Without a word, Antonio shifted his focus back to Matilda.

How could he even begin to respond to a question like that?

The moment was too fragile, too critical. There was no room for theatrics.

His focus stayed fixed on Matilda. Her skin was pale as snow, lips tinged with blue, and a thin stream of blood still seeping from the wound along her side.

Florence stepped forward, “You’re not even supposed to be touching her! You’re not staff, you’re not licensed, and this is a critical case! Is this how low you’ve sunk—using a dying child to win your new girlfriend's affection now that your ex-wife is done with you?”

Florence's fury was written all over her face.

Antonio’s hand jerked, the needle trembling for a half-second before he clenched his jaw and steadied it.

He looked up slowly, his dark eyes flashing with disdain.

“If you two geniuses,” he said icily, “have a better way to stop her internal bleeding and stabilize her without losing her within the next ten minutes—b

Without hesitation, one of the men lunged at Antonio, aiming straight for his throat. With a twist born of instinct and deadly training, Antonio pivoted, letting the blade whistle harmlessly past his shoulder. His fist shot forward, connecting with the man’s jaw.A sharp crack echoed, and the attacker went down hard. But the others pressed in.Two men rushed him from opposite sides, their daggers raised high to strike down at his head. Antonio ducked low, rolled across the ground, and came up right beneath one of them. With a lightning-fast movement, he wrenched the dagger from the startled man’s grip and drove the hilt into his stomach. The man folded with a grunt, collapsing onto the ground. Now armed, Antonio’s eyes gleamed coldly. The remaining attackers hesitated, but only for a heartbeat. Then they rushed towards Antonio like a storm of flashing blades. However, Antonio moved like a predator among prey. His stolen dagger clashed against theirs as sparks flied with each s

Robert’s expression hardened into a satisfied smile. Antonio was moving again. And this time, it was not only far from Gelrith City but also beyond the Earl’s reach. He was determined not to give up. He would strike at Antonio, especially now that the location would make things easier. He would ensure nothing could ever be traced back to him.Robert rose to his feet and poured himself a glass of brandy. The amber liquid glowed against the glass as he took a sip.Nobody ever defeated him—nobody!Every rival who had dared to cross him had been crushed, their names had been erased, and their existence buried under his victories. The thought of Antonio—a nobody, a man with no wealth, and no name, standing against him was an insult. Robert would not allow it.Antonio, he believed, was nothing but a man who had stumbled into fortune by chance. His so-called reputation had been built on one favor he had rendered to the Earl of Wessex, a favor that had bought him temporary recognition.

Harry’s chest burned with humiliation every time his mind replayed the scene at the event. Robert Adams had stolen the spotlight so easily, crushing his fragile reputation in front of Elaine with nothing more than a merciless smirk. To those who witnessed it, Harry was just another desperado overreaching his place. It gnawed at him like a wound that wouldn’t heal. His hunger for recognition had always been insatiable, but now it was desperate. He needed to redeem himself, and the quickest way to do that was by grasping at something Robert himself valued. And right now, nothing mattered more to Robert than the elusive figure of Antonio. Harry saw opportunity in that. If he could be the one to track Antonio down or if he could hand Robert the information that no one else had, then his reputation would skyrocket. And then, there was the money. Harry’s lips twitched at the thought. Robert Adams wasn’t just rich—he was wealthy on a scale that made others look like beggars. The re

Antonio leaned closer and told Cynthia the name of the herb. She quickly reached into her purse, pulled out her phone, and began typing it into the search bar.It took only a few seconds for the screen to light up with search results, but the very first lines made her heart skip.“Antonio…” she whispered in shock. “This herb… it’s extremely rare.”Antonio turned his head, watching the phone’s light shine on her face.Cynthia kept scrolling with her eyes narrowing as she read carefully. Soon, she found more details—clear enough to make her heart race.“It says here that the herb grows in the eastern part of the country… several miles from here. A remote area, actually,” Cynthia informed.Antonio leaned back with his lips pressed in thought and Cynthia looked at him again, hesitant. “We’re talking about a serious journey. Dangerous, maybe. Shouldn’t we—?”Before she could finish, Antonio raised his hand lightly. “Don’t worry, Cynthia. I’ll handle it. I’ll contact one of my men, to

Harry’s pulse quickened as he held the phone to his ear, listening to the line connect. After a short pause, a firm, businesslike voice came through, carrying an authority that made Harry sit up straight.“Robert Adams’ private unit. State your purpose.”Harry swallowed, cleared his throat, and forced himself to sound confident. “My name is Harry Gibson,” he began. “I want to enroll in the Robert Adams private mercenary academy. I’m ready to go through the full process, whatever it takes.”There was silence on the line for a few moments and Harry could almost imagine the unseen figure on the other end assessing him, weighing his voice, and deciding if he was worth the time. Then finally, the man replied.“You’ll need to come in person for vetting. Bring identification, and prepare yourself mentally. Nothing about this process is casual, and nothing is free. Understood?”“Yes,” Harry said quickly. “I understand.”The caller proceeded to give him precise details: the address, the ti

The moment Alder stepped out, Robert Adams leaned in close to Antonio.“You bastard, you’re still on my radar.”With that, he straightened and swept from the hall with his entourage trailing behind like shadows.Antonio turned to make his own exit, only to hear his name called. He pivoted and found Florence approaching. Her smile was radiant, deliberate, as she offered her greeting and praise.“I must say, Mr. Morris, the way you handled yourself in that bidding was extraordinary. Few men can stand against Robert Adams without wavering. But you didn’t just withstand—you won."Antonio’s lips curved into a humble smile.“I only did what was necessary, ma’am. That herb wasn't something I could afford to lose.”Florence tilted her head, her sharp eyes glinting as though she were weighing him like a rare commodity.“Then whoever your sponsor is must be quite generous. Not many would back someone in such a costly endeavor without expecting something massive in return.”Antonio gave a soft l
