Cara nodded. “Thanks.” She made her way through the hallway and knocked on the office door.

“Come in,” Scott’s voice said from inside.

She stepped in and saw him seated behind his desk, speaking on the phone, a sharp expression on his face.

“…I don’t care what argument they bring to the table, I want that clause reinforced before any of them gets access to the full report,” Scott was saying to his lawyer. “And yes, make sure the paperwork is ready by tomorrow, please.” He looked up briefly at Cara and gave a single nod to acknowledge her presence before turning his attention back to the call. “We’ll speak again tomorrow.”

He ended the call and sat back in his chair, eyes settling on her. “You came with a report?”

“Yes, sir.” Cara stepped forward, saluted, and waited until he gave a slight tilt of his head before lowering her hand. “It’s about miss Lisa. I kept my eyes on her like you asked.”

Scott arched an eyebrow, his fingers tapping slowly on the table. “Go on.”

BENJAMIN'S OFFICE Benjamin sat in his office, the heavy desk buried under neat stacks of files and folders. A golden pen rested between his fingers as he signed off on another document. His brow was furrowed in concentration, but more than that, in irritation. He hated paperwork, but it was necessary to keep his empire in order. The silence of the room was broken by a knock on the door.Benjamin’s head snapped up instantly as his jaw tightened. His eyes moved toward the door.“I said,” his voice rang out. “that I was not to be disturbed.”The door creaked open anyway, just a fraction at first, and one of his men stepped in cautiously, his broad shoulders somehow seeming smaller under Benjamin’s piercing stare.“I—I apologize, sir,” the man stammered quickly, bowing his head. “Forgive me for interrupting, but it’s about the matter you instructed us to confirm. The one concerning Lisa.”Benjamin's eyes narrowed into thin slits. He leaned back slowly in his chair, folding his arms acro

The last of Gale’s men lay groaning on the concrete, clutching their stomachs, ribs, or faces, some rolling weakly while others could barely move at all. The once-tight circle of men that had surrounded Scott was now nothing but a broken heap scattered across the ground.Scott stood calmly in the middle of it all, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve as though the fight had been nothing more than a warm-up. His breathing remained steady and his face composed as his gaze still remained fixed on Gale.Gale, who only moments ago had been smirking with arrogant confidence, now stood rigid, his smirk gone, his eyes wide and his jaw clenched. The anger that had been visible on his face earlier was now replaced by something else—shock, disbelief, and, beneath it all, fear. Then Scott began to walk towards Gale slowly. His eyes never left Gale, and with each step forward, Gale instinctively stepped back.“You…” Gale began, but his voice faltered. He cleared his throat and tried again, louder th

Scott stood in the middle of the circle, his eyes scanning them calmly as the ring of men tightened around him.Gale smirked from where he stood just outside the formation with his arms crossed over his chest. He spoke loudly, his voice dripping with arrogance.“Look at you, Scott. Surrounded, outnumbered and outmatched. Tell me, how does it feel?”Scott’s gaze turned to him briefly but he didn't speak. That earned him a loud laugh from Gale. He gestured toward his men with a wave of his hand. “Show him what happens to people who cross me.”The first man lunged forward without hesitation, a big, burly figure whose fists were like sledgehammers. He swung hard, aiming straight for Scott’s jaw.But Scott was already moving. With a smooth sidestep, he let the punch sail past him, his body weaving with grace. Before the man could recover, Scott’s hand snapped out, gripping his wrist, and with a sharp twist, he sent the man crashing to the ground with a thud.THUDThe others tensed, their c

The soft voice of Google Maps announced, “You have arrived at your destination,” and Scott’s brows furrowed immediately. He turned off the ignition and leaned back slightly in his seat as his eyes scanned the surroundings. The location didn’t look like any kind of proper meeting place. No polished buildings, no offices, not even a decent parking lot. The building looked like an abandoned warehouse. The edges of the street were cracked and weeds grew high through the broken concrete. There were a few rusting signposts leaned awkwardly with their paint peeling and their words too faded to read.“This doesn’t look right,” Scott muttered under his breath, picking up his phone to check the map again. The blue dot blinked at the center of the screen, right where the pin had been dropped. He double-checked the address. Same place. He didn't make any mistake.Scott exhaled slowly, setting the phone down on the passenger seat. He opened the car door and stepped out cautiously. He glanced aroun

SCOTT'S GUEST HOUSE Scott adjusted the collar of his shirt in the mirror one last time, tugging it into place before he let out a low sigh.He slipped his phone from the dresser, the screen lighting up with a notification. It was a message. He unlocked it with a swipe of his thumb, as his eyes scanned the message. The text displayed a location and a short line confirming the venue for the meeting. Scott read it twice before locking his phone again and sliding it into his pocket.“Alright,” he muttered under his breath, straightening his sleeves. He left the bedroom and walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. He then set a mug on the counter and poured himself coffee.Scott cradled the mug in both hands, lifting it to his lips and taking a sip. He was midway through another sip when his phone began to vibrate against the counter. He set the mug and picked up the phone. The screen lit up with a familiar name.“Aunt,” he said as a wide smile spread across his face.He accepted the

Scott had been weaving through the aisles for the last twenty minutes, his cart now full with everything on his list. Bread, milk, eggs, fresh vegetables, canned goods, snacks for Leah. He even tossed in a few extras that he didn’t really need but figured he might as well get now. No sense making another trip later in the week.He rolled his cart toward the checkout lanes, slowing down as he glanced over the different counters. Most of them were moderately busy, but one line near the end was moving faster than the rest. He made his way over, steering the cart into position behind a middle-aged woman who was just finishing up.He began unloading his items onto the conveyor belt, stacking them in neat groups.A few minutes later he heard the sound of another cart pulling up beside his.He didn’t pay it much attention at first, assuming it was just another shopper picking a lane. But then a familiar voice spoke.“Well, look at that. Twice in one day.”Scott turned his head and found Ca
