Apocalypse Overlord: My God-Tier Architect System

Chapter 1: The Sky Tears Open

The afternoon sun burned hot over the crowded city streets as Zarek weaved his beat-up scooter through the thick traffic. Horns blared from every direction. Sweat soaked his thin shirt and dripped down his back. At twenty-five, he was just another guy grinding through each day to take care of his sick mother and younger brother waiting at their small apartment on the edge of town. Today had already been rough with almost no customers and the price of fuel climbing again. His stomach rumbled loud, reminding him he had skipped lunch once more.

"Just one good ride before evening," he said quietly to himself, wiping his face. He often dreamed of saving enough money to start a little repair shop or send his brother to better school. But those thoughts always felt too far away when life kept hitting him with the same daily struggles.

Then everything changed in a single moment.

A deep rumble shook the air, like thunder rolling from all sides at once. People stopped and looked up. Zarek pulled his scooter to the side and stared too. The clear blue sky above the tall buildings began to crack open like thin glass. Bright red lines spread fast across the clouds, growing wider with every second. The air turned thick and heavy, pressing down hard on his chest and making it tough to breathe.

"What is happening?" a woman cried out nearby, clutching her child close.

Before anyone could move far, the first scream ripped through the noise. A monstrous creature dropped straight down from one of the cracks. It looked like a huge twisted wolf with spikes covering its back and eyes that glowed blood red. It landed on top of a car and ripped into the driver with long sharp claws. Blood sprayed across the broken windshield. More cracks opened all over the sky. More beasts fell through. Some had leathery wings and dove at people running below. Others crawled on many legs like giant scaly insects, smashing through shop windows.

Zarek's heart slammed in his chest. He jumped off his scooter and tried to push it forward, but it got jammed between two stopped cars. Chaos exploded everywhere. People ran in panic, screaming as the monsters attacked without mercy. A man tripped just a few steps away and got dragged down by a smaller beast that sank its teeth into his throat. The sounds of tearing flesh mixed with crashing vehicles and desperate cries for help.

Zarek ran. His legs burned as he dodged between crashed cars and groups of terrified people. He had to get back home to his mother and brother. They were alone and had no idea what was coming. The monsters seemed to be everywhere now. One large creature leaped onto a group of street vendors and tore through them in seconds, leaving only blood and broken stalls behind.

He turned down a narrow alley, hoping it would be quieter and give him a faster path. His breath came in short gasps. The alley smelled of old trash and spilled oil, but at least no cars blocked the way. He could hear the chaos from the main road growing louder behind him. His mind raced with fear for his family. How would they survive this?

A low growl stopped him cold. Zarek froze mid-step. From the shadows at the end of the alley, two glowing red eyes appeared. The creature stepped out slowly. It was bigger than the others, with thick armored plates on its shoulders and saliva dripping from jagged teeth. Its claws scraped against the concrete as it lowered its head and snarled.

Zarek backed up slowly, his hands shaking. There was nowhere to run. The alley walls were too high to climb, and the monster blocked the only way forward. His back hit the cold brick behind him. The beast crouched low, ready to spring.

In that moment, as death stared him in the face, a calm mechanical voice suddenly spoke inside his head.

[Cosmic Reset detected. System initialization in progress. Scanning host... Host compatibility confirmed.]

Zarek blinked hard, thinking the fear had made him imagine things. But the voice continued, clear and steady.

[Congratulations, Zarek. You are one of the 0.001 percent selected for the God-Tier Architect Class under the Survival God System. This system will allow you to build, upgrade, and claim territory in the new world. First quest activated: Survive the initial wave and establish your first safe zone. Reward: Basic shelter blueprint and starter resource pack.]

A glowing blue screen appeared in front of his eyes, floating in the air like it was real. It showed simple stats:

[Host: Zarek

Level: 1

Class: God-Tier Architect

Health: 85/100

Strength: 8

Agility: 10

Endurance: 9

Mana: 0 (locked)]

The monster roared and leaped straight at him, jaws wide open.

Zarek raised his arms to protect himself, but something strange happened. A small spark of energy ran through his body. Without thinking, he grabbed a broken metal pipe lying on the ground nearby. The system voice spoke again.

[Basic crafting unlocked. Use available materials to create a temporary defense.]

