I will make sure to come with a huge gift,  for the both of youhe added sarcastically,

How do you intend on doing that with your measly pay that you hardly get by with? Mike sneered, glaring down at Andrew condescendingly.

See you in 3 days, and look for who to borrow a suit from, your regular trashy type of dressing won't be allowed that day Mike said smugly, adjusting the collar of his shirt as he turned his back and made his way out of the company building.

Andrew flickered his gaze at his retreating back and he chuckled lightly, really looking forward to seeing the fool's funny face on that day.

Andrew turned around to proceed to take his private elevator to the CEO's office.

Meanwhile at the 10th floor of the A and U building, the powerful and strict CEO of A and U group, Justin Timon, was seen arranging his office and setting things in order as he paced around nervously .

He had just received information from his assistant that the chairman was in the building but he wasn't informed earlier so he feared that the chairman would be angry at him for keeping him waiting.

He was well known in the whole of Nashville city as the strictest and most powerful CEO of the A and U groups. He was highly competent, knowledgeable and was mostly known for being fearless.

But somehow, when it comes to his boss, the chairman of A and U group, his usual strict demeanor abandons him and he turns into a nervous mess.

And today, he was no different, his insides were burning with trepidation as he hurriedly made his way to the elevator, praying that the chairman wouldn't be very mad at him because he wasted time in coming to meet with him.

The moment the elevator door dropped open, and Andrew came in sight

Upon seeing him , Justin's head bowed down as he greeted him respectfullythe sweat trickling down his forehead.

My assistant didn't inform me on time that you were here, I'm sorry sir for keeping you waiting. Please forgive.. "

It's okay Justin. Andrew ordered as he made his way into the office

Thank you sirThe CEO heaved a deep sigh of relief as he bowed his head.

By the way, did you just meet with Mike Woods to sign a contract with his father's company Hillwoods corporation?" Andrew asked.

No sir, I wasn't the one who met with him, I was in an important meeting and there was no need for me to see him myself, so I asked my assistant to do thatThe CEO said respectfully, careful with his words in order not to say something to offend the chairman.

His father was willing to reduce their company's profit by 50% just for the chance to collaborate with us. So we considered him because it wasn't much of a big deal even though his company wasn't really up to our normal standard. He said, explaining further.

Ok, cancel the contract with Hill woods and halt all ongoing projects immediately

From today onwards,I forbid you to sign any contract or get affiliated with Hillwoods corporation, am I understood? Andrew ordered , his voice laced with authority

Yes sir The CEO  answered immediately,  wondering what Hill wood corporation have done to incur his boss's wrath.

I will get right into it immediatelyHe obeyed without asking any further questions, to avoid upsetting his boss.

Andrew nodded slightly,And prepare my jet. Immediately. I need to go to Ceal Veal city.

Okay, sir.

Meanwhile, Mike was busy in the shopping mall making selections of suits he was going to wear for the banquet.

Beep!

Mike reached for his phone in his pocket, the moment he saw the name on the screen, he smiled in satisfaction as he put the phone to his ears, expecting praises from his father.

Hello

Who the fuk did you offend? What did you do to make A and U cancel all of our ongoing and future projects with them? Why did you choose to put our company in jeopardy?

Mike's face turned pale, his heartbeat picking up rapidly as his father's words sank into his ears.

H..h..how

You fool, the reason for the cancellation is because you offended someone, who was it ?

I didn't offend anyone, I have

That's none of my business! You have to fix it.

The loan sharks are on our neck, our stocks are crashing, the shareholders are selling off our shares at a ridiculously cheap rate.

All this in one day because of you? We now at the verge of announcing our bankruptcy

Fix it or I will disown youthe voice roared and immediately the line went dead.

Mike was shocked to the core, his heart still pounding furiously against his chest, beads of sweat rolling down his face.

How could he go from Hero to zero in split seconds because he offended someone?

Who was it?He ransacked his brain, thinking of anyone he had issues with, but there was noneexcept Andrew.

Was it Andrew ?

No common Mike, think properly! How can you think such a lowlife could affect the decision of a huge company Iike A and U?He scolded himself, waving off the absurd thought.

But how can they lose the A and U project like that?

Their company had already faced a financial crisis due to poor management before. Although it appeared problem-free on the surface, in reality, it was on the verge of collapse.

In order to secure a collaboration project with A and U, his father had even proactively offered a 50% profit concession, as they were well aware of the enormous benefits such a partnership with a giant corporation would bring in all aspects. The collaboration with A and U was the only lifeline that could pull them out of the abyss.

Now the partnership had been canceled, it was a disaster for them. He must quickly find a new source of funds to fill the financial gap.

But how could it be that easy? The bank had already refused to give them a loan before.

