The low, guttural roar of heavy diesel engines rattled the frosted glass frames of the depot courtyard as two massive, iron-plated tread-crawlers smashed through the outer perimeter security gates. Snow and ice sprayed into the air as the vehicles ground to a halt, blocking the main entrance and sealing the courtyard into a closed kill-zone.
Over thirty heavily armed mercenaries clad in dark, insulated fur coats and reinforced steel body armor spilled out from the armored transports, spreading out across the snow-covered pavement with automatic shotguns and heavy assault rifles.
Standing on the hood of the lead tread-crawler was Commander Vance, a brutal, scarred lieutenant of Warlord Boris who shared no blood relation to Ethan, despite his name. He carried a heavy anti-tank rocket launcher slung over his shoulder, his gray eyes scanning the quiet, snow-dusted courtyard with sadistic pleasure.
Behind the lead crawler, crouching near the smashed iron gates, were Marcus Vance, Laura Sterling, and Mrs. Sterling. Marcus was leaning heavily on a crude, improvised wooden crutch, his shattered left knee wrapped in bloody bandages. Laura huddled close behind him, shivering under a thin blanket, her eyes wide with malicious anticipation.
"Are you sure he's still inside, Marcus?"
Commander Vance barked, racking the bolt of his sidearm with a sharp, metallic click.
"I'm positive!"
Marcus sneered, his face twisted in venomous hatred.
"He brought that nurse down into the subterranean armory! He has nowhere to go! The blast door is the only way out, Vance! Seal the bunker entrance, and he'll freeze in the dark!"
Laura looked toward the dark administrative building, her hands clenching into tight fists.
Ethan thought he was so high and mighty throwing us into the stairwell, she thought bitter, toxic resentment burning in her chest. Now Marcus brought Boris’s Syndicate! Once they strip him of his fire power, I'll make him crawl on his knees and beg me for forgiveness!
High above the courtyard, hidden behind the frosted parapet of the warehouse roof, Captain Victoria Vance lay prone in the snow, her eyes pressed against the night-vision scope of her anti-material sniper rifle. Corporal Miller and his squad lined the adjacent roofline, their rifles locked onto the mercenary commanders below.
"Commander, the target's Vanguard force has completely entered the courtyard."
Victoria whispered into her tactical comm-bead, her voice steady and frigid as the storm.
"Marcus and Laura are positioned near the rear gate. Order?"
Deep within the shadows of the warehouse entrance below, Ethan stood calmly, leaning against a concrete pillar with his arms crossed over his chest. His light vest fluttered softly in the sub-zero draft, completely unbothered by the -60°C wind chill sweeping through the broken gate.
"Hold your fire, Victoria."
Ethan replied softly through the comms.
"Let them set up their toys. I want all of them in the center before we spring the trap."
Below, Commander Vance raised a hand, gesturing to four mercenaries carrying heavy explosive charges toward the subterranean bunker entrance.
"Weld the secondary locks and set the thermite charges! We'll turn that underground room into an oven, then crack it open to harvest his fire core!"
"Who said you needed thermite to open the door?"
A cold, calm voice echoed through the courtyard.
The thirty mercenaries froze, spinning around with their weapons raised.
Through the dense, swirling mist of snow, Ethan stepped out from the main warehouse doorway into the open courtyard. He walked slowly, his hands resting casually in his pockets, his dark eyes sweeping over the heavy tread-crawlers and the armed gang with absolute, terrifying indifference.
Marcus’s eyes flared with manic glee as he pointed a trembling finger at Ethan.
"That's him! That's Ethan Vance! Shoot him! Don't let him raise his hands!"
Commander Vance let out a deep, booming laugh, raising his rocket launcher and aiming it straight for Ethan's chest.
"Well, well! The little student came out to play! You've got guts walking out here alone, kid! Where's your fire now?"
Laura stepped forward from behind the crawler, a smug, cruel smile playing on her chapped lips.
"It's over, Ethan! You should have shared your warm food and shelter with us when you had the chance! Now Marcus gave your location to the Syndicate! You're going to lose everything!"
Ethan stopped ten meters from the lead tread-crawler. He glanced at Laura, then shifted his gaze to Marcus, his face devoid of any fear, anger, or emotion.
"You really don't learn, do you, Laura?"
Ethan said smoothly, his voice carrying clearly over the roar of the diesel engines.
"You brought thirty men and two iron crawlers, thinking that makes you strong."
Commander Vance’s smile vanished, replaced by a sudden, instinctual wave of danger that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.
"Enough talk! Take his legs!"
Four mercenaries squeezed their triggers, unleashing a deafening hail of automatic rifle
fire straight toward Ethan's position!
RAT-AT-AT-AT-AT!
Before the heavy lead rounds could travel five meters, Ethan raised his left hand and snapped his fingers.
GLACIAL SHIELD!
A five-inch-thick wall of solid, absolute-zero ice erupted from the concrete floor directly in front of him. The high-caliber bullets struck the crystal surface, flattening instantly and falling uselessly into the snow like lead pebbles.
Commander Vance’s jaw dropped.
"What the hell?! He has Ice Manipulation too?!"
From the high roofline above, Victoria’s cold voice echoed through Ethan’s comm-bead.
"Targets are clustered in the central kill-zone, Commander."
Ethan lowered his left hand, stepping out from behind the ice shield as a swirling, 800°C crimson flame ignited across his right palm. His dark eyes glowed with a terrifying, dual-colored radiance, golden fire in his right eye, icy blue in his left.
"Victoria."
Ethan commanded, his dark smile reflecting in the metal plating of the tread-crawlers.
"Clear the perimeter."
THUNDER-CRACK!
A massive anti-material sniper round shattered the storm, tearing through the head of Commander Vance’s chief lieutenant before he could even raise his weapon!