The pipe in his hands began to glow faintly. Old wooden crates and metal scraps from the alley seemed to pull toward him on their own. In a rush of panic and instinct, he slammed the pipe against the wall and watched as the system guided his movements. The scraps twisted and joined together fast, forming a rough barrier just in time.

The creature crashed into the makeshift shield with full force. The impact shook Zarek's arms, but the barrier held for a few seconds. He pushed back with all his strength, heart racing. The beast snapped its jaws inches from his face, trying to break through.

[Quest progress: 1/1 initial survival step complete. Safe zone establishment starting. Choose location to claim.]

Zarek's mind spun. He kicked hard at the barrier, sending the creature stumbling back for a moment. Using that small opening, he dashed past it toward the open end of the alley. His legs carried him out into another street where a few abandoned cars sat empty. One large delivery truck had flipped over, its side torn open but the metal frame still strong.

He ran straight to the truck and placed his hand on the cold metal. The system screen flashed brighter.

[Claiming territory... Converting materials... First safe zone established.]

The truck and nearby debris began to shift and strengthen. Metal panels folded and locked together like puzzle pieces. Broken glass melted and reformed into solid walls. In just seconds, a small but solid shelter took shape around him, with narrow openings for looking out and a basic door that sealed shut.

Zarek leaned against the inside wall, breathing hard. His body ached, but he was alive. Outside, he could hear the monster slamming against the new walls, but they held firm. The system voice returned, sounding almost pleased.

[First safe zone claimed successfully. Reward granted: Basic Shelter Blueprint unlocked. Starter resource pack added to inventory: 50 wood units, 30 metal units, 10 energy cores.]

A small inventory window popped up showing the items. Zarek stared at it in shock. This could not be real, but the solid walls around him said otherwise. He had survived the first attack. Maybe he could find a way to reach his family now.

But before he could feel any relief, the system pinged again with a new alert, this time in red letters that flashed across the screen.

[Global Announcement: First Architect-class safe zone detected in the eastern sector. All mutated beasts within five kilometers now converging on this location. Warning: A high-level Destroyer-class user has been detected three kilometers away and has marked your safe zone as priority target.]

The sound of heavy footsteps and loud roars grew louder from every direction. Zarek peeked through a small gap in the wall. Dozens of glowing red eyes were moving toward him through the streets. In the distance, a tall shadowy figure stood on top of a ruined building, looking straight in his direction with a cruel smile.

The system added one last line before going quiet.

[Prepare for wave two. Failure to defend will result in loss of safe zone and possible host death.]

Zarek gripped the metal pipe tighter, his knuckles turning white. The first fight had barely ended, and already something much bigger was coming straight for him.

Chapter 151 The wall of code surged forward like a living tide. Zarek met it head-on. The hammer swung in wide, devastating arcs, shattering tendrils of golden data before they could reach his family. Every impact sent shockwaves through the ruins. Golden light and Overlord energy mixed in violent bursts that lit up the fractured sky. Behind him, Mira fought with brutal efficiency, her wrench smashing through any ghost that slipped past Zarek’s guard. Lira stayed close to her mother, swinging her small golden hammer whenever something got too close. Each time the tiny weapon connected, it flared with Elara’s light and burned through code. Elara floated above them all, small hands raised. She wasn’t attacking directly — instead, she was rewriting sections of the code wall, turning the enemy’s own weapon against them. Where her light touched the golden tendrils, they twisted and dissolved into harmless sparks. The three marked humans watched from behind the wall at first. Then th

Chapter 160 The bunker smelled of blood and ozone. Zarek sat against the wall while Mira pressed a torn strip of cloth against the wound in his side. Golden blood soaked through the fabric almost as fast as she could replace it. Elara floated beside them, small hands glowing as she tried to help seal the injury with her power. Lira sat a few feet away, hugging her knees, the tiny golden hammer still clutched in one hand. Her eyes kept darting to the bunker entrance like she expected the marked humans to return any second. Zarek’s breathing was steady, but his golden eyes were distant. The mark had gone quiet again after the fight. Too quiet. Mira finished tying the makeshift bandage and sat back on her heels. She studied Zarek’s face — the golden veins, the solid gold eyes, the exhaustion underneath it all. “You almost lost it,” she said quietly. Zarek didn’t deny it. “I saw it,” he admitted. “Joining them. Building with them. You and the girls… rewritten. Safe. Perfect. For
