CHAPTER 17:

The concrete under Mark’s sneakers didn't just vibrate; it hummed with a terrifying, rhythmic pulse. A half-mile away, the front vanguard of the monster tide smashed through the mall's outer parking lot gates. Heavy steel guard rails snapped like dry toothpicks, and abandoned sedans were flipped over instantly by the sheer momentum of thousands of rushing feet. The high-pitched, mocking shrieks of over five thousand Goblins blended into a single, deafening roar that echoed off the surrounding concrete towers.

"Sly. Drop," Mark commanded, his mental voice traveling instantly through the [Shared Senses] link.

The eighteen-foot Abyssal Viper didn't hesitate. Sly coiled his massive, tree-trunk-sized body at the edge of the rooftop parking deck and launched himself forward, diving straight down toward the loading dock courtyard three stories below.

BOOM!

Sly struck the asphalt with the force of a falling meteor, creating a massive crater and sending chunks of jagged pavement flying into the air. The sheer impact crushed a dozen leading Goblins into green muck. The moment he landed, Mark activated his active buff.

"Beast Fortification!"

A brilliant, translucent emerald barrier erupted around Sly’s matte-black body, locking his scales into an impenetrable layer of crystalline armor. The massive iron snake coiled himself tightly right in front of the primary iron gates, forming a living, eighteen-foot barricade of solid steel and ancient magic.

The first wave of Goblins slammed directly into Sly’s fortified coils like a tidal wave hitting a stone cliff face.

CRUNCH!

Thanks to Sly’s new passive skill, [Acidic Retaliation], the moment the Goblins' rusted daggers and wooden clubs struck his dense scales, a violent chemical reaction exploded outward. Corrosive purple acid splashed violently onto the attackers.

The front rank of Goblins shrieked in agony as their hands, rusted weapons, and leather armor instantly began to melt and sizzle into black sludge. They tried to stumble backward, but the sheer volume of thousands of monsters pushing from behind forced them directly into the melting wall of meat.

"Zephyr, clear the skies! [Thunder Bolt]!" Mark barked from the rooftop, his cold, calculated gaze sweeping over the frontline meat grinder.

High above the crimson clouds, Zephyr spread his twelve-foot silver wings. The arcs of blue electricity dancing across his feathers intensified, pooling into a massive, blinding storm cloud directly above the highway bottleneck. With a fierce, piercing cry, the Storm Eagle unleashed a chain of lightning strikes downward.

KABOOM! KABOOM!

Jagged spears of pure high-voltage electricity tore through the sky, striking the center of the Orc formation. Since the Orcs were marching in tight rows carrying heavy iron shields, the electrical current jumped seamlessly from one monster to the next. Over a hundred Orcs convulsed violently, their iron armor plates melting into their green skin as the scent of burning flesh filled the air.

"Shadow, clean up the flanks. Don't let the spiders scale the walls," Mark ordered telepathically.

Shadow let out a deep, ground-shaking roar. His paws trailing freezing black embers, the bear-sized Hellhound executed [Shadow Step]. He dissolved into the shadows of the rooftop and reappeared at the southern loading docks, right where a pack of multi-eyed Shadow Silk Spiders were attempting to climb the concrete pillars to reach the survivors' barricades.

Shadow opened his jaws, his [Searing Aura] instantly setting the surrounding silk webs on fire with freezing black flames. He lunged forward, his steel-like claws ripping through the spiders' soft abdomens while his [Abyssal Bite] snapped a spider queen’s head clean off.

Inside the loading dock, Mr. Shola peeked through a gap in the reinforced iron shutters. His jaw dropped so low it looked dislocated. The forty-five survivors who had been weeping in despair just minutes ago were now staring in absolute, stunned silence. They weren't watching a slaughter of humans—they were watching a single teenager systematically butcher an entire army using four beasts.

"He's... he's holding them off," Mr. Shola whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of terror and intense awe. "An army of ten thousand... and they can't even cross the gate!"

Mark stood at the highest point of the roof, his hair rustling from the residual wind of Zephyr's wings. His mana pool was draining steadily from maintaining the fortification buff, but his expression remained completely relaxed. He checked his experience bar as it filled at a rapid pace.

"The front line is secure," Mark muttered, his eyes narrowing as he looked deeper into the crimson mist at the back of the highway. "But the real leaders haven't shown their faces yet. Keep pushing."

CHAPTER 25: The heavy, squelching sound of steel-toed combat boots splashing through shallow water echoed down the flooded subway tunnel.Mark stood perfectly still at the edge of the sunken train platform, his hands tucked deeply into his jacket pockets. Behind him, the dark water of the reservoir pool was completely smooth, like a sheet of black glass. There was no sign of Kraken, his newly bound Abyssal Leviathan, nor was there any trace of Sly or Shadow. His beasts had entirely dissolved into the surrounding darkness and water using their active stealth abilities. To anyone walking into the chamber, Mark looked like a lone, exhausted teenager trapped in the dark underbelly of the city."Hold it right there! Hands where I can see them!"A harsh, authoritative voice barked from the entrance archway. A tactical flashlight beam sliced through the thick, sulfurous air, blindingly illuminating Mark’s face.Seven human hunters marched onto the platform,