Chapter 9: The Armory and the Intercepted Trap
The heavy hydraulic blast doors groaned as they slid fully into the concrete walls, revealing the expansive subterranean fortress beneath the Northport Military Supply Depot. Unlike the frozen wasteland above, the underground air here was still and preserved, held in a state of suspended animation by reinforced blast shielding and emergency battery banks.Row upon row of heavy steel weapons racks stretched into the dim shadows of the main storage bay. Standard-issue automatic assault rifles, high-caliber sniper systems, crates of armor-piercing ammunition, anti-material rocket launchers, and tactical armor vests lined the walls in immaculate condition. Parked along the far wall were three massive, heavy-duty armored snow crawlers equipped with reinforced plow blades and dual-mounted thermal turrets.Corporal Miller and the remaining soldiers gasped, their eyes wide as they stepped down the metal staircase."The entire central tactical reserve is intact." Victoria murmured, walking u
Chapter 8: The Subterranean Terror
The concrete courtyard buckled and split like brittle glass as the forty-foot Acid-Frost Serpent reared its massive head into the storm. Its translucent ice scales glistened with a sickly, bioluminescent green, and clouds of acidic, sub-zero vapor hissed as they hit the freezing air. Where the creature’s corrosive saliva dripped onto the ground, armored steel plating dissolved into bubbling slush.Corporal Miller scrambled backward in absolute panic, clawing at the mud as he screamed. "It’s a subterranean threat! The rifles won't do anything! Run!"Victoria’s instincts kicked in instantly. Even with her energy restored by the System bond, the sheer size of the beast made her breath catch. "Ethan, stand back! The green mist is hyper-corrosive,it dissolves physical armor and freezes flesh on contact!""I see it." Ethan replied smoothly, his eyes narrowing as his System vision flared. Thanks to Sarah’s passive Medical Accuracy buff, glowing crimson outlines lit up the serpent’s anatomy
Chapter 7: The Iron Valkyrie's Vow

Chapter 5: Confrontation at the Penthouse

"He's alive! Marcus, kill him! He's come to murder us all!"Laura scrambled backward into the far corner of the room, her hands pressed over her mouth in sheer horror. She stared at Ethan's bare arms, at his complete lack of shivering, and at the flickering amber sparks dancing across his knuckles.