Mike felt utterly desperate.

His face turned pale, beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, and he paced back and forth, frantically thinking about how to solve the current predicament.

How could he be so unlucky?

It was all that trash Andrews fault, bringing him bad luck!

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him.

Lily!

Although Lilys company wasnt as strong as his, it had been growing rapidly in recent years. And in 3 days time, she would be finalizing her collaboration with A and U group which would undoubtedly result in a massive influx of capital.

Yes! !He muttered, as a thought flashed through his mind, refilling his hope.

Now Lily was completely devoted to him, having even broken up with Andrew for him.

All he had to do was hold onto Lily tighter and continue gaining her trust.

As long as he did that, transferring her funds into his own account wouldn't be too difficult.

And with that, they could bounce back.

After making up his mind, Mike took a deep breath and forced a smile on his face,as he began mapping out his plans in his head.

Anastasia had no choice but to oblige with her friend’s demands. She didn’t want to, but the pressure from their stares at the other side of the restaurant was enough to make her skin prickle. If Andrew was someone influential, someone whose name carried weight in the business world or social scene, she wouldn’t have even waited to be told before she introduced him to the group. She would have walked him in with pride, letting their envious eyes soak in every detail. But Andrew’s case was different. He was a nobody. Not from an influential family, not even a man who owned a small business or had any visible status. Just a desperate man, in her eyes, who wanted nothing more than to leech off her family by marrying her. In her mind, he was a disgrace — a burden she couldn’t shake off — and nothing more. Yet here she was, having to drag him into a circle that would eat him alive with their words.Reluctantly, she walked over to Andrew’s table. He was seated alone in the far corner, cal

Where’s your manager?! I need to see him.” Mirian’s voice came out sharp, each word carrying irritation that drew a few glances from nearby tables. Her tone was firm, almost commanding, and the staff at the reception desk immediately stiffened at her presence. She wasted no time explaining the entire situation, her hands gesturing animatedly as she turned halfway, ready to point out the waiter who had blatantly ignored her earlier. Her voice was fast, words tumbling out in an annoyed rush, as though the injustice she suffered could not be told in anything less than urgent detail.“Mirian, look,” Cynthia called suddenly, cutting through Mirian’s explanation. Her tone had a strange edge—half amused, half curious—which made Mirian’s brows knit in mild confusion. But just as she turned toward Cynthia, her movement froze mid-way, her gaze locking onto something that made her blink twice in disbelief. There, seated comfortably at a corner table, was the very man she had confidently mistaken

Andrew stopped mid-stride and turned his head slightly, his brow furrowed, expecting something urgent or at least worth his attention. The voices and soft music in the background hummed around him, but this one sharp command had been prominent.“Get me an extra wine glass,” the voice ordered without hesitation. It belonged to Mirian, one of Anastacia’s closest friends. She didn’t bother to look at the man she was talking to closely; in her mind, there was no need. Her eyes had already swept lazily over his simple polo and plain jeans with no luxury item in sight and had decided he couldn’t possibly be anything other than a waiterShe didn’t care that Andrew’s clothing didn’t match the waiters—the staff here wore crisp white shirts, black waistcoats, and polished shoes. In her eyes, the man didn’t look like someone who belonged in a place where the cheapest wine bottle cost more than some people’s rent. Therefore, he must be here to serve.Andrew didn’t answer. He saw no reason to.

The restaurant exuded quiet opulence—golden chandeliers casting a warm glow over polished marble floors, crystal glasses catching the light like tiny prisms, and the subtle hum of hushed conversations blending with the gentle strains of a piano in the corner. He had no intention of being distracted, yet as they wove past a row of neatly dressed diners, his eyes instinctively scanned the room—and froze. There, sitting in an intimate corner, was the last person he had expected to see.Anastacia Ashton. She sat at a table with five others, all elegantly dressed, their posture and laughter carrying the air of people who knew they belonged. She pulled out a chair, sat down, and joined in a brief conversation about the latest events in town, trying to act as though she hadn’t noticed the way they glanced at her from time to time.Cynthia, one of Anastacia’s friends, leaned forward with a knowing glint in her eyes. “Anna, you didn’t come with our in-law?” she asked, her tone dripping with sarcasm and mockery, her smile wide enough to let Anastacia know she was baiting her.“Cynthia!” Dorothy scolded sharply, rolling her eyes in irritation. “Must you always start trouble the moment she arrives?”Mirian, another of Anastacia’s friends, cleared her throat in an awkward attempt to diffuse the tension, while Paul shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his jaw tightening as he

Dorothy, ever the timekeeper, was calling to remind her of their monthly dinner scheduled for later that night. It was the routine dinner held by her former classmates, a tight-knit circle that had evolved into business partners over the years.
